The fact that the tree house is level isn’t luck. It’s due to your meticulous attention to detail and unwillingness to phone it in. Much like all your other projects I’ve watched you do. You have a good head on your shoulders, a good work ethic, and it shows in all your projects. Love your channel.
60 years ago, at 11 years old I built my own tree house by slapping used boards together; it served its purpose until I outgrew it. Your kids will enjoy this for a long time.
I did the same thing 70 years ago, but mine was a two story in a Chinaberry tree I believe. We'd camp out in it and make weapons with nails sticking out just in case something would try to get us in the night.
You went from being a dozer specialist to a bucket lift specialist to now being a treehouse specialist. Hope your kids will appreciate all the hard work you put into that
For someone who isn't a professional you do seem to be able to turn your hand to a lot of projects with great results. Thank you for great videos. I don't find myself skipping much of your content. 👍
Where I grew up (Liverpool, UK), we didn't have so much as a tree, never mind a treehouse. I'm in awe of your craftsmanship Matt, proper Dadding. You're kids are lucky to have such an excellent father and to grow up in such a beautiful part of the world. Well done fella. You should be proud of yourself. I bloody am!
I've built a few of those too, and yes, they are challenging for sure. Especially working alone and trying to wrestle those heavy beams up a step ladder. I like your dry sense of humor, saying the second side went up no problem..."That was easy." I'm not sure what you said, but it wasn't that! lol. Here's a tip. Get yourself a few quick grip clamps if you don't already have them. They are so helpful when working alone. You can clamp a temporary support up to hold the far end of a board, or clamp one board to another rather than screwing it together when you are just trying to get it in position. Like at 19:58 if that vertical board was long enough, you could just clamp it so it would be there to hold the beam for you while you work, and can be easily adjusted if need be. How did things go at 19:30? Did that beam knock your ladder down? Looks like that could have been bad. Nice work Matt.
It missed the ladder, but I was only a couple feet off the ground. Was pretty much expecting something like that to happen so I tried to stay out of harms way. Good point on the clamps, I do have some around but didn't think to grab them.
NOT A CARPENTER,I'VE SEEN A LOT WORSE FROM PEOPLE THAT CLAIM TO BE REAL CARPENTERS! GREAT JOB MATT YOU ARE VERY INGENIOUS FIGURING OUT SOLUTIONS TO OBSTACLES WORKING BY YOURSELF! HOPE THE KIDS APPRECIATE YOUR HARD WORK! MAYBE IT'S TIME TO INCORPORATE SOME HELP FROM THE YOUNGIN'S BEING IT WILL BE THEIR TREE HOUSE,IT WOULD GIVE THEM SOME SATISFACTION OF HELPING THEIR DAD AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE BUILD!
Kuddos to you. You must be a good parent. All this work, to make a treehouse that they will enjoy, will hopefully create a host of memories to last a lifetime for them, and you. Enjoyed watching you work and probably one of the things I would have prefered seeing, is you enlisting the help of at least one other person (for safety reasons). Thank goodness you did okay. Looking forward to whenever you get this project completed. Best of luck. Peace.
Excellent job Matt! I enjoyed watching You take on the Project!! You have a special aptitude for adapting your skillsets to a new set of challenges, and a great attitude for sticking through the completion!! Keep up the good work!!
Matt, outstanding video. You put a lot of time and effort into this project, your kids are blessed to have a dad who cares about them. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks for posting and sharing.
All I can say is what a place to build a tree house. Spectacular views of a spectacular countryside, you certainly live in a beautiful part of the world. You must be proud of your achievements Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
For not being a carpenter and working alone, I think you did an exceptional job of getting it done to this point. One of the pleasures I get from watching your channel Is watching you solve problems and keeping the little bloopers in the video. All in all, it looked like it would be fun to build. You’re going to have some pretty excited kids and thinking they have a pretty cool Dad, thanks for the video, I really enjoyed watching, nice job.👍😉
Wow your kids are lucky, you should have seen the tree houses we had in the 1950s 😂. Ime surprised anyone makes those kits these days with liability insurance claims happening every 10 minutes . Nice job
Jesus Matt, that will be some tree house.your attention to detail is as always beyond precision. I think the strength you needed for this project was every bit the same as you have needed for your Mechanical projects. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️
a very pleasant enjoyable journey, It held my attention all the way to the end, thank you very much. you deserved that beer at the end, good job well done
The every time you forget a tool walk of shame...yup, I know this walk, way, way too well (hangs head in communal shame) I was a bit surprised that you didn't use a come-a-long or straps to help lift & hold the various parts while you attached them.
Wow this is a long ways from the short chunks of 2x4 scrap we nailed to the side of a tree when we were kids. Treehouse technology has come a long way in the last 50 years.😂
Hey there, don’t sell yourself self short. It’s turning out great. Please don’t beat yourself up over it. The kids will love it because you made it for them. Any imperfections I’m sure they won’t care. Good call on those HD fittings as you don’t wanna compromise safety when it comes to family. Continuing to love the content. It’s kinda nice for something different…
I love that your projects seem to go like my projects go....dropped things, missing tools, figuring things out, and MacGyvering your way through the process. Love seeing it. Thanks for sharing.
*- Matt, I have solo built a number of big decks, elevated off the ground around summer homes.* *- I was impressed with your success and how you got there.* *- May I invite you to think well of yourself and be pleased how you solved all the problems.*
Nice job on the base build, looking forward to part 2! One tip with your power cord, cross the two ends over then twist, then plug them in and pull tight. It makes a knot out out them and they'll never come apart unless you want them to. Makes it a lot easier working at heights when you don't have to worry about the plug coming apart.
Matt you’re the Pacific Northwest Hillbilly (not to be confined to only excavator restorations), we’ll watch whatever you put on here man. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out 👍🏻
awesome! As a kid I would've been fuming. The building process is the fun part! The house itself is only fun for like an hour. At least, that's how I always experienced it.
Your right. This year my 11 yo grandson wanted a tree house. I let him do all the work except using the circular saw. He had a blast. He played in it for a couple of months and now he is done with it. The building it was what he enjoyed most. It was worth it for the memories.
Instead of using a compas to get the bolts 180 degrees from each other, you can cut a circle with a 10 inch radius and then cut it in half. That would wrap half way around the the trunk.
Thanks Matt, well done; I enjoyed the project. I built a “Tree house” for my 6 grandchildren and it gets well used. It’s in a theme of a pirate ship which is basically a deck 4’ off the ground with a pointy end. You might construct a “ship” underneath at the base of the tree and your existing treehouse becomes the crows nest. That would be really cool if your looking for project/content ideas. I added a slide, a kid’s ladder, and lot of pirate-themed decorations including a large 3D fierce pirate face. One safety enhancement suggestion - I was worried that one grandson might drop the heavy trap door on his brother’s head, so I ran a line from an eye hook on the door to a pulley higher in a nearby tree down to a pail with sand in it as a counterweight. The kids love it and go in and out of it just for fun. It works really well still after 5 years , closing slowly to allow the kids to get out of the way of a mean brother. 😊
Great work Matt. One minor nitpick. The joist hangers on the ends of your primary beams are supporting the rim joists. So technically they should be flipped the other way. I sympathize with the struggle of working solo. You have to get pretty creative sometimes. I also sympathize with dealing with the live-in clients wanting you to build it fast but without any noise or mess, lol. Keep up the good work.
Matt. Great job, i really enjoyed watching you build that. Please be sure to film the rest of the construction. You're a natural in front of the camera, very entertaining and come across as a real nice bloke. Regards from the UK.
I think at this point in the project ; while your framing the walls etc. , I would tack up some 2x4 "guard rails" so you don't back off the edge! You get the idea. Your doing a great job Zach!
This reminds me of when my buddy asked me to help put together a massive Costco Playground. I figured it would be half a day and done....nope! It took the whole weekend and I will never do that again!
Hey thanks for the video Matt, we really enjoyed it, something different but fun.....at least for us, Ok thanks again see ya next video.....................see ya
Great video, I remember as a kid asking for scraps from job sites to build our tree forts…. Our Dads were way too busy to build anything like this…. Nice work.
Looks great Matt, I bet your kids are going to happy to be up on it once you get the guard rails up! Thanks for sharing my friend, good job! Kirk from Louisiana sending prayers and positive vibes to you and your family! Be careful and stay safe up there brother! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋🏼✌🏻✌🏻💯💯💯
Starting the video, wondering how he'll rebuild the tree after disassembling and cleaning it.
😂
😂
😂Are tree parts available from China? Friday tree parts? 😅😅😂😂
Now THAT’S funny!
He'll just send it off to Area Diesel and let them figure it out.
Please always keep the 'bloopers' in (dropping things and other little errors). They make me feel like part of the club.
Reminds me of myself for sure. One man crew is tough!!!
@@halfwayfarmsandoutdoors3550 Reminds me of me, too. Except I would have fallen off the ladder at least once.
"...and it broke for no reason ..." Thanks Andrew !!! 🙂
The editing really sells that bit! Hilarious

I love these videos. Just some bloke, freely admitting he doesn’t really know what he’s doing but getting amongst it all the same. Brilliant.
“….about three inches of growth. My kids will hopefully be moved out by then.” You forgot something: ‘Hey, Grandpa, can we play in the treehouse?”
You went from being a dozer specialist to a bucket lift specialist to now being a treehouse specialist. Hope your kids will appreciate all the hard work you put into that
Thanks for being so normal.....You're a Great Dad!!!!

King of one liners,
A man that offers to help, but never ask for help. The people in your life are very lucky, great job.
Love your content!!!

That's so cool! I used to watch "Treehouse Masters" and they use similar hardware but I didn't know that these kits were a thing. 👍👍
There is one thing that is clearly obvious in your videos. Just because the sun went down, that doesn't mean the work day is done. Great video!
This was real good.
Matt you are a jack of all trades, that was awesome. Loved every minute of this video bloopers and all, can't wait for part 2.
Ah, the things a dad will go through just so his kids can have a fantasy adventure. Nice job Matt.
I think I can speak for many, Matt thanks for bringing us along.

I found myself holding my breath a lot watching this video. Glad you survived it.
Really enjoyed it . The kids are going to love it .
Another outstanding job matt .
Glad i got time to see your work today . 👍🧩
Great job, now it's time for a zip line down the hillside. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida
Matt, outstanding video. You put a lot of time and effort into this project, your kids are blessed to have a dad who cares about them. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks for posting and sharing.
Great to see you doing this for the kiddos, they will love it.
I am impressed. If I had a tree house like that as a kid every kid for miles would want to be my friend.
A treehouse built to LEED standards... Well done!

Love the tree house so much that I went out and planted a tree so I can build one. Thanks
That should be plenty strong enough to hold up the structure you’re building for the kids! Be careful my friend!
Matt, for a guy who is not a Carpenter, you certainly did a beautiful job on that tree house !!!
I wish I could be there to help! You’re doing great. I was laughing out loud when things started to fall over because I’ve been there!
Great job Matt!!!
Matt, you are a great father and very talented. There isn't much you can't do especially with your positive attitude. Blessings to you.
a very pleasant enjoyable journey, It held my attention all the way to the end, thank you very much. you deserved that beer at the end, good job well done
Man of many talents Matt.Awesome to watch you at work through your videos.❤
Looks pretty professional to me.
Nice ! Taking time to build the family a “safe “ tree house is great .
Great job.

Excellent stuff Matt... The struggle was real world :)
Great Show! Big respect for your willingness to go after new challenges! Keep it up.

Good job, looking forward to more, like you I'm a jack of all trades, makes life more interesting.
You're doing fine and it's looking good!!!
Enjoyed the content and also the bloopers (keep them in) looked really hard to do, and yet again you mastered it.
*- Matt, I have solo built a number of big decks, elevated off the ground around summer homes.*
*- I was impressed with your success and how you got there.*
*- May I invite you to think well of yourself and be pleased how you solved all the problems.*
The solutions you come up with to work alone are fantastic. I never would have thought of this stuff. Cheers Matt
I like many others enjoy your content only wish there was a little more of it. Keep up the good work brother
Nice job on the base build, looking forward to part 2!

Congrats PNH, on building ur Kid's Tree House.. It will take some time, butt ur Kid's will enjoy it alot.. have 4 beers on me..
The tree house will bring so much fun and happiness to your kids and you, great job and it looks amazing your a great dad for doing the tree house.
Your the man !!!
Only suggestion, mount a block and tackle up the tree would help with the heavy lifting .
Keep up the good work 😅
Very interesting and fun video. Your editing is spot on too! Can't wait to see the next tree house build video.
Matt you’re the Pacific Northwest Hillbilly (not to be confined to only excavator restorations), we’ll watch whatever you put on here man. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out 👍🏻
Matt, that is an epic video I really enjoyed it. The Kids will love the Tree House. All the best from the U.K.
I would be as proud as punch if I'd done half the job you did on this project. The kids will get a load of fun out of it.
Matt, I'm 52 years old and will freely admit I'm a little jealous of your kids. I could see myself up there with a deck chair and a beer.
Nice to see you out and about. Looks good.
awesome! As a kid I would've been fuming. The building process is the fun part! The house itself is only fun for like an hour. At least, that's how I always experienced it.

Although I imagine that they will build stuff on top of the platform? Alright alright. It's awesome
Fantastic and beautifully built treehouse!
Instead of using a compas to get the bolts 180 degrees from each other, you can cut a circle with a 10 inch radius and then cut it in half. That would wrap half way around the the trunk.
Wow !!! Great work. Bravo.
It looks like you have created a great base for a fantastic tree house way to go!
Thanks Matt, well done; I enjoyed the project.

Mad respect for you, mate. Well done
I enjoyed this content. You did a great job being on your own. Thanks for sharing.
Working alone is very hard. You do a very good job. Good video.
Beautiful and most amusing to watch!
It’s all good Matt ! You probably pissed some tree huggers off but not me 🤪 The kids at whatever age are going to love it . Well did Boy 😊 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌🏻
More than good enough for the use.
Good work 👏 👍

Getting those first beams on, we have a term for that in the UK, Sketchy as F-ck!
what a great dad!
You sir are a great Dad. Enjoyed learning how to build a tree house.👍👌✌️👀
Matt. Great job, i really enjoyed watching you build that. Please be sure to film the rest of the construction. You're a natural in front of the camera, very entertaining and come across as a real nice bloke. Regards from the UK.

Great work on the Tree house build. Your kids are going to love it.
Did a good job...that's what the kids will appreciate. Most people wouldn't even attempt to do what you did. "Learn by doing"
Great video, I remember as a kid asking for scraps from job sites to build our tree forts…. Our Dads were way too busy to build anything like this…. Nice work.
Minute and half into building and already tractor maintenance :D
It is going to be nice Matt. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.
Projects like this --- get 1/2 of the shop to the area ! The kids will have a blast up there ! Thanks for sharing !

Well done Matt! Carpentry looks good to me, and I would expect no less from someone entitled Pacific Northwest Hillbilly! Lol. Your kids will love it.
