Just picked up my VSKA today. Tawny Mahogany stock color. Real wood. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm a AK guy through in through and I can't wait to see mine perform. Great video!
I have a vska s7 trunnion seems solid to me I lived in Alaska and had it out in -30f and it ran like a champ multiple times no freeze up or and problems now in Florida
The VSKA i have is One Heck of a Great AK47 , I have Run many Rounds Down Range from Factory to Reloads 123 gr to 150 grain Bullet's . Have had Absolutely no problem and Zero Issues ... Thanks for this Video !
I waited 8 years to get one. Hoping it’s a good one- reviews are mixed, but a lot of people bashing without shooting one. The people who have tried the VSKA mostly have said they’re good rifles.
Lol I've shot multiple budget AK's 200-300 yards accurately on iron sights (including 2 century's), just as I have all my budget AR's. In my experience, both platforms shoot around 2-1/2" groups at 100 yards with cheap brass. Modern Ak's shoot just as well as modern AR's- you can get both to shoot sub MOA if you spend enough...
Yeah I agree, and honestly I can probably not shoot as accurately as most of my rifles are capable. I just wanted an ak, with classic looks, that’s reliable. I’m sure I’ll be lucky if I put 1000 rds through this gun in a year, so the guys that have run 5000 rds through theirs without issue (and there have been multiple) and tested with go/no-go gauge and had them pass. I really like it, and can’t wait to shoot it
@@crankygunreviews Yeah I've had a few comments on my Century videos telling me they are junk and trash and this and that. They all referred me to videos showing "wear" at the 5000rd mark. But as you said, they still cleared the go/no go gauge, as well as still running reliably and accurately as well at that point (AK Operator, 500 yards after 5000rds). Also those were torture tests, mag mafter mag after mag back to back getting the rifles extremely hot. Metal becomes more malleable the hotter it gets, so the way they treated them was extremely brutal (a torture test) and they still survived albeit with some wear. It's good info for someone who plans to run the crap out of their AK or plans to shoot 10,000 rounds or more from it- but that's not me. Like you, I'd never have anything even close 5000rds down the pipe, so the fact that it wears faster than a $1000+ AK means nothing to me lol. Sorry but I can't afford a $1000 AK or afford to blast over $1000 of ammo out of my AK either, so it's a non issue for guys like us...
@@BuckeyeBallistics I agree- and like Colt owners, AK owners shit on anything that isn’t the best they can get. I have seen more good videos on these, and more garbage on forums backed up by speculation or history of older RAS47 or worse models. Real data, video recordings, I have seen more good than bad on these.
One test I did was is see how many rds it took to get the barrel upto 600 degrees Fahrenheit. After 600 degrees doesn't matter which model you wear that barrel out fast. So limit the mag dumping to save the rifling. It only took 60 to 90 rds firing fast to heat it to 600 degrees. I believe the century put good chrome lined barrels in
I don't think this barrel is chrome lined, website says chrome-moly 4150 barrels... Which is the steel formulation they use but not chrome lined. maybe it's the same or better, not sure. I usually don't mag dump more than one mag ata atime, and I am certainly not going to be doing torture tests on a gun I waited 8 years to get... I am not an IV8888 or Demolition ranch status channel LOL
@@brettcatterall7761 I’m hoping. Maybe I will help change the perception of these new manufacturer Ak’s that are out there, or at least Century models… it may not be the “best” comm block AK out there, but will it be good enough for the casual average shooter? I’m betting yes. I think I will keep a shooters log though, so I know my round count over time
My century groups well at 200 yards. Better than some ar15s. People talked bad on century but I see no abnormal wear on parts. 300 rds through it and the only problem we're the cheap promags.
Yeah I’d didn’t buy any cheap mags- trying to get all pre-ban or mil surp metal mags or high quality US made polymer when I can Most of the down talk I see on these has no basis in reality… all keyboard warriors saying “I’d never buy one” “older Century blew up” “they’re garbage” but most of the rea people who have shot the VSKA have had good results.
I’m trying to get my wbp furniture on today, did you have to sand the stock to get it to fit? I also am wondering if I should sand the handguards to make it work
I had to trim mine a little- I whittled it with a pocket knife, but a dremel with sanding drum would probably be a bit more precise. They make them so they can be made to fit about any AKM receiver with little modifications. Make sure you pre-drill screw holes, you don’t want it to split. And be careful the pins in the lower hand guard, they get wicked hot when you’re shooting
Mine did that the first time too. The oil finish and glue in the laminate. Once it cools down and heats up again it will not stink. To me it’s just like shooting a brand new gun, always have weird smells
It’s threaded, I’d have to clamp the barrel in a vise to screw it off most likely, it’s not like a standard AK with a spring loaded pin to hold it on, it’s more like an AR
Yeah, if the A.R. 15 is that good of a gun then why is it getting passed around the AK-47 can go through mud and dirt and slop and still function and out last and perform don’t listen to people telling you otherwise. The Ak47 has a deadly range of 400yr. With the 7.62.
400yds with open sights on an AK is very tough. The AK and AR both have hood and bad, BOTH can succumb to mud / dust- plenty of testing shows that. Is the ak maybe less susceptible? In some instances. I’d take either, I love both.
I’m talking about durability on the long term and yes any shot from 200 yards is tough with open sites but if you put a scope on it, you got something that will reach out there.
@@rammannawar1626 I don’t know man, most people who buy AR’s or Ak’s probably only shoot 500 rounds a year through them, if that… I’m not an AR or AK sympathizer, but for the average person, either will last as long as the other, unless you buy the cheapest of the cheap… like I do :)
