    Mone, her husband and anyone on the UK governments side handing out a £200m PPE contract to a connected party's START UP company for unusable PPE equipment deserves to be put in jail for fraud and abuse of public office. This is a related party contract and fraud. The chumocracy caned it for £9 billion. I'll repeat that. £ Nine Billion Great British Pounds.

    Strip her of her peerage? There is a clear element of dishonesty and evasiveness that has no place in the House of Lords. As a criminal lawyer & former politician, I find this truly abhorrent, regardless of the outcome of the criminal investigation - the lack of ethics here is deeply concerning. The net profit of circa £60m should be returned and distributed to U.K. taxpayers to fund vital services like adult social care.

    • @samsoncooper1
      @samsoncooper1 8 місяців тому +3

      Strip her of her peerage and repay? Is that far enough? We have put away those that commit benefit fraud for thousands of times less money and I feel this takes the mick further than any of those did.
      It's laughable that people are only suggesting she repay and may lose a peerage. Lock her away for a few years. Treat her like she is, a bloody criminal. One rule for the rich and another for the poor. It has to stop.

The quote “not trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes” is exactly what you are trying to do, until you got caught red handed. Your only sorry and regretful because you got caught. Prison is full of sorry people, this is no different. Serious fraud was committed and the pair of them should be in prison.

    Their insistence on blaming the cabinet office is pathetic. The rules are the rules, if you want to benefit from millions of pounds by abusing your position in the Lords at least recognise its on you to follow the rules. I don't agree with them taking them to task for making a profit, it's the governments job to procure products, they could implement emergency legislation to requisition industry to assist in the national interest - they decided not to do this, what they charge is their choice. This weird insistence she has on saying she doesn't have the money, based on the trust technicality is so odd and obviously misleading I have no idea why her lawyers have advised her to take this stance.

    Existing suppliers to the NHS with extensive experience and an existing supply chain were rejected in favour of companies who had only been set up a week after winning contracts through a VIP lane. The government are just as culpable. Making profit is not a crime but 30% (not bad for middle men) on cheap, unusable products is despicable, made worse by paying zero tax on that profit by moving it to the Isle of Man tax haven. Vile to suggest they were trying to help. Wealthy persons in power could have set up a non-profit organisation to serve the nation in a time of crisis. The company could have made enough profit to keep the company going but this was profiteering at its worst. Another whammy is that the conservatives have declared they have invested more in to the nhs than any of its predecessors by including the money spent on PPE. Absolutely gross. It’s also been suggested that the delay in supplying PPE to the front line is due to these companies not being established and time needed for them to establish their pipeline so this is not a victimless crime. People have died and we are at over 6% mortality because of that delay and funds not being directed to the front line but these people’s pockets!

    Baroness Mone canvassed government for contracts for her HUSBAND. Her HUSBAND then got the contract and made (at least) £29 million in profit. Baroness Mone does not believe that she herself has benefitted financially in any way from these dealings.
    The above is the bare bones of the story she is trying to sell us. The conclusion of her story (that she has not benefitted financially) makes no sense. So, even if we were gullible and wanted to believe her...we couldn't.
    Continued silence would have been better for them rather than this irrational drivel. They've been caught red-handed, there's no finessing the dodgy PPE situation, they either pay back a chunk of the money or once it reaches the courts they fight it to the bitter end.
