My minis love a bite of willow leaves now and then ❤

Interesting, thank you. A good technique to employ for hedgerow management is “Pleaching” this is a traditional technique that thickens up the hedge, making it secure for livestock, great for improving habit for wildlife from predators, saves on fencing repairs/management, provides windbreaks/shelters, protects the land from losing top soil & helps protect from flooding. Good for privacy & better security!

I'm setting up a track system for my miniature horses, for three purposes: to give them an 8ft wide race track which will allow them to race and gallop to their hearts' content, to hopefully allow for some rotational strip grazing, and, as part of a many pronged coyote deterrent system. The minis will only be allowed into the track under supervision. Their track contains two trees.
I love your idea of placing logs on the track!

Thank you so much for sharing. Sounds as though your minis are going to love their track. Let me know how it goes!

Overall I have about 8-9 acres but the main track is around about 1.5 acres and I temporarily extended it as and when I can

Hay nets are way too high. They are not goats and besides the occasional tree leaves or even bark, they will graze low.

I have my hay nets at all different levels so that the herd use different back muscles, and other supportive muscle groups, whilst eating. Throughout their day they graze the small amount of grass on their track, forage from hedges at various heights and, yes, browse low hanging branches and bark. The difference in them since we have given them the variety in eating heights has been very informative. The beauty of being a horse guardian is that our horses give us constant feedback and we enjoy being guided by them.
