My 2 cents: I’m a huge fan of tape delays and their emulations, in general. So I was looking forward to giving the BOSS RE-202 a try. My curiosity was triggered mainly because it is from the same company (well, almost) that invented the legendary RE-Space-Echos and they announce it as a worthy successor of that line.
Well, I have to respectfully disagree here. It is a nice pedal with hands-on-control but its sound is in my opinion not on par with other alternatives like the UAFX Galaxy. It sounds quite harsh when going into self oscillation and it lacks depth when using several tape heads at the same time. Its stereo mode makes it suitable for use with synths but that’s something, alternatives also feature.
TLDR: Ok sounding pedal with a nice interface but IMO not on par with other pedals in that same price range when it comes to that classic Roland RE-sound.

great to hear your views after trying out all the options! You feature very tasteful sounds in your demos. I would like to know if any of these tape delay pedals sound as good or better than a plugin like Audio Thing's Outer Space? And do you have suggestions on what would be a good reverb pedal for someone who really loves Valhalla Vintage Verb?
