I'm also ready to be proven wrong, so I'm also intrigued.

Pure genius; if genius was a way of describing an egg that has sat in the sun all day and you wanted something warm and gooey that could roll down a hill with ease. Thank you for making this

haha really glad you like the videos and glad they scratch all those itches! that's what I'm aiming for! and yes, secretly all these videos are allegories for trans-ness and enby-ness. eg: the time travel video is actually about me deciding whether to transition or not. I hope to be a 'publicly slow transitioner' because it's what I wish I saw when I was growing up
This video is quite a definition of art. I watched the "Spellular Automata" video, then jumped into "New Cellular Automata", then "Top 9 ways to make Time Travel", then I just decided to binge the entire playlist. I thought these were just devlogs with creative presentation. But now I've reached the current cliffhanger of this saga. This is quite a unique experience I haven't really seen before. This video, to me, felt like it defined this saga as a whole: started with a concrete idea bound by certain expectations, subtly started going out of the box, then fully turned into an amorphic vessel to project your creativity onto, using loopholes inside the rules that you yourself created. This is a ship of Theseus that was partially repaired and rebuilt over time at first, but now you just create an entire new ship every episode. Then you turn that ship into a fractal. Sorry to interrupt, I'm writing this comment right now, and I've just realized I've started going off a tangent trying to make sense of my thought process projected onto your videos projected onto me. Maybe I'm not supposed to try to understand it all 100%. Either way, I'm here to enjoy the ride. I hope whatever is holding you back from creating the next episode (seeing how the 3 months thing has already been surpassed) is only temporary, and that you're doing well.
thanks, glad you're enjoying the ride :) i put whatever emotions i currently have into these videos, so they're usually based on something really specific, but i think the underlying emotions sometimes resonate with others too, sometimes not. all is well with the next video, I'm enjoying making it. it's taking longer for a number of reasons, like: it's an 'all-star' mix of some recurring themes (similar to define define), I'm using different editing software, I'm busier doing admin around the videos because of the channel growing, I'm doing a different thing with the background music. looking forward to it though :)
This is such a great and unique style of combining art, creativity and computer science in one video, I absolutely love it! By the way, HTML/CSS actually *is* Turing complete and therefore *is* a programming language. I once made Minecraft in it (without JavaScript).
I love the concept of Turing complete. As long as you have a simple set of concrete rules in a system, practically anything can be Turing complete. Once you have two logic gates, it’s Turing complete.
@@pixeltoucherFunnily enough, this also applies to programming-languages and bytecodes/machine-codes: It's possible to make a TC lang with 1 instruction/opcode, since this single instruction is allowed to do many things in sequence, such as conditionally-writing memory and conditionally-jumping
This video made me realize that lots of TodePond would fit really well on an educational TV series! Good vibes and imagery, not crazy technical while still being informative, and it doesnt take itself too seriously. BBC please pay Lu lots of money.
I rarely comment on any video (never did if I think about it) but I just have to now. I saw the first sandpond saga vid just a couple weeks ago but was hooked after the first minute. The combination of beautiful animations, story and code is phenomenal. Love it. Educational entertainment with a grain of trippy animations and voiceovers. Keep up the fantastic work.
It's safe to say this is one of my top 5 favorite videos on this entire platform, and it has been since the day I first saw it. To be honest, it might even be my very favorite. You found away to combine some of my favorite ideas, such as coding and philosophy into an extraordinary video that will always have a special place in my heart.
My god, im amazed by how simple your videos are but yet, they make me question the simplest of things. Please keep up your work and create more! Much love!
As someone who has a lot of computer science stuff on their youtube feed that is super technical, I love that your videos instead of getting very technical go much more into that philosophical and introspective direction. Really like your stance on definition (and powerpoint!) because when I try to come up with information about myself I struggle finding anything (eg. what music I like, what hobbies I actually have, what my primary interests are), it's much simple just being yourself, not thinking about it and enjoying the things you do!
Hey I found your videos on Mastodon and I just want to thank you for making them - they're all lovely and creative. This is probably my favorite channel I've come across in the past year.
I can imagine being very annoyed by comments "correcting" whether something counts as something. The HTML bit definitely gave me a giggle. Nice work as always.
I just discovered your channel recently, and they are definitely the type I will keep rewatching whenever they appear in my feed. A lot like Exurb1a but for (sometimes tangentially related) sand engine content. I love it.

I just recently found your channel and have watched most of your videos by now. Sad to see that you have not got more traction by now, you videos are really high quality. For what it's worth I would be happy to see new videos from you.
This video was awesome! I think it’s meaning or “definition” to other people differ. I saw it as exploring the fluidity and looseness of language and the human mind. We define things, but they aren’t always clear. They aren’t concrete and they can mean different things. What really is a “cup”, is a cup anything different from a pile of atoms? How do we differentiate between a cup and a bowl? What is art? Is scribbling art? Is everything created by human art? What defines anything, what defines define. Or maybe this wasn’t the message, maybe I just got the definition wrong.
I love this so much, the ideas are so unique, it's programming, and it's funny, and it's just a little out there. The little clarifications coming in to further specify it again and again was just amazing
I love that I can watch these videos, from some of them learn something, from all of them feel like I learn something. They are insanely creative. You're going to do great things.
Getting used to the brain massage of the other videos then watching the absolute frogfuzzle that is this video is definitely an interesting experience.
