Hi. I have recently done everything you are doing now. Purely and simply to check the heater matrix and one for the a/c along with a clean up. The plastic clips are available from your OPC items. I replaced all to do with the linkages to future proof things. Didn't work out much to buy all 9 items. These are as follows :-
    13) bearing connecting rod
    944.572.313.00 (3 off)
    14) bearing connecting rod
    944.572.314.00 (3 off)
    15) spring clamp connecting rod 944.572.217.00 (3 off)
All above part numbers for the small plastic clips and the steel retainers.
*One note* when reassembling the control motors for the flaps I. E footwell flaps mixture flaps etc, make sure that the control motors are set to the final cool or closed position to make sure the connecting rods are going back in the correct positions rather than guessing. This can be done by applying a 12v source. To do this, connect pin 4 with a + 12v and pin 5 with a - 12v. This will set the motors to close. Close the relevant flap by hand and clip on the linkage. To do a check to see if the control motors work. Reverse polarity to pins 4 and 5 and motor will operate( open). I found out that my footwell motor had given up so ordered another one. Put the motor back to close with + v on pin 4 and - v on pin 5

This is great information, thank you. We will be running this again with the controller and see how it works out. Thank you for being a part of our crazy project!

Russ, nice autopsy of the hvac system. You sure have a talent for taking things apart! Question is, do you have the same talent for putting it all back together and getting it to work! Remains to be seen! I mean, you nearly have the entire car torn apart in individual components. It boggles my mind how you can keep all of that sh*t straight in your head! While I have the same curiosity as you, I have to put something back together before I move on to the next challenge, Otherwise, I would go insane! You really are a masochist at heart! Oh, BTW, happy Easter to you too!

We do have a lot apart. Still waiting for the wet blasting machine to function so we can clean and rebuild suspension etc. This will go back together in a few episodes. It won't require a lot of money to do. After that we rebuild the chassis wiring harness. Right now we're in trouble with parking, so we're trying to finish cars we have here and not take in any more. We may get our lease pulled. Then big trouble.

@@EuropeanAutoCraftStudios you know I am teasing you. But seriously, these cars are not exactly inexpensive to put back together again. A complete set of body weatherstrip and seals is about $2k. Engine mts $500/pair, strut mts $750/pair, even the brake caliper piston and seal sets run about $160 per caliper. Aside from all the components, drivetrain, engine and body rebuild and paint, the price is in the tens of thousands. No joke!

There are 3D files for the clips an the flaps for free to download. Printed them for my 86‘ 44 and they work great. I’ll see if I can find the link.
Great video as always btw. Keep going! Thanks!

Hi Sven, we have a 3d printer, the files for the clips would be awesome! The flaps all look good, but I would love to check that out!

Seriously. What is the goal here and what is the budget. I have watched many of your videos. I'm a huge 944..928 guy...Porsche guy in general and have learned a lot from these disassembly videos but i feel like i am watching a train wreck in slow motion as the train is simultaneously being taken apart. Splitting the HVAC core? why? This car WILL NOT get back on the road . Please..please...and i sincerely mean it.... prove me wrong later!! When it drives, i will subscribe...as you are at 944 subscribers right now and i dont want to be the one that changes that!

Ah ha, a non subscriber! Your not the first to say this. And there is a good chance this car won't get back on the road. The owner that had saved all the money now has none for this project. I have known him for a long time. He isn't in a hurry to get it done, so I asked if we could make our youtube channel starting with this car. Fun and educational for all. But, even though I have heavily discounted our labor for this, and only a very small mark up on parts, the bodywork was all his responsibility. Now, since we had to move so many cars out of our parking area, the car, and my car dolly are at his house. I decided to keep going with the rest of the project, except engine, because I want to keep the channel going. The parts, suspension, transmission, brakes, a/c, steering rack, etc, will all go back together. We want to hit the magical 1000 subscribers so we can monetize our channel. We are also starting a patreon and a go fund me for this project, only for the bodywork. You will see these parts go back together restored, and properly assembled. If that helps everyone in the 944 community, then I'm happy. No one has to pay anything for patreon or the go fund me. We will continue regardless.....

I am doing a complete ‘89 2,7 944 restoration on a car I drove to 216k 4 seasons of the year in the northeast US. I have to say that splitting the heater core was a mistake as this, electrical and my dash and glass are all remaining to assemble and I agree, the Denso HVAC on these work great. I bought a new heat exchanger and o-rings and clips but PITA! Good luck on the future of this. The color of this ‘86 is unique at least for 951. The instructions provided remind me that being careful with fitting, cleaning, assembling, torques, etc are critical and your summary of realigning settings is helpful and frightful.
