Phantasy (Phantasy Star II theme) - Roland MT-32

- Did another cover on the MT-32; this one of the title theme from Phantasy Star II (for Sega Mega Drive/Genesis). I did this a couple months before the Final Fantasy one, actually.
Wasn't sure if I should go for super faithful sound or experimental, so it's somewhere in between. Still feels like I should go all-in one way or the other.
Fantastic sound!
Nice to hear some different sounds
Phantasy Sprite being play on Roland. Nice FFIV re-covered.
Sounds great! All the oscilloscope videos of this song add some weird high pitch to the end of the notes that wasn't in the original. This sounds more like the original in that area since it just plays the notes and doesn't distort them.
There are other oscilloscope videos of this song? (this is my own arrangement of the song). Not sure what you mean about the distortions - unless you mean how a lot of the arrangements I've seen literally just picked the wrong notes in places. I have noticed quite a few of those. BTW, there's an updated version of this track that I uploaded recently. ua-cam.com/video/D5B60LQE0C4/v-deo.html
@@wyatt8740 This is what I mean. Check out this video of the music playing from the cartridge vs a VGM. ua-cam.com/video/p4RU1geVj28/v-deo.html Listen for a few seconds then skip to the next track about 2;45 in. Oh and when I said "this song" I didn't mean your Roland track but the original game's music.
Oh and you can really hear it if you skip a minute into each version... its some where swoop noise at the end of the notes.
@@f.k.b.16 AHHH that sound. Yeah! I have heard that one before. It's one of those things i've cited to people as a way the Nuked core still isn't accurate. And yeah, when working on this I listened to a recording I made off my VA6 model 1. So no high frequency artifact. Phantasy Star II really pushes the YM2612 pretty hard :)
What covers have you heard that have that artifact, though?
@@wyatt8740 I don't think I've heard any covers that include that sound... just OST's where the uploaders are simply playing the music from the game.
I assumed it was a emulation error but in the link I sent, both are being played on real hardware. The VGM file most people use to replay the file has imperfections for one reason or another.
