Jordi Vinyals as far as three videos in the same style that interconnect, yes. It doesn’t mean the end of Konami based videos, but anything after Parodius would be slightly different. Like if I did I Castlevania, it couldn’t be like, hey look at these weird games never released in English you know? I’m kind of stuck with too many ideas and not enough time to do them. Man you are seriously surprising me. Goemon is literally one of my favorite platforming franchises and mascots. In one of the episodes of Game Center CX (season 2, ep. 9 Rockman 2) Arino interviewed the producer of the Goemon series Ebisu Etsunobu. During the interview Ebisu said that the character Ebisumaru was created as a joke based on him, i don´t know if that´s true.
OMG!!!!!!!!! thanks for this great video, friend,i AM a hardcore fan ,of mistical ninja o gambare goemon!!!!! greetings from México city, saludos amigo!!!!
While the DS Goemon game being the last great title in the series is a bit sad, the good news is that the qame did inspire Nintendo's Takahiro Harada to develop a new Wario Land game for the Wii & hiring some of the former Konami devs that worked on said Goemon game. This led to Good-Feel developing the aforementioned & fantastic Wario Land: Shake It!/The Shake Dimension & paving the way for the devs to create great titles like Kirby's Epic Yarn, Yoshi's Woolly World & recently released Yoshi's Crafted World.
Man, I just loved the mystical ninja game when I was younger. The music of the game is underrated, both including the amazing intro, the impact theme, and the OST. Thanks for Making this video
Awesome work, it's great seeing someone that knows the history of the character and series, not just the English games. Such an amazing but underrated series here in the states that needs a lot more love. The games may be over, but I'll always remember them as such a huge part of my youth.
Hey thanks! I didn’t know much at first but being in Japan you just absorb it all. Just the English games really isn’t the full story. In fact I see some channels don’t even know the first game and just the ones on N64! Anyway This video was the last one I just put out a new one today if you got time for something a little different, check it out. Thanks for watching 🎌
Such a shame that he never really caught on in the West. Mystical Ninja on N64 is one of my all time favorite games. First rented it and beat it in a weekend way back when. I hope he can make a come back some day.
Personally I don’t think it’s the lack of cultural understanding about Goemon, the games were fine without that. It’s just the industry was so red hot, there just wasn’t enough space for everyone to reach the top. Thanks for watching and sharing your opinions!
@@GTV-Japan I completely agree. I think he just didn't get a proper marketing push the way Contra or Castlevania did, which are obviously more Western influenced titles. I knew maybe like 2 people who had actually played the SNES title and I only played it on an emulator years later. I remember seeing EGM magazine cover the PS2 game briefly and that left me with major blue balls 😂
It would've been the perfect opportunity for Konami to release the DS Goemon game worldwide. I hope one day it gets a fan-translation, those been dropping quite a lot lately. Great video and justice for Mystical Ninja!!
Sony is so problematic... never realized how much. I love your commercial breaks btw, being relevant with having the game or franchise you're talking about.
Thanks! I don’t care for when a video just jumps to an ad break so I thought this would be a creative way around the problem. Oh yes sony was very stubborn on its image and when games the ps1-2-3 should have. You’d think by going after the older market that would mean games that kids wouldn’t like it that weren’t xtreme and cool but seems they pushed that a lot
Another amazing and comprehensive retrospective of a very deserving series, thank you so much! When I learned of the real Goemon's gruesome demise it somewhat soured me on the comedic tone of the games... Anyway, the super famicom iterations are my favorites, still waiting for fan translations of 2, 3 and 4 to really get into those. It appears at this point they will never be done...
Hey Ernest! I’m glad you liked the video. I agree with you, at first I’m thinking why do they celebrate this guy? It’s a horrible way to die. But the culture is different so maybe that’s part of it. I looked pretty deep and found no efforts to translate the 16 bit games which is a shame. Hmm maybe the camera translation apps will be good enough to use to ply through them? Just an idea. Thanks for watching
That Legend of Mystical Ninja game on SNES sure is to blame why I became such a huge Japanophile. It was JUST the right kind of crazy that I loved even then.
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon on Nintendo 64 is easily my favourite. A good mix of Mario 64 & Zelda Ocarina of Time gameplay styles. Also the anime singing cutscenes are good.
Ah, Goemon! Miss this beloved series, glad it saw some light here in the states. I had a hard fascination with the N64 game as a kid, so much so I ended up buying it again twice after it was lost. After that, I bought the N64 sequel and original SNES games (both pricey), and bootleg carts of the other 3 SNES games in English... plus the DVD set. I guess I became a fan.
My favorite part about the Goemon games is the music that mixes jazz funk with traditional Japanese music. Legend of the Mystical Ninja on N64 has one of my favorite soundtracks.
My favorite is Mystical Ninja starring Goemon. It's one of my favorite games of my childhood! I want it to come to Nintendo Switch online and I would love the series to come back! I love that game so much that I want a remake of it!
What a coincidence, I’ve just been playing a lot of Ganbare! Goemon on the Famicom (recently got the cartridge in the mail, and it came with Japanese snacks to boot!!). So far I’ve made it as far as stage 5, but the game started glitching up at that point and eventually froze up on me (I use a front loading NES with a 72-pin adaptor, so that unfortunately tends to happen because there are so many electrical contacts that can wind up not connecting properly).
Hey great! I hope you can finish it. You could always look for an AV family computer which with enough patience you can get a good deal on what snacks were they?
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t need to buy a Famicom, the issue isn’t that big of a deal, not to mention that I’m only a teenager that just got finished with high school, I’m not made of money and I’m still looking for a job (I bought my copy of Goemon during an eBay binge wasting all my graduation money). As for the snacks, I got this fish shaped cookie thing that was filled with chocolate, and this weird curry flavored cracker stick thing that I wound up throwing in the trash because I simply don’t care for foods that are so potent that your sweat ends up smelling like whatever you just ate.
Me again. Got myself an Everdrive so I don’t need that shitty converter unit anymore. In fact, in the 2 years since I last commented here, the converter I had broke and I had to get a new one, and then I got the Everdrive and that changed everything. Keep up the good work with these vids!! And remember: “winners don’t accept Raid: Shadow Legends sponsorships!!” Also, how do I make your Top Commenters scoreboard? I see that in every video and have no idea how to get my name up there.
I thought I had you on one of them! I’ll go back and look. How to make the board? Hmm I go thru comments and the most thought out detailed or touching comments make the rankings. I have no system other than usually ever few weeks some really really stand out
I swear I’ve commented on this video before. This series will always hold a special place in my heart. The SFC games (the second game in particular) was the reason I got into learning Japanese ^_^. I wish I had grown up with the N64 game instead of the “meh” GB game I had. At least the music was good. Good vid and thanks for making!
I think you have! But I swear I have never ever deleted a comment before. Even negative ones! If there was a link or some word google didn’t like it may have disappeared 👻 I saw somewhere recently that the n64 game is now sell for $120+ now?! I can’t believe it
This has been one of the best video features I've ever seen on the legacy of Goemon! If only Konami would revive in the series in some kind of way or localize some of the games that we never got to have
Wow dude, another amazing little doc on a game series I always wanted to get into. I only have the first SFC game but one of these days I'll play through it. I had no idea there were 8-bit iterations before that!
Hey Kevin, glad you enjoyed it. The 8 bit games and arcade game are pretty easy to get through. Not much reading needed. I put links to the fan translation of the 2 FC rpg Gaiden games if you want to try them
Thanks! I was wonder what kind of feel these videos have on other people. I’ve been in japan so long I don’t even know what else to do but imitate Japanese style TV. But I never liked the idea of ads ( except that they pay for everything!) interrupting a videos flow and so this way to me is a way to keep things fun and not break up the action so much.
This game took me forever to beat because I was just grinding and farming EXP and $$$ because I play like I live in real life... with nothing but the best thing. To me fighting with the best weapons and stuff made it easier.
Azzamatic after about the 20 minute mark I used remixes some creative people made which I really like. Do support them. The game music though is a bit weird. Gotta love 8 bit koto! Thanks for watching
My first game of Goemon was Goemon Grate Adventure on N64, what a crazy and fun game to play! Still have it, still play it and still brings a smile. So awesome you make videos of a lot of games, really enjoying your channel!
Hey thanks! I’m happy to see you go back and see all the old videos. Makes the work I put into them worth it! Also it appears now that all the games from 16 bit are in English now
Incredible documentary. It was one of my favorite pirate games to play on PC. I remember playing it for hours, knocking out rabbits and fighting a giant robot. It was incredible. Even though I didn't understand anything because it was in Japanese.
As an update for 2021, there now are translation patches for the 3 other Super Famicom Goemon games, so they too are more accessible than ever before :) And thanks to GTV for a nice and informative video, I love the idea the intermissions you use! (Who knew a "commercial break" could be so much fun!)
Awesome thanks for the update!! The thing is certain kids shows in Japan have as breaks that only sell something related to the topic so I got the idea from that
A man that has made quite a name for himself over the last 400 or so years. With his body of work including but limited to, books, movies, anime, video games, T-shirts, and all kinds of tchotchkes He would probably die from shock if he ever knew about all of it! While the man was alive, very little was actually known, and only may year after his death did his name and legacy pick up steam. But let's try to give a clear, accurate description of Goemon, separating fact from fiction, as much as we can In 1989 a sequel was released for the Family Computer, which set Ganbare Goemon into motion The Legend of the Mystical Ninja was released in February 1992 in the US and was reviewed They even slipped in a Tanooki statue on a few pages.Probably inadvertently, as these Tanooki statues are well known across Japan for their big, Ganbare Goemon; Sara-wareta Ebisumaru, Kidnapped Ebisumaru, is a scaled down version, similar As we conclude this chapter of the story, there were 11 games released between 1986 In the next act, Goemon returns as the Mystical Ninja in 3-D and Our Hero brings down a notable American game company. But the game would be reborn in 1997 when Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, as it was In Kurofune Tou no Nazo, Mystery of the Black Ship Gang, Yae is kidnapped and its up to In Neo MomoYama Bafuki no Odori, Dance of New Peach Mountain Shogun, as it would be series led to anime and manga series, plus Goemon appeard in other media over the last Ganbare Goemon: Save the World in 1998 adventure of Goemon, Ebisumaru and friends as they fight against the evil Makamuge in just commonly used in Japanes opening in 1976 with over 200 locations forever me.
The first N64 game brings back a whole lot of happy memories! Great to get some insight into the series- was so excited when his costume appeared in Smash. Thanks for the great video!
Great video on an underrated series! All of the Goemon games on the Super Famicom have finally been translated and they've been a blast to play. I miss this series
THIS is the video I've been waiting for! Amazing content as usual. The Goemon series is my favourite of all time, #2 on the Super Famicom would be top of my list I'd say.
It was worth waiting for! Your content really stands apart from everything else on UA-cam and as passionate collector of all things Japanese gaming for 25+ years I really appreciate it. The commercial breaks are fantastic as usual, a lot of those Goemon ads I'd never seen before. Great to have them archived in one place. The series numbering always puzzled me too, but I can only imagine they just started again on the SFC. I don't have much experience with the Famicom games, so I'll have to seek those out. I'd love to get hold of a Mr Goemon arcade PCB someday too.
Mystical Ninja is quite possibly my favorite video game aside from Pokemon EVER. I rented the Super Nintendo Cartridge week after week to listen to the music and find the WILDEST monsters. Then the N64 version came out and I was skeptical because of the animation change but I remember being enamored with it; there was a giant robot if I remember correctly and you play as a puppet Goemon for part of the game too. I don't remember that one as well but I remember being satisfied that the torch had been passed.
Another excellent video! Mystical Ninja was a game I rented a lot back in the days. I managed to get the Goemon games on Super Famicom but as you say, they are not easy if you don't understand Japanese and my knowledge of Japanese is not high enough for text-heavy games. That Goemon PS2 RPG looked pretty nice I must say, too bad Sony back in the days of PSX and PS2 were lame and prevented a lot of games from coming to North America (or simply outside Japan) Looking forward to your next video!
Hey thanks friend! It really does hurt considering they let all the final Fantasy ports go with no problems but games already out in japan were a no no. But eh, they still did things way better than Nintendo. The next two videos are already done but I’m sure they’ll be worth waiting for! See you there
When playing the Goemon SNES game on the Wii's Virtual Console, I always decided to think ecchi when Ebisumaru/Dr Yang was talking about seeing the Ghost Girl. I suspected that he was peeping on the Ghost Girl while she was in the hot springs in that opening cut scene.
@@GTV-Japan All I can say is that sometimes technology sucks when it does not work perfectly. Maybe the algorithm takes a long time with so many comments. Keep up the good work with the videos and I will see the next time I have a night just to sit down and watch videos to take some time before commenting.
Hey thanks dude!! I’m glad you say that because for me it’s not about the money or fame it’s about serving the topic and doing it right while pleasing the audience. If that’s done correctly then it’s all worth it!
Mystical Ninja on the SNES is the only main Goemon game I've played, it was awesome playing co-op with my bro. BTW, you get so many points for suffering those overly long Japanese titles and pronouncing them correctly.
Ah it’s nothing! Actually I’m writing something now that goes over like 20 tv show titles and how crazy long they are so whenever it’s done (june-July) you’ll get a kick out of it
Oh nice! Will definitely keep tuning in. I really love the format and tone. You have a great command of this knowledge. I remember closely following the Working Designs / Goemon saga myself.
The full series anime is pretty decent. They manage to do the "we need to bring the characters to our world so we can have an audience surrogate little boy character" better than Sonic X did. Plus I love the idea of the villain being so obsessed with making his ritualistic suicide beautiful.
@@GTV-Japan I got the first DVD cheap years ago and watched it a couple times. I was about to get one or two more at a convention cheap, but picked something else up instead. I swore some company license rescued it recently and put it on a full series DVD, but I looked it up and couldn't find it. Seems like something Discotech would have done, but they didn't. I think they just had a copy for sale at their booth at a convention I went to last year.
mightyfilm cool! I’m not into collection but good to know. The full series except episode 1 is on a playlist here so at least everyone can check it out
That third PS1 Goemon game isn't bad at all, if you know the theme of the game, you'll know why there are things in this game recycled from earlier games. The last boss is basically into recycling, besides lemon tea.
Love the ads for the games. I had no idea there was a DS game or th PS2 one. Sad that Konami went full mobile and pachinko, so many series that people miss.
The arcade version reminds me of Son Son, aesthetically. I wanna check out 'Gaiden'. I have Goemon 2 for Super Famicom, but since I can't read Japanese I don't know where to go. I'd like to get more into this series.
Yea I can’t seem to find a translation of that one. You’d think it would be fan made. I wonder why they didn’t bring it over, oh well. Thanks for being here day one man!
One series I really want to get into. This series reminds me a bit of the Yakuza games. What I mean is that both franchises are very Japanese in their tone. But that heavy "Japanology" is full of charm and character and I love that. The Goemon series is even more Japanese and that's probably the reason why the west didn't get a lot of these games. Another very well done video :D
Thanks friend! Yea you can see how much things changed when it was put to English. But that’s often people who blindly guess what kids might like and are often wrong!
I won't lie, when I first heard about a darker take on Goemon. I was half expected it be like Bomberman: Act Zero, but from the small bit of footage I've seen of it. It doesn't look half bad and this is coming from someone who never played Goemon.
Ahh this feels so close to home. I never had a N64 but I had 7 cds that had all the ROMs for the console (welp minus de N64DD ones) so basically I went through almost the whole catalogue of titles. The Ganbare Goemon ones were my favourite, I remember playing Goemon's Great Adventure a lot but never getting too far, I wasn't fluent in english at the time and didn't think outside the box so I could never get those darn entry passes. After that the one that it's basically Ocarina of Time with Goemon is also really cool, the intro cutscene of Ebisumaru naked and the Spaceship converting the Edo castle into an european one were ahead of their time. I even tried playing Mononoke Sugoroku but if I wasn't fluent in English, I definetly wasn't fluent in Japanese but damn if I tried haha (There's a Yu Gi Oh! game on the GBA that is basically the same game, talking about recycling). The Goemon series was something that if you got exposed to as a kid, would have turn you into somewhat of a weeb when you grow up. The music was one of the highest points of its repertoir, completely unforgetable.
Another awesome video! I remember renting Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the SNES as well as the first localized N64 game, and finding them both very fun!
Yeah the concept is kind of that your playing/watching a Kabuki show. I talked about super Mario 3 in another video and did not mention the whole “it’s a play” thing and got asked about it but to me it’s not a big deal because I know nearly everything is supposed to be like a play. Thanks for watching
I played the N64 Goemon game with a GameShark to break the intended sequence that you’re supposed to follow in order to advance the plot, so my memories of the game’s story likely won’t be accurate to how it’s supposed to be experienced, but I like the Giant Gourmet Underwater Castle dungeon to this day since it’s quite the novel approach to make the enemies of said dungeon traditional Japanese foodstuffs given a new lease on life and a desire to eat Goemon and his friends for a change.
The only Goemon games I've played were the one released on the US SNES and one of the N64 games. Out of those two, the SNES games wins. Goemon also appears in the Sega CD port of Hideo Kojima's Snatcher. The character appears in a crowd at a night club, with a bunch of other Konami characters.
Good point! I prefer that too because sometimes early 3D games are a pain to control but 16 bit was usually perfect. I did mention the snatcher scene in the twinbee video which kind of overlaps this one. It’s a very cool scene. Thanks for watching!
Subbed! Thanks for giving this series the love and respect it deserves. Goemon is my all-time favorite, I hope Konami makes more games someday. By the way, all your video documentaries are superb! You should have your own TV show~
Thanks! I actually did have aTV show in 2003 and once talked about video games but it was not the main focus. Thanks for watching and talk to you again
I played nearly all the games on every platform years ago and I loved almost all of them. Now they have English translations for most of them so I really need to replay them so I can understand the story.

OMG!!!!!!!!! thanks for this great video, friend,i AM a hardcore fan ,of mistical ninja o gambare goemon!!!!! greetings from México city, saludos amigo!!!!
Thanks friend. I’m glad I could deliver!
That’s very cool! Thanks for watching right at the debut
@arbereshe greetings from México city ,amigo!!!!!!
So glad this exists! Thank you!
Thanks for the comment! It makes the work done to do this video worth it
While the DS Goemon game being the last great title in the series is a bit sad, the good news is that the qame did inspire Nintendo's Takahiro Harada to develop a new Wario Land game for the Wii & hiring some of the former Konami devs that worked on said Goemon game.
This led to Good-Feel developing the aforementioned & fantastic Wario Land: Shake It!/The Shake Dimension & paving the way for the devs to create great titles like Kirby's Epic Yarn, Yoshi's Woolly World & recently released Yoshi's Crafted World.
Josh I thanks for sharing that. I had no idea!
I'm still wating for a HD remake of Mystical Ninja 64
Great video sir!
This is a great surprise to see this morning :D
Thanks! I hope you liked it! First comment too by the way!
Man, I just loved the mystical ninja game when I was younger. The music of the game is underrated, both including the amazing intro, the impact theme, and the OST. Thanks for Making this video
You’re welcome!
Woohoo!!! I've been waiting for this one.
Thanks Bard! I might be behind schedule but I kept my word!
All the songs from Mystical Ninja have been permanently etched in my brain at this point! Great music!
Love the channel!
+See Dubs thanks! It is very catchy. See you next time
Such a shame that he never really caught on in the West.
Yeah I wonder how they decided to divide up the budget that way
It was too Japanese in a time where anime wasn't that big outside Japan.
It would've been the perfect opportunity for Konami to release the DS Goemon game worldwide.
I hope one day it gets a fan-translation, those been dropping quite a lot lately.
Great video and justice for Mystical Ninja!!
Thanks I’m glad you liked it! As for the DS game I think that ship has sailed…
Great video and thanks for the Closed Caption!
I know it helps some people. You’re welcome
3:41 Wow, I just realized that Goemon's giant robot, Impact, is based on the Goemon costume on this ad!
Yup
All of the 16 bit Goemon games have now been translated! :D
Awesome!
the N64 one is one of my favorite games of all time, a surrealist wonder
It’s got the tone to it yea!
It’s criminally underrated and low key hilarious. It could have been an anime.
That Legend of Mystical Ninja game on SNES sure is to blame why I became such a huge Japanophile. It was JUST the right kind of crazy that I loved even then.
All right! I can understand that because I’m the same!
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon on
Nintendo 64 is easily my favourite.
A good mix of Mario 64 &
Zelda Ocarina of Time gameplay styles.
Also the anime singing cutscenes are good.
That’s a good pick!
Glad to hear! Strange this video is taking off now when it sat dormant for 5 years. Oh well! Thanks for watching ⭐️
@@GTV-Japan Seems some of your content is hitting the algorithm. Well, you got me subbed between this and Kirby, now to browse your collection. 👍
Thanks! Usually it happens with the exact same word. What Kirby and Goemon have to do with each other I have no idea! Oh the mysteries of the world!
If Goemon were to be reanimated as a Zombie, I am sure he would have loved to play the Goemon games as well as play some Pokemon or Digimon games.
My favorite part about the Goemon games is the music that mixes jazz funk with traditional Japanese music. Legend of the Mystical Ninja on N64 has one of my favorite soundtracks.
Good point!!
My favorite is Mystical Ninja starring Goemon. It's one of my favorite games of my childhood! I want it to come to Nintendo Switch online and I would love the series to come back! I love that game so much that I want a remake of it!
Konami made Suikoden , Metal Gear, Akumajo Dracula and Silent Hill but Goemon is by far my favourite series they developed.
Yea that’s the same for me. But I like twinbee a lot too
I wish the "Knightmare" and "Esper Dream" series caught on more
Esper Dream 3 on Super Famicom wouldve been absolute perfection
Yea! But wishing with Konami....
My first n64 game i ever played was mystical ninja starring goemon. Awesome soundtrack!
Nice 👍🏻
And remember: “winners don’t accept Raid: Shadow Legends sponsorships!!”
Also, how do I make your Top Commenters scoreboard?
I can’t believe it
@@GTV-Japan $120 eh? Not surprising I suppose haha.
I’m surprised!
This has been one of the best video features I've ever seen on the legacy of Goemon! If only Konami would revive in the series in some kind of way or localize some of the games that we never got to have
Yes if only. So sad they won’t. Thanks for watching!
Woah! I thought Goemon was an original character like Pentarou or Twin Bee. It’s a series that keep getting recommended to me, especially on SFC
Nope! But Konami has kind of made him his own
Wow dude, another amazing little doc on a game series I always wanted to get into. I only have the first SFC game but one of these days I'll play through it. I had no idea there were 8-bit iterations before that!
Hey Kevin, glad you enjoyed it. The 8 bit games and arcade game are pretty easy to get through. Not much reading needed. I put links to the fan translation of the 2 FC rpg Gaiden games if you want to try them
Thanks so much. Also I wanna say that the commercials you include in your productions are amazing!! They really add to your channels personality!
My favorite SNES franchise
You’re welcome! Glad you stopped by
This game took me forever to beat because I was just grinding and farming EXP and $$$ because I play like I live in real life... with nothing but the best thing. To me fighting with the best weapons and stuff made it easier.
That background music sounds insane
Azzamatic after about the 20 minute mark I used remixes some creative people made which I really like. Do support them. The game music though is a bit weird. Gotta love 8 bit koto! Thanks for watching
Definitely enjoyed Mystical Ninja Goemon on the N64.
It’s pretty good thanks for watching!
I never thought about that. Most would have played it illegally/unofficially! Thanks for watching! Yooooo
such a great channel! i really appreciate the monster effort and details.
Thanks JR! Be sure to check out other videos if you haven’t yet, you’ll find the same energy in all the rest. Thanks for watching!
Awesome keep up these great vids! :)
Thanks I will! This is part 2 of the Konami Trilogy. All that’s left is parodius!
@@GTV-Japan right on!
Japanese commercials are a blessed thing
You know I love them 😍
The first N64 game brings back a whole lot of happy memories! Great to get some insight into the series- was so excited when his costume appeared in Smash. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks I’m glad you liked it
Great video on an underrated series! All of the Goemon games on the Super Famicom have finally been translated and they've been a blast to play. I miss this series
Yeah I heard that! About time! I wish he’d make a comeback but eh don’t hold your breath with Konami. Thanks for watching 🥷
I like how I learned a little bit about video game history and Japanese history.
That’s the GTV mission! Most of the time 😅thanks for watching!
THIS is the video I've been waiting for! Amazing content as usual. The Goemon series is my favourite of all time, #2 on the Super Famicom would be top of my list I'd say.
Hey thanks. Sorry it took so long but I didn’t forget. Hey why are there 2 ganbare goemon 2s? No one ever explained that. Thanks for watching
I'd love to get hold of a Mr Goemon arcade PCB someday too.
kodoyama thanks for saying that! It’ll keep me motivated to make more
*I love the SNES and N64 games!* ❤
Mystical Ninja is quite possibly my favorite video game aside from Pokemon EVER. I rented the Super Nintendo Cartridge week after week to listen to the music and find the WILDEST monsters. Then the N64 version came out and I was skeptical because of the animation change but I remember being enamored with it; there was a giant robot if I remember correctly and you play as a puppet Goemon for part of the game too. I don't remember that one as well but I remember being satisfied that the torch had been passed.
Watching this video; this game has influenced me in sublime ways throughout my life. It's a GREAT game for curious children.
I love Goemon Videos like this
Thank you very much
You’re welcome!
Another excellent video!
Mystical Ninja was a game I rented a lot back in the days. I managed to get the Goemon games on Super Famicom but as you say, they are not easy if you don't understand Japanese and my knowledge of Japanese is not high enough for text-heavy games.
That Goemon PS2 RPG looked pretty nice I must say, too bad Sony back in the days of PSX and PS2 were lame and prevented a lot of games from coming to North America (or simply outside Japan)
Looking forward to your next video!
Hey thanks friend! It really does hurt considering they let all the final
Fantasy ports go with no problems but games already out in japan were a no no. But eh, they still did things way better than Nintendo. The next two videos are already done but I’m sure they’ll be worth waiting for! See you there
This is one of my most favorite and under rated Konami game series ever , I even got the anime
Awesome 👏🏻 yoooooooooooooo!
I love everything about this video.
Thanks for watching 🎊 yoooooooooo
When playing the Goemon SNES game on the Wii's Virtual Console, I always decided to think ecchi when Ebisumaru/Dr Yang was talking about seeing the Ghost Girl.
I suspected that he was peeping on the Ghost Girl while she was in the hot springs in that opening cut scene.
Sorry i couldnt get comment replies loading for a while, but know that i read all of them
@@GTV-Japan All ok, I had made allot of comments on many videos so just reply when you are able to read them.
That’s ok of course. It’s just that UA-cam studio is often buggy and some comments from 2 days ago showed up and I hadn’t seen them before. Weird!
@@GTV-Japan All I can say is that sometimes technology sucks when it does not work perfectly. Maybe the algorithm takes a long time with so many comments.
Keep up the good work with the videos and I will see the next time I have a night just to sit down and watch videos to take some time before commenting.
Thanks! I get a lot these days but I’m still keeping up with it
I love Goemon. One of my fave series. He needs more games TBH.
Agree! Shame it’s gone dark
@@GTV-Japan I got the DS game when I was about ten. LOVE every bit of it TBH.
That’s cool but I can’t imagine having a ds at age 10!
I can tell so much time and love were put into this video as well as your other ones. You really do deserve more subs. Thanks for the great content!
Hey thanks dude!! I’m glad you say that because for me it’s not about the money or fame it’s about serving the topic and doing it right while pleasing the audience. If that’s done correctly then it’s all worth it!
@@GTV-Japan You are nailing it! Nice work! 🙌
We need a Mystical Ninja 64 Remake so Goemon can resurrect from the ashes!
I just want anything at all!
Mystical Ninja on the SNES is the only main Goemon game I've played, it was awesome playing co-op with my bro. BTW, you get so many points for suffering those overly long Japanese titles and pronouncing them correctly.
Ah it’s nothing! Actually I’m writing something now that goes over like 20 tv show titles and how crazy long they are so whenever it’s done (june-July) you’ll get a kick out of it
@@GTV-Japan Looking forward to it. Ganbatte!
Such a shame Konami blew it. Just give us a true sequel to the first n64 game.
The sad reality is that probably not a single person from the time that was released is still working there.
I really want to get my hands on what they have made, hopefully their spiritual sequel comes to Europe one day soon@@GTV-Japan
This is an awesome channel.
Thank you! 25 episodes will be ready for 2021!
Oh nice! Will definitely keep tuning in. I really love the format and tone. You have a great command of this knowledge. I remember closely following the Working Designs / Goemon saga myself.
Oh. That was sad. 😭
I would love to see another Goemon game. When Smash showed a Mii costume of Goemon, it felt bittersweet to see it.
One can dream!
The full series anime is pretty decent. They manage to do the "we need to bring the characters to our world so we can have an audience surrogate little boy character" better than Sonic X did. Plus I love the idea of the villain being so obsessed with making his ritualistic suicide beautiful.
Yea I watched a few. They were good. I had no memory of it on tv in 98 though. Thanks for watching on day one!
The full series except episode 1 is on a playlist here so at least everyone can check it out
He was a real person!
That third PS1 Goemon game isn't bad at all, if you know the theme of the game, you'll know why there are things in this game recycled from earlier games. The last boss is basically into recycling, besides lemon tea.
Oh really ha!! Well maybe I should give a go again. Thanks for watching
Love the ads for the games. I had no idea there was a DS game or th PS2 one. Sad that Konami went full mobile and pachinko, so many series that people miss.
Yea. Oh well. At least they have this legacy
I miss Goemon. I really, really Goemon...
F
I won't lie, when I first heard about a darker take on Goemon.
I was half expected it be like Bomberman: Act Zero, but
from the small bit of footage I've seen of it. It doesn't
look half bad and this is coming from someone who
never played Goemon.
Holy crap, I didn't know there were 8 bit versions of this game!
yeah a lot! some have been translated so go find the roms and have fun!!! Thanks for watching! Yooooooooooo
Mystical ninja ninja 64 and goemon’s great adventure are some of my 2 favorite games on N64. Real shame the SNES sequel never made it out of Japan!
Yeah I’ll say!
Wow! Thanks for sharing your experience!🍺
Another awesome video! I remember renting Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the SNES as well as the first localized N64 game, and finding them both very fun!
Yea mystical ninja was great!!
Oh, so his face is weird like that because he uses kabuki makeup! This makes so much more sense to me now, lol.
Yeah the concept is kind of that your playing/watching a Kabuki show. I talked about super Mario 3 in another video and did not mention the whole “it’s a play” thing and got asked about it but to me it’s not a big deal because I know nearly everything is supposed to be like a play. Thanks for watching
We may never get rereleased versions of the other Goemon games, at least he is honored as a Mii costume in SSBU.
Wow didn’t know that. Thanks for the update
I'm hooked on that Goemon song " Come on Goemon everybody Goemon, goe goe goe!" I hope there's a full version of that song out there.
Me too!
Dunno why it took so long to com across this.
This is such a good video doc!
Thanks for watching I’m glad you liked it
I played the N64 Goemon game with a GameShark to break the intended sequence that you’re supposed to follow in order to advance the plot, so my memories of the game’s story likely won’t be accurate to how it’s supposed to be experienced, but I like the Giant Gourmet Underwater Castle dungeon to this day since it’s quite the novel approach to make the enemies of said dungeon traditional Japanese foodstuffs given a new lease on life and a desire to eat Goemon and his friends for a change.
Haha well that’s ok. Thanks for sharing your story
Konami didn't have the decency to ruin their own company, they also had to destroy Hudson and bomberman too
Please don’t remind me. 😢
23:44 Ghost face in the back window
Fantastic video I really enjoy watching it and Goemon been my favorite game since I was a kid.
Thanks for watching! I hope someday you can continue to enjoy the series
The Nintendo 64 games were great, one of them even had an intro with japanese voice (Like Dragon Ball)!
Yeah, really has that kabuki feel
loved this video :) thank you :)
I still have goemons great adventure. I didnt know there were so many games. I felt like there were more
I feel the same way. Thanks for watching
@@GTV-Japan Really? That's so cool! Glad to find you on UA-cam :)

Yea that’s true. I doubt it will happen. At least quickly. But maybe someday!
do they have great adventure on the switch
I think there’s a few
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Goemon is Konami's mascot.
Yea I guess that’s true. Thanks for watching
I'll definitely be playing those Goemon RPGs on NES. Too bad we never got most of these games, I hope Konami revives the series.

Second game is alright, but the first one was kind of a disappointment
Great video. Great closing remarks
Thanks! It’s an old video but has come back to life somehow. Unfortunately still no new games or ports. Have a good day!
I played nearly all the games on every platform years ago and I loved almost all of them. Now they have English translations for most of them so I really need to replay them so I can understand the story.
