      @@E80-t6e If it is just a little bit I charge a bit extra. Few dollars. If it is a lot I either walk away or tell them it will be an extra charge for it. Sometimes they are willing to clean it up when they know they can save money. Other times they don't mind paying the extra $20 or so.

      I stay away from dog poo, many toys and for sure HOA. Too many customers out there not to be fussy. To me a potential customer is looking to change for a reason. I like to find that reason before I regret it.

      If they have dog bombs in the yard I charge an extra 25 for scooping them up before I mow. Easy money and makes the yards look so much better. After all when i pull up to a yard i feel my name is on that yard and I want my name to mean quality !

    Our quotes are simply on sq ft of "grass cut area". Don't via Google maps and we have a proprietary measuring tool within our site. Here we only have one type of grass. Kentucky Blue so it's simple in that way. That's how we keep our costs down as well. A non-traditional model. But I definitely appreciate what you are doing and how you do it. Lots to be taken from this and other videos.

    Yes, I myself do all estimates. My problem is I've had a few customers in the past that just can't seem to clean their yard up. I've seen children's toys, trash, hammers and hangers in the grass. I shouldn't have to tell you what that what do to a set of gators and spindles. So, after dealing with it too much, I just avoid doing those type of properties anymore. Some people, no matter what you do or say, will not clean up. And most of the time, their looking right out the window at you.

    Was up buddy. I have been watching your videos and learning so much from them. I used to do the google map estimates because of other videos. And you are right that ended biting me on the ass. I will go to the property ready to mow because the customer and I agree to a price. Then I will find out that the grass was to tall or it was Saint Augustin grass which takes a long time to mow with a regular mower. I started losing money but I learn quick not to do it anymore. So now I give quotes by visiting the property.

    Informative video on making estimates on lawncare. Alert observation to see damaged siding, loose cable and weeds around the AC. Majority of homes built are slab construction, which for a wet climate, leaves the water closer to the main floor. Joist construction gives more height & separation between the wet ground and main floor. Am surprised owners--even for a rental--neglected the damage around the perimeter. Wise to document & photograph this damage.

    Great points Johnny!! I always try and walk around with the customer and talk with them too. I feel I close on so much more if I actually talk to the potential customer. I also look for other objects in the lawn too because if toys and poo are laying around, then they will more than likely be there every time I come. I am with you, I don't get how guys can just go online and look at a yard. I feel like there are always too many surprises, especially at a rental property.

    • @gg32484
      @gg32484 6 років тому +1
