Very nicely explained. A neat trick you can do with this as well, is you can amplify sections on individual tracks so that the sound seems to travel from your left to your right or vice versa. I've used this on effects for my video game (Deluxe Pacman) for certain effects to rapidly go from left to right and back. Simple to do, but sounds great.
So amplifying is to lower the volume. Thanks! I've always been moving the gain to the negatives thinking that it would make my vocals more quiet, but it doesnt.
So you can use Amplify to raise OR lower the volume, or use it to fix bits of clipping? I've been trying to do readings, and I'm currently struggling with getting the volume good and loud while also trying to avoid clipping at all. Maybe it's the combination of my microphone volume and recording volume, but I tried to use Amplify to up the volume of the whole reading after I was done recording. It didn't increase it by much, and my efforts to try and increase it bit by bit left me worried about inconsistent volume. But I thought maybe I could use Amplify to fix those bits of clipping in the base recording in post, just so I don't have to worry about it or try to redo louder bits, because it's so hard to try and be loud and energetic (like say, when someone is yelling or distressed) and yet not clip, you know? But...does using amplify to fix clipping STILL leave the audio distorted? Or, if the clipping portion is really small, would you even be able to tell?
Tx. I want to record the sound from a streaming broadcast. While in the record mode moving the mic slider at the top of the Audacity player has no affect on the recording volume level. Can you give me direction? Tx very much.
Thank man. I needed that info in the worst way!! Trying to navigate Audacity has been tough for me. I think I will look at you other lessons also. Thanks again
I Just started learning this software!! Its very useful as your channel is the only one which I've found with proper content & awesome teaching skills !! Sir Thank you so much for your lessons !! It's my 2nd day with my best friend we both are learning this software😊.
Very well explained. Kudos to you. I noticed you avoided using the word "attenuate" although I'm sure you know what that word means. Did you avoid this word because it sounds to "techie"?
Great video mate, quick question? do you have a video that shows you how to lower your import DB levels? cause i'm using the factory settings i feel they might be a tad high loads of the audio is near clipping. wanna minus maybe to -4db stay in the amber. cheers
I’ve been trying to make a few videos for UA-cam but had issues with original audio source. The wave peaks in my tracks for whatever reason were very low even though the sound was pretty loud. After using the compressor effect and normalise audio I increased the gain to increase the volume. I then had the track levels where I wanted them then rendered with video in Vegas pro and the end project was fine. Once uploaded to UA-cam however I noticed it was normalised their end to -12dB. Would adjusting it this way fix it as it amplifies the wave? Always confused me why they were so small considering I was hearing it load. Think I increased the dB in Vegas and it did improve output once uploaded? Does this make sense as I think I’m understanding it now, thanks.
It is a good tutorial. But I have a suggestion. When you amplify, reduce or distort a section of a track it will be even more helpful if you play it and make your viewers listen to the actual distortions rather than just describing the histogram, which is obvious. So audio is not what you see but what you hear.
Hi. I watched like 6 of these bad boys and only you got to the point. I adjusted my Amplify to a negative # like you said and boom chicka wow wow. Thank you 🌹 💋
The sound of my android smartphone is way too loud even at minimum when I play music. I tried apps to lower the volume down minimum but they don't work as promised. With this tutorial I will finally be able to enjoy my music again
I'm having something strange happen with this, if I try to select a small portion of the file and decrease the volume of it, when I move the slider to the left to decrease it, it actually increases it. If I move it to the right, it also increases it and actually clips it. This is even if I increase or decrease by just 0.1 If you can offer any insight on what might be happening here and how I can actually lower or increase the volume of sections of file that would be amazing! :) Thank you!

That's a cool trick. Thanks for sharing!
@@TJFREE could you do one about equalizing the volume of multiple audio/music files?
So amplifying is to lower the volume. Thanks! I've always been moving the gain to the negatives thinking that it would make my vocals more quiet, but it doesnt.
No amplifying totally depends on you, if you want to lower down the sound you can go with lower decibles and vice versa.
Where is the actual tutoriaal.what you explained was self talk🙄loud thinking
Thank youuuuuuu!! 2 years later, saving my butt 😆
thanks man! This was very helpful

How do I gradually reduce the sound of the wave
Thank you so much. I was able to mod the alarm sound to a bearable volume since my alarm clock's min level was still way too loud.
Hahaha the things we do for extra minutes of sleep😂
This video was a lifesaver, thank you for the straightforward, informative content!

How to control condenser 8000 microphone gain in Audacity?
*THANK YOU SIR! I NEEDED TO KNOW THIS FOR MY ASMR VIDEOS.*

how can i match all thoe waves in one level
Thank you so much! Your video is really helpful! Dropped a like!!
Thank you. I'm a beginner this was very helpful. That was quick and simple. Awesome.
I search for "audacity record volume keeps lowering." Your video shows up on the search and utterly fails to address the problem.
Thanks! How many dB should it be on average? (I don't mean LUFs but the audacity levels, as seen up, by the loudspeaker icon in audacity).
If i use amplification in 6hz or other hz, will the hz change or nah?

Editing some music for an important presentation, the music was too loud and this is just what I was looking for. Thank you :D
