Christopher Lee left a fantastic legacy. Corey Burton is a good replacement but Lee was still alive by dream drop. He probably was too expensive to get back but that money would've been worth it. Rest in peace Christopher Lee. May your heart be your guiding key.
To think Ansem used to be a good guy (and pals with good ol' Mickey), and then Luxu/Braig and Xehanort ruined his life turning him into a bitter man focused on revenge. At least he got to redeem himself in the end. Hell, he even contributes to Roxas' resurrection in KH3, and makes up with Ienzo, who he clearly thought of as a son.
I love how racist DiZ is towards nobodies lol, what a jerk but I'd consider it to be a good written trait. I also like the rage outburst of Roxas...Man, I hope they give him the spotlight in future games although to be fair, his storyline is pretty much finished.
I wish Corey Burton could give a performance that sounds less like a bored Yen Sid. Maybe something closer to his Hugo Strange, who sounded far closer to having Christopher Lee's nuances than most of Burton's outings as Count Dooku.
DiZ is the person who has sora in a long term sleep. Because of chain of memories, from castle oblivion sora lost his sense of self after the events of chain of memories. So to put sora back together, namine has to put back pieces of memories together. However those pieces were moved to someone else, sora's nobody Roxas. 358/2 is roxas starting from when he was first created, till the beginning of kh 2. He was not aware of what is a nobody, doesn't know that his original form came from sora, and so he was in the dark from any kind of information until after the events of chain of memories. Once Xion found out about everything that is going on, she betrayed the organization and needed roxas to put her down so sora's memories can go back to him because she as well hold partial memories too. then came the fight with Riku, to which he lost, but sora's memories came out and started the progression of restoring sora back after Roxas was defeated by Riku Ansem. To Roxas, DiZ robbed him of everything, his friends, his normal life, and telling him multiple times that a Nobody should never existed which made Roxas angrier.

DiZ is literally the worst character in all of Kingdom Hearts history (at least when in his DiZ form) because he's a completely abusive jack### to Roxas for literally no reason other than "wanting revenge on Xehanort" Seriously, HOW IS ABUSING ROXAS AND MAKING HIS FRIENDS THINK HE'S STUPID going to help him get back at Xehanort?
Year later, but DiZ really thought they were useless in his research. He saw them as parasites that only made recompleting a heart even harder. Seeing them formed as his previous apprentices felt like a mockery/betrayal to real humans. That’s why he treated everyone fucked up equally cause he never thought that they could actually feel anything at all. But yes he is completely missed up
he's an awful person but he's not a bad character, not by far the worst one in the series. His hatred for Nobodies is not randomly given, his flaws and horrible perception of Nobodies makes him a character.

Maybe late response, but I heard that around that time Lee was really ill, so he just couldn't go to studio for voice providing.
I agree i would choose Christopher lee always in a Fantasy game.
SE is cutting corners by finding cheaper voice acting. They refused to get Hayden Panettiere back. She said she would have loved to voice Kairi again.
