Ohhh how I love this video! ❤️ I havnt done any junkjournal yet, but that is my next thing to try. And I have watched sooo many "how to make a junkjournal" videos but this one is definitely one of the best ones I've seen!!! ❤️ Informative, interesting, helpful, good pace and it's possible to make with stuff that we already has in our little collecting mania hehe... But the first thing I've noticed was your voice and tone. Sooo kind and like balm to my ears. Almost comfortingly voice... So now I do have "more on my feet" (swedish proverb) so I can try and make my first junkjournal! Thanks alot and hugs from a Swedish junkjournal beginner 🇸🇪❤️
Welcome, welcome on board, and to this happy, and yes indeed, calm and relaxing place to journal! A lot of viewers say that about my voice... 🤭🤭 I am just so pleased that you enjoyed this. Thank you for popping by to watch. Just shout if you have any questions!😁💜🥰🌿
@@joiedefi I keep forgetting to mention this .. In case you haven't said this in any video (I don't remember hearing it) you might want to mention, next time you are sewing paper, that it's very important not to set the stitch length too small. Tiny stitches essentially perforate the paper such that it's very easy to tear apart. The thread is stronger than the weaken sewing line in the paper. There's a quilting technique called *paper piecing* where you want that to happen. Fabric is sewn to a paper pattern with small stitches, then the paper is easily removed. Handling a journal frequently is enough stress on the paper, with very close holes, to make them pop.
Okay... I'm going to make more single signature journals because I'm practically drooling over yours. ❤️ I really like hearing the paper tears, glue cap popping off, cutter cutting, etc. which one doesn't get with a voice over. Your instructions, decision making explanations and why you are doing what you do is spot on. Awesome teacher. 👍 Your video skills are professional, smooth, so well done. 👍 I'm very grateful to be a subscriber - still working my way back through all your videos *THANK YOU* ❤️👍🙂⭐
Looking over this vidio after sometime, I still use it s a guide for my Journals. Miss you so much hope your health is better and we can have you back soon.
Thank you for this Joie, I love all the ways of folding paper to save the images. This will really help me when I don't want to cut off an image. Thank you so very much for sharing.
Love, love this video! Have never folded papers like this & haven't ever seen it done before. Hope I can learn to do this. Thank you so much for doing this video 💖
This is the video I've been waiting for! Thank you so so much for taking the time to put this one together. I'm sure a lot of us will watch it again and again. It's a favorite for sure.☺
Absolutely love the way you share your thoughts on choosing papers and how to fold them! I actually made a collage journal cover like the one with the butterfly and stitching on the cover which I learned how to do by watching your other wonderful videos. Now, I need to choose my papers and finish my journal so I can have it with me for future travels. You are a treasure of information and ideas!! 💖🥰🙏
Hi Joie! Was watching another of your videos, where you make the collage strips from scraps. When you were using your splatter box, I thought to myself, you are wasting splatters! Why not line the bottom of the box with a piece of packing paper, so when you are done splattering the collage strip, or whatever, your “extra” splatters will not have gone to waste on the bottom of the box! Love all your videos, your techniques and clear explanations, and your soothing voice ❤️
Your methods have taught me so much. I really prefer to not always use digitals or coffee dyed papers. It took me a while to realize that true junk journaling slows so much more freedom to fill up the pages. You have shown us how to expand our concepts of "organization" and creativity. Thank you. By the way, my Joie sampler is in a one signature Joie style journal, replete with twine binding.
Very helpful video, Joie! Especially by adding the supplies list to the description box and then dividing the video according to when you begin each next step. I also appreciate your book recommendations for botanical journaling. Your finished journal is lovely - Thanks for sharing & teaching!
I did it! I picked the papers like I said I was gonna do, then the next morning (at about 4:30.. I haven't been sleeping well) I put together a Joie Journal in absolute record time, bound and all. Ready t'go for what's next! Hugs Joie, Ems♥️🤗🏜
Thank you Joie for such a brilliant video. I haven't folded papers in my journal as I wasn't sure what to do but thanks to your video I will now have a go. Have a good weekend ♥️xx
You're welcome. Maybe save the video...you can just watch the page fold part when you want. There are time stamps in the video description box to help. Have a lovely weekend 💗
Watching your videos today as in a bit of a rut/my journal is uninspiring, seems boring. Need some ideas!😊💕 hope youre feeling better Joie, i first watched you and Barbara in Covid and off I went!😊💕
I learned so much from this video. So much easier than the slicing through all the edges method. I loved the figure 8 binding as well. You have so much calm style. Hope you are doing well...
Wow, fascinating. Love your presentation and tips. Would never have considered using old book pages. Thanks so much for the supplies list. Happy to be a new subscriber.
Wow I caught the picture of Clare College & you stating your old college. I searched it & wow isn’t it beautiful. I absolutely love the Clare bridge. I bet you loved it there didn’t you? Oh I want to see the UK so much. Such beauty that is so different from beauty here in the USA
Thank you so much for this video Joie! I get overwhelmed thinking about the possibilities of how to bind a junk journal together and how many pages to use. I really love how you’ve simplified the process and emphasized that you don’t need to go out of your way to make or buy special papers. I have so many books! Thanks again. Excited to give this method a try!
I am so excited. I just put together a junk Turtle totally following your instructions. All my folds are not exactly the same but similar enough and I am so happy with it. And I have decided that I am going to fill it by watching more of your UA-cam channels. I do think I have some of your tags in my stash that I may also use. This junk Journal will take me some time but I am so looking forward to the adventure. And this will be my personal Journal. And maybe getting me on the track to making more journals in the style of joie de fi
This is one of the most valuable videos for getting your pages ready for your Journal. I just wish I could remember to go back to it again and again. One of the things that has been really great, I'm still sorry that you're not well, but it has got me to go back and redo other videos to help keep your Channel alive for you. So it has most helpful to me too.❤ blessings for your healing😊😊
I decided to do a glue book for my first one...all i get is ripple pages!!! Yes..ive wached all the videos...did all their suggestions...ok sonsoon this one
I followed this a while ago and I was thrilled with result. I am back in Spain for a month, and I've found the video again and I am about to make another. Thanks for sharing x
So good to go over this journal again. As my memory is not any good anymore I forget all the things that I have watched before. This is so helpful because I have so many big beautiful book that have pictures I don't want to cover up or cut into. I hope you are doing better. I will message you surname your last video it just is taking me time to get my head around what might be best to share with you
Love your videos! Do you always sew in your pages first, then add ephemera, or do you ever decorate all the pages as you want them, then sew them together into signatures? I am a beginner and feel overwhelmed by all the choices I face without spending money. Thanks in advance for any tips anyone has out there!
Even knowing the word Amazing is so overused these days… I can think of no other word that so describes you and your teaching style! Wow! 🤯 THANK YOU! New subbie here, definitely! 💜💜💜🕊💐
WOWSERS IMPRESSIVE and BEE-utiful Joie. You always have something great to help with our projects!! I appreciate all you do for us.Hoppy 🐇 Spring Dear Friend. Guess what.. my Great Grandson, Julian Christopher, made his debut on 4/7/22. My hunny's birthday! He arrived at 4:53am! He weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces. I’m not sure at the moment how long. We're over the moon. Sry I'm Mia still I needed a hiatus from social media. 🐞✌️🕉️
Love the project. Thanks for sharing. Please be blessed. Happy crafting on a budge. Happy everything on a budget. See you in the next video and on the flip side.😇😇🌹🌹
Joie, I received the book, *Animals and Plants of Britain and Europe* that you recommend and it's an *awesome* source of images in an extraordinary range of Nature... plants, mammals, sealife, insects, etc. It's a wealth of images for journaling. Thanks for sharing this valuable resource. 👍🙂❤️
So inspiring...Thank you for so many great ideas! I immediately ran to my book stash and put together a quick little journal with just book pages of all sorts. I'm looking forward to playing in it!
Good morning😁. Junk journaling is so beginner friendly. Lol yes my pegs moved up into my craft room too 🙊. WOW, Cambridge? Very cool and beautiful architecture😍😍😍. Great folding ideas and more interesting than cutting them down. Awesome Joie😁 thank you! Tfs and have a great week 💖💖💖
Joie, I have started a journal in a 'folio' style, using a large Amazon shipping envelope. I think this will be fun. The issue I have (and I emphasize, it is MY issue and not common that I've seen) is I don't care for the pictures, music, and text to be sideways. It's probably indictive of some sort of disorder, but the sideways things just bother me, even though I look at your work and love it. So, how about, just for the heck of it, you figure out and demonstrate how to use book pages etc. in the 'upright' position? In the hundreds of thousands of junk journal builders, I may be rare, if not unique. Anyway, love your videos, you creativity, and willingness to share and encourage. My Little Brian Paint Sticks were delivered from Amazon today! I have new gold acrylic paint. And I have another batch of books coming from Ebay. You are an influencer! Looking forward to a video for the uprighters among us.
I smiled when you said I'm an Influencer..... apparently so!!! I'll work on that homework question that you set Diane 🤣 upright text. Very important!!!!👍😁💜🌿
Oh how much I love your You Tube videos! You are the best!! I am just beginning to junk journaling, and your videos are so so helpful. I can't wait to make my own book. Thanks for the easy step by step process!!
I think I have watched this video before…but I just love the choices of pages and the folding. Can’t get enough of looking at your journals and feeling inspired. I have trouble limiting to 12 pages…so many pretty pages!
Aww, that's fabulous...on Friday, ie my next video, you can see me decorate this particular journal. It's looking a bit chubbier!! Thanks so, so much for popping by to watch Pamela, 💜👍🥰
Joie ~ I love this explanation and I love the pages you have and use. May I ask you though, do you use your books more as glue books that writing journals? I ask because I noticed you have very few plain pages on which to write. Additionally, they are all so beautiful that I wouldn't want to cover them up! Thank you.
This is the best ever tutorial. Sometimes I get so confused when choosing which papers and which direction. I keep coming back to your tutorial. Thank you ever so much.
I definitely want to make one. I think I'll use a brown paper bag for the cover. I'll paint it with some gesso and make a design with acrylics. I'm a bit arty I'm a beginner though. So I'd like to incorporate some art.
I love this video, so many new folds to include. Like other comments I need to see how you decorate the pages. I look forward to your upcoming video for this. Thank you for sharing.💜🐞
I love this. I started journaling at beginning of the year. But nothing I had or found made me happy. But junk journals appeal to me, plus I can add what I like and want in a journal. I only knew elements, so thank you for explaining a few things.
August 8..2024.. Praise the Lord for His Grace and Mercy.Thank you Jesus for everything you've doing for us past, present and in the future. You're so good to us. Joie I always learn so much from you. Even if I've seen it before. Stay focused , we're on our way to victory. 💜💜👍🙏🙏❤Keep a smile on your face😊
What a fantastic tutorial! I have lots of new ideas now for my next journal. I needed to know how to use the large pages with great images in the best way. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for a great explanation! The folding not only saves your paper but also adds interest. I love the beautiful books you found for pages. I'll have to go to the thrift store and look for some.
Wow ive never seen these kind of videos, all you paper is so beautiful. I only wish i could do this im really not creative though , but i could watch you make these all day!
Thank you so much for this. I am a complete beginner and had no idea how to start. I am going to try all these techniques to get comfortable working with paper and develop an understanding of how to create and combine all those interesting tucks and folds.
This was so much fun putting together. But it really does take time to find the pages that I want to make the interesting fold. I know I will get better at it the more I do it. Can't wait to add envelopes and flip-flops and all those special things that you do
Hi Bethany... thanks so much for watching. I'm not sure I understand your comment. What does Designs by BLO Ireland mean in each of your comments? Would love to understand these better. 🥰👍
I never see anyone making and filling horizontal journals. I would like to see you make and fill a few of them I think that would be different and fun.
Great feedback Laurie, you're right, there's not a lot of it about. Here's something I did a while ago but I need to do more!! Good prompt, thank you!! 💜💜🌿 ua-cam.com/video/1RE-sYWmkrM/v-deo.html
What about instead of tearing the page out of your Florida book that you check the binding and find the signature, remove staple or cut threads and take out out the double page.
Joie this is my very favorite video, I've had such a hard time coming up with ways to treat beautiful pages I didn't want to cut, so many on You Tube cut the pages. I feel validated now to fold the beautiful pages and keep them as they are. Trying to think of other ways now to fold paper without doing Origami. I so wish you would come back, we all miss you, maybe we could be of comfort to you..Big hugs, and prayers!
Im very new to junk journal's but I want to make some for presents and am absolutely thrilled with your channel Joie!! Ive been binge watching to learn :) I am curious, why are the pockets and things that go into junk journals called signatures??? Thanks and thanks so much for your channel!! It is massively helping me!! OH!! Ps: I found that on ebay you can find loads of very cheap old books for these :)
Aaah, that's a great question. It relates to many hundreds of years ago, when a chapter in a book was hand written and it was super valuable. The person creating the chapter (often illustrated) would sign the pages, hence it became known as a "signature"🥰👍
I made my 1st JJ for a friend, inspired by one of your videos.. for my 2nd JJ, I would like to try more of these page folds.. I just need to find good old books with pretty pages 😊 I have a question.. how do use the pages- to write, for instance, without covering the beautiful images? thanks for all the inspiration ❤🌷 love from NZ.

Tip: if using bull dog clips, fold an index card within the clip so it doesn't make marks on your pages.
Good idea!!🥰👍

I love this. I started journaling at beginning of the year. But nothing I had or found made me happy. But junk journals appeal to me, plus I can add what I like and want in a journal.
I only knew elements, so thank you for explaining a few things.
Thanks very much, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this!
Fantastic useful tips in this video, thank you. I’m just about to start my 2nd ever journal so I will be using some of these tips! Thanks Joie x
That's wonderful!!❤️💜🌿
I really love how you make your junk journal...still learning ..I hate sewing in...I use a elastic or thin ribbon..
Elastic or ribbon is great too!🥰💜👍
This is a super helpful video. I will definitely be referring back to it. Thank you so much!
You're very welcome Michele 🤓👍❤️
I bought an awl at the fabric store! And it was on sale 1/2 $ so 2.50 Can. You never know what you find there.
Awesome find Jayne!! You're kitted out!👍🥰
I've ordered the Flower Album by Henry Terry 🙂
This is so very helpful because I struggle with this very thing. Thank you!!!!
Great to hear that it's helpful Peggy! Welcome to my channel!💜

What a fantastic tutorial! I have lots of new ideas now for my next journal. I needed to know how to use the large pages with great images in the best way. Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure 🥰👍
Great video, Very detailed and again I love that you’re using everyday junk. Lol. Thank you Joie.

Hi Josie! I really enjoyed this video. I might just attempt it again to do a journal. Fingers crossed. Tfs. 🤗
Great idea, fingers crossed !!🥰👍💜
Thanks for a great explanation! The folding not only saves your paper but also adds interest. I love the beautiful books you found for pages. I'll have to go to the thrift store and look for some.
Splendid!!💜👍
Wow ive never seen these kind of videos, all you paper is so beautiful. I only wish i could do this im really not creative though , but i could watch you make these all day!
You can definitely do it...just start, do what you feel like and see what happens!! Take care!!💜
Thank you so much for this. I am a complete beginner and had no idea how to start. I am going to try all these techniques to get comfortable working with paper and develop an understanding of how to create and combine all those interesting tucks and folds.
Fantastic!! Welcome to my channel Hilary, welcome on board!!👍🥰💜
Thank you, I love the way you explain all your steps , thank you for sharing❤️
You're very welcome Beja, welcome to my channel!💜
I have always wondered how to get the fun folds in journals. Thanks so much for sharing. I really enjoy your teaching style too.
Thanks so much!!👍😁💜
Great video. A lot of new page possibilities. Thank you.
Excellent!! Thanks Beth!🥰
This was so much fun putting together. But it really does take time to find the pages that I want to make the interesting fold. I know I will get better at it the more I do it. Can't wait to add envelopes and flip-flops and all those special things that you do
Splendid 🤗💜🌹
Fantastic folds. Obviously it has if can have some nice colourful books.
💜💜
I really love this method! I am going to start using it to mass make journals with just book pages! I have lots of different books!
Great idea, that sounds like a lot of fun too!!🥰👍💜
Designs by BLO Ireland - Great pocket ideas!
Hi Bethany... thanks so much for watching. I'm not sure I understand your comment. What does Designs by BLO Ireland mean in each of your comments? Would love to understand these better. 🥰👍
I really liked this journal style and am keeping my eye out for the style of books you recommend. No blank paper is used so how do you journal in it?
I add those papers to write on as and when I need to, I glue them in ...or I put paper in pockets which I add. That sort of thing. 💜👍
An excellent suggestion!🤓👍💜
Thank you Joie. You have inspired me. I must find a copy of the book you used for the cover.
Thanks very much!💜
Love how you preserve large images.
Thanks very much 🥰🥰
it only takes a second to comment n let the adds roll, right? i'm still ur "follower" and u r a breathe of fresh air. TY again n again.
You're welcome, thank YOU so much!!🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜
You are such a good teacher and have a great way of explaining things! I love your videos ❤
Thanks Alana
Joie this is my very favorite video, I've had such a hard time coming up with ways to treat beautiful pages I didn't want to cut, so many on You Tube cut the pages. I feel validated now to fold the beautiful pages and keep them as they are. Trying to think of other ways now to fold paper without doing Origami. I so wish you would come back, we all miss you, maybe we could be of comfort to you..Big hugs, and prayers!
I will be back one day. Thank you so much Gina 💜
@@joiedefi ok Joie, take good care...❣
A suggestion is to glue felt on the inside of your bulldog clips with hot glue to help with those unwanted indents on the paper. (It works for me)
That's a great idea!!😁👍💜
Thank you for showing the different folds that can help us preserve those larger pages in a journal.
You're welcome Phyllis, I know that a few people asked for this a while ago so I guess it was about time...🥰👍💜
Im very new to junk journal's but I want to make some for presents and am absolutely thrilled with your channel Joie!!
@@joiedefi Ohhhhh!! Well that makes loads of sense!!!
I accept that I have to cover up some of the pages 🤔🤔
@@joiedefi Thanks Joie. I guess that is the way to go, sometimes.
One of the things I love about your journals is the use of book page. I do not like to use digitals or too many card stock.
I completely understand that 👍👍😁💜
