Don't think it's direct drive, from what I can see it looks very much like an early 1980s Tanashin (the one before the infamous TN21, clones of which are everywhere to this day). Same mech they put in Amstrad CPC, Atari and some Commodore data recorders. It will have a single belt (most likely 80mm x 1mm square), although as you point it's idler driven at take-up (the idler is a common failure point on these!).
Pinch roller is a commonly-available 13mm available at the usual places - parts for these are readily available because folk want to keep their 8 bit micros going.
I have seen a couple of variants of this (with cue/review) that use a flat belt but (and another with powered bridge lift) for the most part they're the same.

Thanks for the info. It sounds ok apart from the pinch roller dent. I'll probably move it on. I have 2 Sound Burgers, a good Walkman, three decent decks, one broken deck, and two that need work. Omg, I need to get rid of some stuff.

@@CBitsTech pfft, you're an amateur lol. I have a room full of random crap that I keep collecting and never move on... Probably a dozen CD players for a start. Yes, I'm unmarried lol.

Lol. I'm married but I have my office aka man-cave aka studio (😂) aka dumping ground for audio projects. Not buying anything else until I get rid of some stuff.

@@jasejj I understand this very well. I did once have an office but moved house and now have now a garage full of stuff. Problem is you collect so much it can take a long time beofre you get around to trying it out or fixing it.
