This was my obssesion when I was a kid and it just came out. It was probably the first game that had such an advanced chatacter control - peaking through corners, proning, aiming down iron sights, stance and movement influencing accuracy, melee attack - it was never known before! It was a complete revolution! Level and scripted event design was plentiful and diverse. It was probably the first Western game with Soviet campaign as well, which had a big impact on gaining popularity in Russia. The feeling the intro video and detailed briefings with actuall maps and photos was unique... Even despite the idiocy of the Soviet campaign and SAS mission (except it's truck chase part), it was fantastically immersive. It felt like beign actually a soldier in WWII, brave, but vulnurable, angry and scared, recless and cautious, triumfant and sad about deaths of comrades. I remember the thrill of waiting of Call of Duty 2, then a computer that could run it and then the dissapointment it had bring... Modern Warfare and Black Ops series still had some kick and in it and WAW tried to add some horror aspects, but it was already dying, enything else was shit. After that Call of Duty became called in Russian "Dutyi Cal", which means "Bloated Shit".
Still the best one. Followed very closely by CoD4: MW. This is the best WW2 shooter ever made, and it's one of the best shooters ever made as well. Has to be top 10 for me, of the best FPS games of all time, I think.
I remember playing this on my old Compaq Windows ME (or 2000?) computer on CDs lol... I think I got the Battle Chest around here somewhere... Thanks for uploading this!

I like this game but it hurts to watch this video and see all of the comments that hate on new cods. Only a few of them I would actually consider bad. Mostly black ops 3 and 4. The rest have pretty good campaigns despite having a different focus than these originals.
Its so sad to see that the Call of Duty we knew is being forgotten due to its own Multiplayer parts. I mean yesterday I was talking to some dumb f*ck and when I mentioned Call of Duty all he could think of was the Call of Duty mobile sh*t. I had to explain it to him that a great franchise existed years ago.

Cod 4 killed Moh, before that, there were still competition between the two. We got games like Pacific assault and Airborne before Cod 4 came. After Cod 4, Moh dumped WWII, and went modern. The 2010 Afghanistan reboot was good enough, but the failure of Warfighter killed the series altogether. Meanwhile Cod games have been getting worse since BO2, released the SAME YEAR as Warfighter, so I guess as soon as Moh died, Cod relaxed, and we got things like Ghosts and IW
Whyyyyyy this was the only game I didn't get to play for COD (Except for bo4 which I don't want becuz it dosn't have a campaign.) But at Least i played Cod2 and 3....
