  • This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2024 Kia Seltos subcompact crossover/SUV. What’s New? There are updates to the exterior, interior and infotainment system with available larger screens. It has a redesigned front grille, new wheel designs and a new rear light bar. The 2024 Kia Seltos 1.6T has more power, an extra 20 horsepower compared to the previous model and a new 8-speed automatic transmission which replaces the 7-speed dual clutch transmission which some felt to be a bit jerky. There is also a new X-Line trim if you prefer a more rugged design with a gun metal front grille, 18” black wheels and X-Line badging.
    The 2024 Kia Seltos interior is more refined than the previous model with less hard plastic, but there is some piano black at the centre console and on the doors. Cloth seats are standard, available leatherette and cloth or full leatherette. The updated infotainment system comes with an available 10.25” touchscreen with navigation, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto and a 10.25” digital driver display. The smaller 8” touchscreen has wireless. For those who like buttons, there are plenty of them including a volume knob.
    The 2024 Kia Seltos has some excellent available features for the non-luxury subcompact category including, a heated steering wheel, power driver’s seat with memory, a power passenger seat, sunroof, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a power tailgate. There is no panoramic sunroof offering on this model.
    In the US, the 2024 Kia Seltos does not have a heated steering wheel, a power passenger seat, driver seat memory or heated rear seats.
    In Canada, the 2024 Kia Seltos LX FWD is $27,794 CAD, AWD $29,794 CAD, EX FWD $30,295 CAD, AWD $32,794 CAD, EX Premium $36,094 CAD, SX 1.6T $38,394 CAD X-Line 1.6T $40,994 CAD. Pricing includes delivery and destination charges.
    In the US, the2024 Kia Seltos LX AWD $24,390 USD, S FWD $24,990 USD, S AWD $26,490 USD
    EX FWD $25,790 USD, EX AWD $27,990 USD, X-Line 1.6T $28,690 USD, SX 1.6T $29,990 USD.
    The 2024 Kia Seltos 2L 4-cylinder AWD gets 8.8L/100 km, 27 MPG city and 7.5L/100 km, 31 MPG highway. The 2024 Kia Seltos 1.6T gets 9.4L/100 km, 25 MPG city and 8.7L/100 km, 27 MPG highway.

    When I got my Seltos SX in 2021, being a GM / Corvette guy, I did drive the Trail Blazer, which is bigger, but in NO WAY better. I was out of there quick and over to KIA. 2 years later? Love this little SUV. I have to again note that Canadians really do get the best Options (not only Andrea) with the Seltos which are NOT available in the USA, go figure. Even asked my dealer to install HUD? Nope! Great review as always guys. As to Mileage, I get 27 mpg around town with the "turbo" and dual-clutch transmission and about 30 mpg on the highway (even as high as 32 mpg if its not 100 degrees outside), unless doing 80, then it dips down to 28 mpg and sometimes these Red & Blue lights appear in the rear view mirror.

    The Kia warranty is hard to beat. My wife has a 2014 Sportage that had few issues over the years and is looking at another Kia. Comparably to my Ford F150 that had me knowing the service department far to well due to the endless recalls and service alerts and a warranty that has ended far sooner than a Kia one.

    Thanks so much for your videos, I have watched so many this year. I purchased a car for me (X5) and the first car for my daughter (Seltos). I seriously want to continue watching your videos because they are so good, even though I don't plan another car purchase 🙂.
    On the path to buy the car for my daughter, we tested and researched all the suspects. For us, It came down to the Sportage, Corolla Cross, and Rouge. Not happy with the back seat leg room of the Corolla Cross, I was intrigued with the 2024 Seltos. Safety features was high on my list. The Seltos EX has a boatload of significant modern safety features I was looking for. The Forward Collision detection and assist, Blindspot detection and assist, Rear Cross-Traffic detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, to name a few. It is very feature rich value. And although I was diligent about seeing that all these cars had front and rear range sensors, It escaped me on the Seltos (she was starting school in a week 😲). With all the great features and technology - it does not have basic sensors (available for decades) to alert you if a nearby obstacle is front or back of you. I was a little dumbfounded, with all advance feature it has, and this absence. We are still very happy with the purchase, but I might have gone with the Corolla Cross XLE which has this feature.

    Your videos are just getting better and better, they’re comprehensive, easy to understand, realistic, and extremely informative for those who are in the know and for those who are not. Please keep up the good work, there’s just so many good cars out there, and a few bad ones. Of course, your information is critical to us. .Really like the fact that you discuss the price points also And go into detail about different levels and competitirs, it’s so important to so many people today. Also need to mention the so important fact that so many of us watching your videos may not have easy accessibility to dealerships of some of these cars and unless we want to travel great distances, basically have to stay to a more limited field, so it’s great that you cover the ground of all models . Most of us don’t want to drive an hour to have our car serviced or to look at them. Keep up the good work and thank you.

    Great review as always! IMO the lack of at least a hybrid option for this is a miss by Kia. The mpg of the Corolla Cross Hybrid just blows this away, though it does not have all the features of the Seltos. I'm willing to forego the extra features for that great mpg of the Cross Hybrid. But I have to admit that the Seltos is a better looking car without a doubt.

    This has slightly more cargo space than my 2015 Sportage, which I traded for a Sorento V6. Kia and Hyundai are knocking it out of the park with great content and quality for a lower price than any of the competition. Not sure why so many (who probably never even drove one) have such a hate-on these days. This isn't 2005!

    They ditched the dual clutch due to issues people were having with it at low speeds in a few of their vehicles. Like the Santa Cruz, it had to be recalled for the DCT. Twice, in some cases. As TFL mentioned when they had a long term tester from Hyundai, it had to be reprogrammed twice to eliminate issues, as the first time it went in, it became worse.

    • @srfarley11
      @srfarley11 10 місяців тому +1

      Good riddance to the DCT. The one on my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe failed with only 10000 miles on it. I traded it in for a 2023 Kia Sportage while the Santa Fe was still waiting for a new back-ordered transmission.

    • @hokdon
      @hokdon 9 місяців тому +1

      I actually don't mind the DCT on my '21 Seltos. 43k miles and no issues whatsoever. It eventually settles a bit as it learns your driving style/habits. I like it because it gives me a bit of that manual tranny feel. But I get while some don't like it. I drive on all kinds of roads and in the city. This car is awesome in all terrains and drive locations. And the interior space. I'm 6'1" and about 240lbs...I can fit in this thing comfortably compared to the competitors. Esp anything out of Subaru.

    Zach always looks terrified at the beginning of these videos when Andrea is taking off. I enjoy the reviews but two things I would like you guys to touch on with all these different brands is the overall reliability of specific brands along with the CVT transmissions. I've done some searches and had conversations with mechanics that don't feel like brands like Hyundai and Kia hold up in the long run. I only say this because I own a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and had to get an engine replacement. I generally like the looks and drivability of different brands, but reliability is an important thing to me. We've all heard that Honda and Toyota have good reliability, but do these other brands that have models that have been out for a while hold up better than they did in the past.

      8 speed is considered one of the best on the market. The dual clutch (not on this anymore) is a fantastic transmission if you understand what it is and you do not essentially add wear to the clutches by crawling at low speeds - the dual clutch turns out is ideal for hybrid use as the batteries locomotion takes care largely of the low speed errors people make.

    Really, really love this vehicle as a grocery-getter but I think, for most people, the 190hp turbo is a minimum. Only problem is, when you spec it out with the better engine you're looking at $30,000 and for that money, the Sportage is only a few thousand dollars more and is a roomier, much more luxurious choice. This vehicle only makes sense in lower trims but driving with only 150 hp would scare me.

    • @GlennLaycock

      the 2.0L is very peppy with the iVT - it is rather shocking to me. It even makes the little motor in the Venue rather zippy in most city and normal highway driving. It is perspective of want and need, but if lower budget is an real influencer you will likely be "oh this is more than fine - I will take the better mileage and keep more savings in the bank".
