    i was old enough to remember Saturday Night Fever coming out. I lived in Queens, NYC. BeeGees were the biggest thing that ever happened, it seems. Their music was the soundtrack of our lives. Nothing to compare their sound.

    The Bee Gees were already huge before the mid-70s, since the mid 60s or so. But when disco came in the mid-70s, and the Bee Gees jumped on board, it exploded their status and they became more popular. Although disco turned off some. Disco and the Bee Gees have made an even more recent comeback, and with even another generation.

    Fun Fact: The Bee Gees looped the drum track on this song, and lowered the tone of the audio of it to create the drums for Staying Alive. Their drummer was out for personal reasons at the time, so they cut and pasted the tape. Also a fun fact: This song was #1 on the charts the day I was born(April 78).

    They are amazing. They had all the songs that were used for Saturday Night Fever already written and we're in Paris working on an album before they ever knew anything about the movie. They got the call about writing songs for it and they didn't have time but offered to let producers fly to Paris and listen to what they already had. They wanted all of them and ended up writing the story around the songs. They didn't hear anything for about 6 months and they wrote the Song Grease and were at the premiere for Grease when they saw part of Saturday Night Fever but have never seen the entire movie and it was a very low budget movie that nobody expected to do anything. Boom!

    When you mentioned "requesting from the DJ, it brought back a memory. This was back around when the movie "Night Fever" came out. It was a Monday night so the clubs were mostly dead or closed. We found one in the Downtown area so we went in. It was a small ex-neighborhood grocery store that had been converted to a night club. A few people scattered around and one table full of jocks from the local college. We got our drinks and sat down at a table. The music was kinda western so one of our group went up to ask the DJ to play something funky. As soon as the funky music started playing I noticed one of the jocks went up to the DJ and suddenly on the next song it was back to western (for the rest of the night). A couple of us went back up to the DJ and asked what's up. The DJ said that the jocks were regulars. We said that we were paying for our drinks too. The jocks kept giving us a deep mean stare so we decide to drink up and leave. That wasn't enough for the jock so they were following us out. The way the parking lot was situated we would have to drive passed them as they were rounding the corner of the club. We started looking in the glove compartment for screwdrivers or anything else we could use in defense. NOTHING! We had the windows down because is was near summer and I didn't have air conditioning on my old car. We start driving towards the street and past the big jocks as they are yelling threats. Out of desperation I yelled, "IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO SHOOT THEM, GIVE ME THE F#%KING GUN!!" They ran back behind the corner and we drove out like bats out of hell.

    Funny thing is that the movie was originally titled "Night Fever" because of this song, BUT, producers thought it sounded to much like a porno so they added Saturday to the title

    • @dianehouston5708
      @dianehouston5708 Рік тому +1

      The Bee Gees suggested "Night Fever" as a title and Stigwood said it was too pornographic. Stigwood also wanted the Bee Gees to change "Staying Alive" to "Saturday Night", which had nothing to do with the lyrics of the song. The working title for the movie was the same as the article that inspired it, "Tribal Rights of the New Saturday Night". Stigwood wanted a catchier title for the movie. Since he had rejected "Night Fever" and the Bee Gees rejected changing "Staying Alive" to "Saturday Night" the compromise was "Saturday Night Fever".

    Can't believe I am the first to comment on this video! Actually, this song, Night Fever, was the biggest hit the Bee Gees ever had. It was at #1 for 7 consecutive weeks and then fell out of the #1 spot for a couple of weeks before moving back into the #1 spot for it's last and 8th week at #1! This was a hit in the 70's however, not the 60's. Also, there are some hardcore Bee Gees fans who will argue that the group never considered themselves as a Disco act but the truth is that the Disco chart considered them to be the top Disco act of the entire Disco Era, selling more singles and albums than any other recording act of any genre in the 1970's. Disco ruled in the 70's and more records were sold in that decade than in any other decade thanks to Disco music. And for those who may not know, the runner up to the Bee Gees during that era is none other than the Undesputed Queen Of Disco, the late, great Donna Summer! Please hear the album version of Love To Love You Baby by Donna, IF YOU DARE! By the way, if it had not been for Disco, the Bee Gees would today be a footnote in the 60's pantheon as after 1970, they had no hits until 1975 with their #1 hit called Jive Talkin', which was the first of their now famous string of big hits which made them the dance icons they still are today!

      I was Detroit at that time and there were hundreds of discos. Even a 24/7 all disco club mix radio station. Rock fans didn't like it for a couple reasons.....they couldn't dance and it was a total rebuke to the bell bottomed, earth shoes wearing pot heads.

There is an official Woodstock movie made by the guy who put that concert together. Its not new but its very accurate. I don't know about the validity of anything produced by Netflix. I would have loved to go to Woodstock buy in 69 I was on a U.S. Navy supply ship overseas.

    Hey guys. We started a few months ago. We've been watching you guys for some time now. Are you editing with UA-cam? If so, maybe try a video editing program. We use Videopad, and in the audio effects section there's a button to adjust the volume. We use 2 dynamic mics, so we'll boost the volume to 125 or 150 from 100, where necessary, we'll use the low pass button to clean up the vocals. People seem to like it. The software has a monthly billing if you can't set aside the full price. I recommend it if you're not already using one.

Their career was like a multi-stage rocket. They took off as a classic group in the 60's, then Jive Talkin' reignited their career THEN Saturday Night Fever sent them into the stratosphere!
