Every version she sings are a work of art. In my humble opinion, the version by the lake is truly spectacular. Beautiful music, from a beautiful people.
What an incredibly powerful effect that would have had on people back in the day! It has a HUGE impact now, imagine what it would have done to the people back then!
OMG THIS IS AMAZING. The beat-boxer was a HUGE surprise! I must have watched everyone of her versions of this song on youtube. And that was a great surprise.
Wow! I've been watching a lot of different videos of this song and I never expected a rap element to be used in any of these versions! Truly brilliant, wisdom of the spirit, bringing this magic into the Next Generation! I never imagined I would see our ancestors through anything connected to rap! Hail sister! Hail Elvor! Hail the old gods!
Do you know the fact that vikings from Eivör's region (Iceland/ Färöar) visited and lived in North East America for almost a century during the tenth century. I am so sure we exchanged musical and spiritual ideas at that time in your land. And this is what you hear. What takes place at 1.59 (and twice more) in this song is not rap but what we would call galder, meaning a musical/spiritual connection with nature. Google galder :-) Can I also suggest more of this line of music. Helvegen means the road to the realm of death (Not to hell which is a common misunderstanding). Watch Wardruna and Aurora interpret the song to guide the dead on Helvegen, and read (Please) the lyrics ua-cam.com/video/FnkTuHP9q3o/v-deo.html The english translation kills a lot but I cannot fins a better
It's not too hard. Scandinavian languages are close relatives of English. Trollabundin= literally trollbound or in this case spellbound. Eri eg = are I or am I (not a question but an inversion that occurs to follow a rule to make the verb second word in the sentence). Spellbound am I. Djupti i mini sal - deep in my soul. Gladramadur festi meg = the wizard has enchanted me or the "glad man has fastened me" or "has me fast" - these words are all related to English but often with slightly skewed or different meanings in English. Fascinating thing about looking at the Scandinavian languages is seeing the connections to English
Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood more or less ;)
Thank you ! This song is heart touching, no matter the language. Tiz... well... kinda... animal ! In french we say "Ça prend aux tripes". The very depth of your guts is shaken. Thanks for your trad !
I find it incredibly sad that you have chosen to be so judgmental. Her music is soul stirring, magical. To me just listening to her puts me in the frame of mind that I can wish no man ill, and all men happiness. She, herself, obviously thought he was a complement to her sound. Music, itself, would never have progressed if we all closed our minds and hearts to new and different ways.

Isn't that perfect
It's almost like they put a 4 year old's macaroni art next to a work of Michelangelo's. Don't know why they let a clown on stage with a goddess.
Hahaha. You have no idea
