I cut grass on the side while going to college I have 32 lawns, and these tips are all true, the number of companies that do not text customers if they get rained out amazes me. It is not hard to put all clients in a mass text message and let them know what is going on, communication is critical.

If you send out a mass text everyone will be able to reply on that group text. I certainly wouldn’t want to be in on that. Unless you have another way of doing it?

    • @nicholasclaxon9959
      @nicholasclaxon9959 4 роки тому +6

@@412Lawn a mass text sends the same message to everyone selected and then when they reply I get individual responses back. Group text is where everyone can see each others responses.
Mass texting saves me time when I am trying to get the exact same message out to several people so that way I do not have to copy and paste. If you have an Iphone you can switch between mass texting and group texting in the settings. If you have an android you can just use Google messages and switch between mass and group texting.

That’s a great idea….But keep in mind, when you send a group text, you are now sharing your customers phone number with the other customers. Some customers might frown on that. JS 🤟

Thanks for the tips I’m 12 and have a small lawn mowing business I started. for now it’s mostly family neighbors and close friends I mow lawns for but, so far your tips helped me a lot and I’m making about 350 a week if I get clients and most of the money goes to supplies but so far I’m loving the business.

Goal is to earn LOYAL customers; you get more customers by word of mouth.
    The neighbours ARE watching.
My son has his own business, and neighbours go out into the street and ask him to take on their yard.
    Learn how to repair equipment.
Learn business skills, taxes, investment, worker’s comp, everything.
Smile warmly and be polite to potential customers.
You can keep your best customers.
Once you’ve got their yard in order, it will be easier to maintain.
My son uses an app to find the most efficient order to drive to each address; it shaved off 3 hours.

I hope all is well. I just found your videos. This is the first one that I have found. i recently decided that I am sick of working for "the man" at the age of 34 after seeing the success of my wifes salon suite that we started. I decided that lawncare is something I can do and something that will scale to the amount of effort I put in. This has been the biggest deciding factor for me leaving the service industry. Your videos have been amazing so far and have cemented some of my current ideas/thought as well as adding or changing others. I can't wait to dive in and learn more. You could do classrooms and lectures on the business aspects. Make a deal with a local hotel( which the participants would stay at) and use their grounds/turf/ conference room as the training facility. Just a Thought. Love watching your videos. Remember, there is never another chance to make a first impression on someone. Many times, when a customer comes out with the money to pay me, I'll say "this one's on me!". They are stunned. You'll never lose a customer who is loyal.

I'm 14 and I just started up my business with a push mower. My brother told me to just do as good of a job as I can, and thats what I do. I want my customers to be impressed and want me to mow again. When I do a good job I am also just proud of it.
Today I mowed 3 lawns and made $210. I think I am going to employ a friend to make it easier and knock out lawns quicker. I have been going with my brother because he (rightfully) thinks I need experience before I can just be dropped off.
Also, do you guys think a bigger mower would be a good investment when I can drive? I live In a hilly area so im not sure.

Id you have a lot of hills then a walk behind will be great for your business because they hold the hills very well and with a sulky you can hop on and off when needed, best to you!!!

i am preparing for next year, i know, i should be doing it now, but not really, i am only wanting 3-5 yards, as i have a full time job but am off every thursday friday saturday and go back sunday night, so church on sunday / lunch / nap..... no outside work on sunday, and you also have to figure some time in there for maintenance on equipment. I live in a decent size subdivision, and see a lot of trucks rolling through here with mowers so know a lot of people a;re paying for yard service, i dont want to take peoples business and not going to work for free....used to help my dad when he had a yard business, so not my first rodeo, but looking at making some extrra money...i ahve a nice ZTR now but notice a lot of people using the stand behind mowers on you tune, everyone around here uses riders...what is the advantage, also i will be offereing mulching, or bagging for leaves, and do you bid or do those at same price as mowing ? thanks for keeping it simple and wanting to help the new guys...

Maybe it was dry that day and it doesn't matter much but I try to enter and exit the yard on one or two spots to limit marks on the driveway or grass stains really doesn't matter much if it's dry out

Question! Should I get a bag mower? To start? Sometimes it piles too high. Charge extra for pickup? Maybe my current mower doesn’t mulch good enough? Is mulcher enough? Thanks!
