What a neat little tent! It's amazing that it's super lightweight. Good for those who want to backpack with something like this.
Thanks Josh, it's our lightest tent thus far.
COOL! COOL! COOL! - Just awesome! The design, thought and engineering for this has really paid off. unlike anything I've seen! And the applause at the end is priceless :>) Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks a lot, we are very proud of the Notch Li.
That is an awesome setup. Very original design, nice!!
I love this. Have been using the notch for years now. The ease of set up, and only 4 stakes, makes this more appealing to me over competitors, especially with 8 stakes. I also like how you can just bring the tarp. I habe done this at times during winter months.
A camo version of this would be outstanding. Of course, that wouldn't be something that stops me from purchasing this version.
Awesome Myles, we appreciate the kind words. I will say that although currently a camo version isn't a possibility I don't know what the future will hold as we expand.
Def a shelter of my dreams, simple setup, elegant, wind shedding design with tons of vestibule and head room. I can tell that years of design, and thought are behind this shelter. Great video too :D :D
Awesome Don, we do our best. It's true, Henry has been working for years on the Notch.
How long have you worked for the company 🤔
@@jkgkjgkijk Who me? I live in Arizona, never worked for Tarptent, like the shelter, that would be a dream come true.
Brilliant!
I’m up in northern Alberta right now, working away and the ol Rocky Mountains are calling for summertime adventures. So as I work away I imagine and manifest a tarp tent in the future!! ✌️🏔🏕🍻
Right on my friend, thanks for sharing.
It looks a canny set up mind. Well explained and demonstrated, cheers Alan
Thanks a lot Alan, we've put a lot of work into this one.
Sweet shelter and dang, it doesn't weigh a thing!! I'm impressed to say the least!! Ya have a new subscriber here from east central Mississippi!! Dan
Right on, thanks my friend. We do our best to create ultralight tents.
Really liking my Gen. 2 Notch Li (waterproof zippered doors) I've added 4 fly hem stake loops on double layer reinforcements. Soon I'll dye the inner tent green for some shade and privacy.
Cool stuff, thanks for sharing, nice video.
Thank you!
Zpacks is sweating bullets right now...
haha ;)
Great setup video guys! Looks super simple.
Thanks a lot Huck!
This should turn out to be a popular tent - very nice.
We hope so hehe, thank you!
This is pretty awesome, it would be a fun place to sleep at our off grid cabin location while we build the cabin. How cool is this. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.
Building a cabin? That's amazing! Wish you the best of luck.
Yes, my wife and i are, we have been having a blast up there. Thank you very much, we will get it done. Just doing it one piece at a time takes longer, but will be sweet in the long run .
Thanks again my friends.
Awesome!
Great looking shelter and so portable, thanks for sharing...I have pushed the red button, greetings my new friend :)
Thanks Ernest, we do our best. :)
Thats a pretty innovative design...that Dyneema composite material is very tough and wear resistant...i own a couple packs made from this material and must say i'm very impressed !
Thanks for sharing...atb...woods
Thanks a lot. It's a pretty awesome material. However, the fabric that we use on our tent is different than the stuff used on the Zpacks packs. They are using a DCF hybrid material with a polyester face fabric. This is just pure DCF. It isn't quite as durable as the stuff with the polyester face (or our 30d silnylon used on our other tents), but it is really really light which is quite appealing.
Looks great. Nice demo.
Looks like a great tent if it can hold up in the elements and ruggedness of the outdoors. Not familiar with that particular fabric myself. Thanks for sharing - Shane
It can hold up to winter weather with the right sleeping bag, and good staking points.
Outstanding... a two person version in an olive color would be perfect!! Oh I just noticed that you are only 5 from the magical 1K... Go Go Go.
Right now, we're focusing on the Notch Li; however, in the future, other tents made of DCF are not out of the question.
Fine product you have there for sure.. 👍👍
Hey many thanks. Love the new video, a really well designed tent and fantastic detail.
Thanks Andy!
Nice video. Excellent presentation of the tent.
Thanks a lot Greg!
Very nice and sets up and comes down pretty quick too I like that great video
We do our best to make easy to set up and take down models, I appreciate you stopping in.
Great set up and presentation!! Thumbs UP +1
Thank you!
That is a pretty sweet setup. The only problem I see is I don't have a metric tape measure to set proper pole height.😅
Serious though , I like it
Most trekking poles have marks on them in cm. We've found that the set-up works at 45" (if that's the system you're accustomed to).
Riverbendlongbows Outdoors Bravo
Great demo, nice tent 👍🏻
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful tent, very cool. :)) Great demo and video. I subscribed to your great channel. :)) Very well thought out tent. Unique and top notch. :))
Top "notch". He he
Tarptent the company that never has tents in stock, ever.
We're working on a sweet update to the Notch Li! Stay tuned! Do you have a pending trip?
Ooh I really really like this one. Just ordered a new summer tent, but perhaps I should've got this instead :(
Nice update coming in about a month.
@@tarptent look forward to seeing what's on the update
These look amazing! 👌
we appreciate the kind words!
Always bring your hammer on a ul hike you never know if you need to frame a house out on the trail 😂😂
Oh nice good to know thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you!
Very clever tent have really moved on with tents
Thanks Yas Well!
Very nice thank you for the video
thanks for watching.
Great products and channel! Subbed to ya!
Thanks my friend
Mantap coy. awesome video. Hadir for watching yours. like bro43
Thank you!
I really like this tent, but wonder if someone could explain why struts were used versus just extending the fly on out to a point and then include some sort of small flap on each end that could then be opened/closed. This would allow for greater compaction when packing up and get rid of the struts.
Better compaction but heavier and far worse performance. Have a look here --> www.tarptent.com/process/
Minute 3:53 is very revealing of the constructuraal strength of this tent, which is just "okay". Where tunnel tents like a Hilleberg will give in on high winds on mountains or coast lines pushing down, this one will shake quite a bit, as to prevent movement, the poles should be rather secured by two more line instead of one extra, in a 45 degree fashion, to pull the poles tight into two directions forth and back. But that would mean one more line crossing the entrance. Either way, it appears the HMG Ultamid, is the tougher, more simpler design vs. this one or any Zpacks. Also the folding of this tents with all the extra details is not very space saving and a bit cumbersome. I can fold an Ultamid to be a totally flat sheet in the stuff stack, so it takes up less space, like a sit pad.....I still like this tent, but I do not see any pros over a Duplex, with an Ultamid besting both in extreme conditions, like having a true zipper to fully close the guy's doors for gusting rain and wind.
The whole point of the PitchLoc ends is that they increase useable volume, decrease footprint, and eliminate any sort of potentially dangerous compression under snow or heavy wind load -- something that pyramid tents supported by trekking poles can never do. Pyramid tents also suffer from pole-in-the-middle design which cuts off headroom and useable floor space, As for the Duplex, try it in the wind and enjoy much it rattles.
@@tarptent I agree on the Duplex, not my cup of tea. However I use one segmented Aluminum pole, that folds and is much stronger that one or two trekking poles with a higher possibility to fail. If you get bothered by the pole in the middle than I can only reply you have not enjoyed the spaciousness of an Ultamid 2 with two people :-) For two it would be possible to carry an Ultamid 4 and a half insert and have a huge kitchen space inside left. The Ultamid in DCF8 is the strongest design. For those in moderate conditions anything else will do.
Cool beans! I like the addition of the mesh inner tensioners at the peak & the grosgrain vs. velcro trek. pole fastener! I found with my Notch, (older sil/ny version 2012) that the mesh inner got kinda "abused" if I forgot to fully loop/secure the handle fasteners when striking camp. Felt the velcro was a bit abrasive on the ultra fine mesh and thought a small loop of shockcord would suffice to hold the pole handle snug, while never harming the mesh or adding much weight....just thinking out loud :) Also, those external peak guy lines are an awesome improvement!(that must have been added after the 2012 run?) I sometimes run a similar set up using a guyline attached to the tip of inserted trek. pole parallel to the door lines to the ground. It really adds rigidity to the whole structure overall in high winds. The Notch Li looks awesome! Makes me wanna ask if the cuben fly is sold separately? Having a sag-free fancy dyneema composite shell for both my Notch inners is certainly enticing! Keep up the good work Tarptent 👍
Awesome we really appreciate your input. Currently we aren't selling the fly separately.
Tarptent Never hurts to ask, right 😊
But seriously, thanks for replying to my query & also thanks for working to evolve and progress as a company....you all have made many of us "happy campers"! Keep on stitching!
Can you keep your sleeping pad inside the tent when packing it? Looks like thats what she did in the video?
Wow this is amazing to you ship to the uk
We ship world wide. Thanks a lot!
So stoked!! What is the weight of the Fly alone?? Thanks so much!
Great video my friend. I am thinking about picking up a better tent .I will be looking at some of your other video when I get the chance.I have subbed your channel . You will be hearing more from me soon.
Right on, if you ever need help just stop in on chat through our website. We are happy to answer any questions.
Very nice demo. I wonder how it copes in snow and wind.
Quite well. It even has a solid interior option which is designed for winter.
Solid interior?
The Notch Li is available with a partial solid interior with either a Dyneema floor or a silnylon floor. We are currently sold out on the Dyneema partial solid floors, but should be back in stock soon.
I MAY HAVE TO GET ONE OF THESE :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
That would be amazing ;)
I see that you have removed the zippers on the doors. Is this as secure as the zippers in high winds?
It is just as secure. Doors are secured with two pieces of velcro, a hook, and an overlapping flap.
Very nice design. How large of a sleeping pad will it fit? I like using a 25" wide pad.
Thank you, yes it fits a wide pad.
It fits a wide pad is a bit misleading. Whilst it is 34" wide at widest point at trekking poles, that tapers quickly to 20" wide at both ends. More than a 20" pad is tight as the pad will be jammed up against the tents ends. I have the Notch, love it, but keep in mind the width at ends when considering pad fit.
I am not familiar with the DCF tents that Tarptent makes, but their normal silnylon tents have bathtub floors designed to expand beyond the stated width, as much as 5~6 inches from my experience. This is at the expense of bathtub wall height.
I'm considering upgrading my Tiger Wall 2p to this tent. I'm slightly concerned with my height of 6'2". I noticed in the spec sheet the length is stated at 213cm and for the tiger wall it's 218cm which I find just enough and works because of the vertical wall. With 5cm reduced length for the Notch Li I'm a bit concerned I may push the inner tent onto the outer fly?
Also, I have read mixed stories about not necessarily needing a groundsheet for this tent and I'm a bit skeptical about it. I'd like to use the tent for the PCT this year. What would you recommend?
Floor lengths don't mean anything without also considering the end geometry. The Tiger wall fly and interior slant inward making the full floor length not useable. The Notch interior and fly have a very different geometry making the full floor length usable. Have a look at the 3D useable volume video here --> www.tarptent.com/product/notch/#tab-id-5
For the PCT, bring a groundsheet if only so you don't need to bother with setting up a tent on all those fair weather nights you don't need to.
@@tarptent Thank you for your swift reply! Yes the geometry, I tried to explain that a bit too briefly/cryptic I suppose, but I see what you mean and will have a look at that 3d drawing/preview. I missed that somehow.
Personally I have bad (bug visit) experiences with my quilt and cowboy camping on the pct (did it in 2018). I may try again and thus would need a groundsheet for my sleeping pad.
Else, if I understand you correctly, when I set up my tent completely it wouldn't be absolutely necessary to have a (tyvek) groundsheet?
@@MartinH81 Yes, for most conditions along the PCT, particularly once you reach the Sierra, you wont need a groundsheet just for the tent floor.
@@tarptent Thank you once again! Great service thus far, also noted :)
I would like this in .75 DCF :)
How much does it weigh without the inner mesh tent
Fly only with stakes is 11 oz.

@@ericb.4358 tip: turn on the sound
Funny, I just paid $600 or more to get a lightweight tent with a pocket to store my 10 pound hammer.
