This indeed a great performance by Morse, all things considered (broken wrist). The whole band is on good form. They also performed this Fireball track on their Perhillion dvd (live in Florida 2001).
Ian Gillan was drunk during this show but sang so well. Excellent version. Another fantastic song Ritchie never wanted to play on stage. Impossible to understand.
Fools (LIVE 2000 MONTREUX) Deep Purple 2000 (Mark VI): Jon Lord - Organ, Keyboards Ian Gillan - Vocals Steve Morse - Guitar Roger Glover - Bass Ian Paice - Drums
Fools I can see what's wrong with me It's in my head I can see what's gonna be As I lie in my bed Man is not my brotherhood I am of the dead I died as I lived as I loved and was born On some distant hill The reasons to hide were the reasons I cried Fools pass laughing still There can be bad blood in all I can see It's in my brain You don't know the pain I feel As I must live again Rocks and stones can't bruise my soul but Tears will leave a stain They smile to themselves as they lay down my head On some distant hill The blind and the child sweep a tear from their eye Fools smile as they kill I got my own way to go and now I want To take your minds I believe if you could see The blood between the lines I believe that you could be A better kind Please lead the way so the unborn can play On some greener hill Laugh as the flames eat their burning remains Fools die laughing still
sorry, Steve Morse, but I think this guitar sound doesn´t really fit to this song. Too much distortion and overdrive. Feel to the song in its album version and tune your guitar this way. The solo is correct, but too much overdriven.
Sorry, it´s just my own opinion, I´m a musician for the last 25 years and so it´s just my own feeling in my ears. Didn´t mean it´s bad at all, but could be a bit better ;)
I like Morse but I agree. Course I'm glad to hear the song live regardless. Would've loved to have heard a version with Ritchie on guitar. Same as When a blind man cries.
A great Number of Deep Purple
I felt like they enjoy playing this song a lot more than most of classics
I have heard it at least a hundred times, but I will always find something new in it.
Grandiose Version
Valeu! Ótima canção ao vivo ficou demais!😎😃😀😀🤘
Jon Douglas lord r.i.p miss you 🎼🎹🙏👊
Steve added his own thing...very good

Fools
I can see what's wrong with me
It's in my head
I can see what's gonna be
As I lie in my bed
Man is not my brotherhood
I am of the dead
I died as I lived as I loved and was born
On some distant hill
The reasons to hide were the reasons I cried
Fools pass laughing still
There can be bad blood in all I can see
It's in my brain
You don't know the pain I feel
As I must live again
Rocks and stones can't bruise my soul but
Tears will leave a stain
They smile to themselves as they lay down my head
On some distant hill
The blind and the child sweep a tear from their eye
Fools smile as they kill
I got my own way to go and now I want
To take your minds
I believe if you could see
The blood between the lines
I believe that you could be
A better kind
Please lead the way so the unborn can play
On some greener hill
Laugh as the flames eat their burning remains
Fools die laughing still
Jon Douglas lord r.i.p miss you 🎶🎹🙏👊
Great Álbum "Firebal"1971 Mk 2🎼🎸😎👊
Elder Statesmen of Rock at their very Best.
Legends.
one of dp heaviest songs they should have done it in 72 and would have loved to see rb doing a solo here
Jon Lord...
Montreux again, wäre Smoke's on the Water, Fire in the Sky.
Oh hi, I'm Steve Morse, I have a broken wrist and I'm still 10x the guitarist you'll ever be. Bloody show off!
Lord Jon brought Ritchie into a show! HONOURED JON (maybe even Ritchie, lill a bit.) Steve is supreme here!
Would be nice to see a live version from the Gillan wearing shoes era, also known as Mk2
There isnt one. Ritchie supposedly didn't like this song.
Maravilhosa performance!
Rock On
darn, wher'e the rest of the song??
damn...
Agree... it is a sacrilege to cut or mix even a single note from the best group in the universe... Life is Purple 💜.
Steve has played a long time with them now has he spent more time with them than Ritchie spent with them? Or in this case with Ian as singer.
in 2010 met Ian & Roger backstage..Roger reminded me Steve had then been in band longer than Richie
ritchie was great guitarist, but after several years was not good for the band... this is my favorite incarnation of the band
Has this song ever been performed live while Ritchie was still with them?
No
A little piece of "Fools" was played during Space Truckin' Blackmore's solo in Copenhagen 1972.

Patrick Maus your a goose mate

you re just damn right. Morse does agood job when playing the riffs, the solo's are horrible. His sound is totally out of place.
Dog, you forgot your medicine?
Is it just me or does that lead guitar not match the song?
I like Morse but I agree. Course I'm glad to hear the song live regardless. Would've loved to have heard a version with Ritchie on guitar. Same as When a blind man cries.
