- Unbeknownst to his millions of fans, BD Ambassador Chris Burkard-the prolific adventure photographer and filmmaker-has a crack addiction. To make matters worse (at least for his knees and elbows), Burkard’s obsession is not your standard affair. Oh no. He’s into the darkest, gnarliest, most destructive type of crack there is … the infamous offwidth. In this film, Burkard, armed with a rope, rack and the shirt on his back, explains why climbing offwidths is the closest you’ll ever get to “making love” with the stone while facing off with Yosemite’s famed Hardman Offwidth Circuit.

That’s what I love about climbing. I do every session for me. I’m not tied to a practice schedule and love every minute of it. Plus, climbing outside is just amazing.

Best moment is 5:51 "when all of our actions are shared and commented and liked, it's cool to have some aspect that's secretive." ANDDDDDD then BD puts it on UA-cam to be shared, commented and liked (for secrecy sake).
His helmet getting stuck in the tree when he hucked it off made me laugh. Like, now not only are you suffering your face off in this crack but once you get down you have to chuck your tape roll at your helmet to get it back. Just more suffering.

When Pratt did it, it wasn't "super secure". WIth wide cams, what used to involve throwing up and whatever else, also was extremely difficult to protect.

maybe a stupid question .. but when climbing by yourself, how does belaying work, and how do you collect your gear ?

There’s either free soloing where you don’t belay or rope soloing where you lead up then abseil down collect your gear then ascend up the rope back to your top gear

Little bit secretive but has a vid about him climbing, lol. But man is a beast. Got to say for me climbing is all about f**king of the rest of the world, don't have one pic of me climbing outside, as even mobile phones are there just in case of an emergency. Might have to get a pic in there sometime just to show the kids in the Future.
