I remember an NFL coach, who was fired from the Jets and Patriots - bolted USC for cheating, and ran with John Schneider's draft picks. And was the Head coach of a talented Super Bowl team.
Honestly it's not grubb or Geno's fault. He had good plays but the oline was say bad that nothing worked including the run. Passing worked alot more clearly so he stuck with that but that made it one dimensional and led to more mistakes and more exposing of how bad the oline was. Grubb would be okay on a strong all around team but not in Seattle

This the dumbest shit I’ve read today. This isn’t 2004. Oline, oline oline & the rest offensively falls into place even with mediocre or “pedestrian “ receivers.
Grubb's style of offense fits college well but not the NFL so this isn't a surprise. He had some really cool concepts and play designs but not executing them against NFL defenses didn't work
Now we gotta focus on the draft, not only a quarterback and offensive line, But found a good Defensive end that stops runs and rush the quarterback, Tyler Batty from BYU.
Maybe not, but the horrific play-calling WAS his fault. He continually made head-scratching calls that left a team which he KNEW had a bad line in even worse situations where it was doomed to fail. His redzone calls were particularly ridiculous.
The fiasco at the Jets one yard line that resulted in a turnover on downs was definitely Ryan Grubb's play calling, I'm not blaming him for everything but he was definitely a component in the lack of production,I think if we hadn't won that game he would have been in the hot seat earlier. In fact the only comedy in that situation was when Tyler called Grubb a 'terrorist' for screwing it up,I was chuckling for days after that reaction.
It kind of was his fault. There are some coaches and coordinators that do well in the college ranks and there are others that do better in the pros. It tells me he belonged in college.
I'm not sure,we've had a revolving door of OC's but the one consistent has been mediocrity of the O line,it's probably a combination of both but I'm struggling to see who could shine with this O line.
Yes they absolutely did the right thing. Grubbs offense was totally one dimensional. Pass.... Or run.. He couldn't mix it up. Predictable and non effective. Glad they moved on and wasted no time. Tyler there's a lot more choices than those 5.
A horrible decision. McDonald is given a mulligan for his first year, and should have been given to Grubb who is transitioning from college to professional football. He had not worked with this offense, so he too was learning. Bad decision.

IM not disagreeing with you but does john Schneider call plays ?? When Pete Carrol was the Seahawks coach they had at least one play in there arsenal that drove me and my friends crazy that literally never worked ! That play was the ball is hiked or shot gunned to the quarterback and he immediately throws it 90 degrees to the line of scrimmage or directly to the side lines … I don’t ever remember that play picking up more than a few yards ever in fact we lost yards sometimes.. but PETE CARROL would insist on that play over and over ..!! They still ran that play this year with very similar results ! Who calls these plays that pick up 1 or 2 yards when you absolutely need 5-6 yards ..? 🤦🏻♂️😳😫
@Hotrodclassic Schneider doesn't believe in having a good O line, it's not a priority for him. That explains why the O line has always sucked. That needs to change.
@Hotrodclassic I hated when they used those plays, and if they waited another second, someone would have been open. If there's a such a thing as tavern league football, that's what it would look like.
I don’t like it. Every one knows it’s the line just like last year and the year before that and the year before that. I would have liked to give Grub a second year. But nothing is going to change until they fix the middle of that line.
The GM should lose his job. He is in charge. He was in charge when Pete was there. And our O-line has sucked ever since. Fire the GM and get one who will spend money to bring in actual O line players. And actually bring in actual Good O-line players and not some bargain basement players like the GM usually goes for. Seahawks needs to fire the GM.
I agree but let’s see I want John gone too but let’s see how he does this draft and then if it doesn’t take steps in the right direction i guarantee you we cut his ass lose in a heartbeat 🤝
To me it's pretty simple, you need great blocking schemes and the personnel who can execute those schemes. Open lanes for your ground game and short pass game and then the whole field becomes available for those chunk plays and explosives. Geno has great accuracy when he has the protection and time.
Y we need a real OC someone who is experienced in NFL offenses and how to scheme against these complex defenses and furthermore someone who can use all the weapons we have DK, JSN, LOCKETTE, WALKER, CHARBONET,
i'm torn on this firing. The offense was bad..especially the run game, but was that Grubbs fault? or was it becasue the offensive line was atrocious? It doesn't do you any good to run the ball if it's completely ineffective. Not a Huskies fan either so i'm not biased...in fact as a coug fan i might lean the other direction. I'm not against the firing...i'm just not sure it was the problem. Although that opening drive argument is very solid...
