- Good day, avgeeks! Today, as always, we will conduct a graphics comparison, throughout the landing in Paris Charles de Gaulle airport.
We will look at vegetation, colors, and weather effects in both MSFS and X-Plane 12. Let's determine the best looking flight simulator!

You go through a lot of trouble making these. MSFS is just great, Im trying to like XPlane 12, the airplanes feel excellent but the problem is MSFS has spoilt us with its visuals. But XP12 is getting better all the time, specially its rain and puddle effects! Thanks for a great vid!

i enabled the beta on steam and xp12's weather system is 100x more better than the old one thanks to laminars new servers. (no more minecraft clouds)

- Both simulators require some color adjustments.
- The haze you mentioned is caused by weather conditions and the flight simulator engine. MSFS2020 has various issues related to the weather engine.
- The forests, roads, and houses in Xplane do not look very realistic; they appear cartoonish.
- When you mentioned that MSFS seems too green, it might not be the same time of day. Also, I don't see the fuselage shadow on the engine in MSFS as I do in comparison to the other simulator.
- Yes, MSFS has a problem with tree sizes and airport surroundings.
- If I had to choose, I would have issues related to what you mentioned, as well as aircraft dynamics and platform stability.

I respect the effort and the amount of work you put in this comparison. But tbh, you can't really compare three different sources with completely different conditions.
But you can gauge the main differences:
- RL is not so colorful, shiny bright and friendly as it should be 🤗
- MSFS (out of the box) is a candy shop with exaggerated colors and saturation 🥳
- and XPlane... yeah... like the last 30 years it's the sim for those who rather like data, numbers and scripts than looking outside the cockpit window. 🤓
There is one for everyone, but RL is - by far - the most expensive way of flying (actively or as a passenger)... 😂
i personally think Real Life took that W!!! It has ∞Rendering Distance where you can even get ∞FPS which is crazy for a low low price of 200$ per flight!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Real life has a cap between 60 and 75FPS(that's the average speed a human brain can process data)

Always been an msfs guy ever since version 3 but i must congratulate XPlane here on the most realistic scenery view with haze: visibility and color wise. Also: real life has the dirtiest airplane window of the three.
X plane looks more close to real life in the atmosphere and plane physics, is closer to the real life vídeo movements, if you put Ortho and simheaven to x plane 12 it will look better

Wow without Ortho? Not bad. Both great. Here it is clear that msfs has too bright colors, i like the atmosphere in xplane. But in the end, two very enjoyable sims with their own strenghts and weaknesses
This real life engine has some pretty impressive graphics, shame it's clouds look so fake.
One is oversaturated another undersaturated and the winner will be first one who reach normal fps some day..

XP-12 looks absolutely disgusting 🤮 not even gonna try to purchase it. Msfs is way better with visuals.. and with msfs 24 coming around the corner with better physical and visuals.. on game pass for free, there’s no comparison

How did you record the landings in the sims? I mean did you use the autoland feature of the aircraft or handfly and record using some external mod/addon?
I used autopilot, then hand flown during the final. I used sky dolly (in msfs) and OBS studio to record
msfs and xp12 look more realistic than real life

@@flightandfind yeah the learing curve is a bit steep but once you have everything setup it looks much better :)
There is some pretty bad tree aliasing in the X-plane section of the video. Hopefully it can be overcome with an appropriate setting.
My settings are high/ultra, but X-Plane can in some cases lower them automatically
After 30 years Xplane is and will always be ridiculous

@augustomartins9516 as you can see it‘s not the case. I have witnessed a guy stating an allegedly picture of XP looked „crap“. But it was MSFS. Tells everything. After 40+ years MSFS-users will always make childish comments.

If you like instrument flying and want it as realistic as possible, then x-plane is absolutely superior. If you are into sightseeing, then FS2020 is better.
MSFS needs to do something about colors, that's WAY off.
If you turn up the humidity in MSFS it would be a lot closer to rl.

Thanks for the comparision. You are right the colors of MSFS are to much saturated. But one remark, also you camera in real life is a interpretation of the world and might not be correct. in higher altitues it looks very dull. Most propaly of the UV radiation wich influents the sensors. If you compare your footange with the final approch - were the altitude is very low, the camera footage is more satuated too. But this is a real life effect I see myself each time while taking picture in high altitude. due to the UV radiation also everything gets a blueish tint and if you want to correct that in photoshop it`s quite difficult because than green is a version of blue.
I think I would be intresting to introduce this effect into the flighsims. But I will reduce my saturation in MSFS now,

Just speaking of graphics. XPlane looks more realistic in terms of lighting and depth cueing. MSFS looks too cartoony. Even the clouds are looking more realistic in last version of XP. MSFS look too Simpsons. As per the ground out of the box MSFS will be better than XP. XP does not have default satellite imagery as MSFS does. Really hard to mimic earth ground textures and the complexity. However with a good ortho XPlane looks now more the real deal.
Let’s not forget real life was recorded with a camera or phone through thick glass so is this even accurate?

I've installed the following simulators in my PC: MSFS 2020 and X-Plane 12. Now I feel it is much cooler of the one called "Real Life", where can I download it and install to my PC please?😄😄😄🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
One thing About msfs satellite textures is that the bing maps is years old and msfs 2024 will have newer maps which will look way less green and also they are changing some of that in msfs 2024

That’s why some of us use the map enhancement mod. Gives us both the latest bing and the Google map

And the shadows on X-Plane still look like stairs, very bad.
Why does Paris look so grey and dull in FS2020? Everyting is just same grey colour: buildings, roofs etc...=/ (might not be visible in your clip, but its sure there...)

i disagree.,.. XP has CLEARLY the Better Sky, haze, contrast and colors and SO Is tò be preffered ro Msfs for VFR flights

It's very hard to recreate the past weather in both sims

lower the X plane texture quality is bad cuz of youre setings plz make a part 2 with x plane on max graphics to keep it fair
My X-Plane graphics are all on high/maximum, so I am indeed keeping the comparison fair

in xplane the trees are boiling.
Where are the advantages for IFR with Xplane in your opinion?
I like clouds in XP, physics are superior, plus from the FL360, terrain looks not that bad
@@flightandfind really what part of the physics are better in xplane 12 ? Seriously the only reason people think xplane physics are better is because it generally you can achieve higher FPS, but that is because of the horrible graphics.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is a great game for nearly all ages, Laminar X-Plane is the best Flight Simulator for student pilots to airliner Captains who can train and enjoy a professional flight simulator as well as customers who chose X-Plane and can enjoy it too.

para mi x plane murió hace mucho tiempo. no ocupare espacio en el disco en esto .tuvieron mucho tiempo de mejorar y nunca lo hicieron
MSFS had even more time to improve their physics. But they never did. Except the graphics it has been a step back. I have deinstalled MSFS because I have found it ridiculously bad. Happy to have space for 2 XP-versions now.
X-12 looks god-awful.

xplane 12 looks a lil blurry on the engine even though theres ray tracing (if you actually installed)
btw xplane 12 + msfs 2020 = irl
