My music teacher had one of these. She used it to demonstrate how brass instruments worked without the students damaging it. Of course in I was marching trumpet with the highschool marching band.
Trent I used to be biased towards woodwind instruments, I'm a first chair Clarinet player, and though brass instruments were inferior to woodwinds. Because of you I've tried out the trombone and I LOVE it. Thanks Trent, and here's to many more great videos.
I just got one to work on the embouchure transition from playing a wind instrument. I discovered it at a trade show. It's worth it just to practice the air capacity on a trombone. Come on you professionals, is the air really that refined up there? I think it's fine for brand new adult players and would literally be a "blast" for kids 5+ learning through their play.
After watching this, I went back and watched the ones about the plastic tromboner and trumpet. Frankly, I was impressed .... tho I think the price-point is a bit high for what they are. I could TOTALLY see sampling those and using them in my "weird electronic music" ... along with a slew of effects piled on ;)
I found this review very helpful. My child is interested in playing the tuba but he's only 4 and right now about the size of a tuba himself! I'm trying to find an instrument to teach usable skills and give him the chance to make satisfying loud/deep noises without a huge investment (and without the ability to create the shrieking whistle sound of a recorder). This might still be the best option, but I'd love to hear other suggestions if you have any.
Michael Valentin No it’s closer to a slide trumpet from the baroque era. They predate the sackbut and have only a single slide unlike the sackbuts double slide.
What the pBuzz needs is a music lyre (Clarinet style) with a mirror set at an angle to read the slide. Crikey £20! I could get a real Trombone for that price.
If they want to do a slide instrument, why not do an alto or soprano trombone? Having markings for slide positions would be extremely useful. And the smaller size would make it easier for kids to handle.
I'm a trombonist at heart had have recently just started to play the euphonium. This is because in Scotland in schools we have to know how to play two instruments to get part of a qualification in music. I was wondering if you could do either a series on tips for starting out on the euphonium/ other brass instruments or could you do a series on music theory. The exam style I have to take next year is in the following link if you wish to see the standard of questions/ knowledge that a candidate must have. Thanks for all the great content keep up the great work! The exam I will be sitting (www.sqa.org.uk/pastpapers/findpastpaper.htm?subject=Music&level=NH) the old style of exams but still relevant questions (www.sqa.org.uk/pastpapers/findpastpaper.htm?subject=Music&level=H)
I suppose its useful for a total beginner to brass in as much as you can learn how to buzz. But if they had forgotten about the slide business and just gone with a fixed tube they could have marketed it as a PBugle!
This looks so silly how letters are printed in the way that it appears up side down when you’re playing instrument. As soon as I saw that, I was like this instrument has no place in my home Also I was trying to make something like that on 3D printer just for fun, but it’s good to know that tubing like that isn’t enough to cover the registers. I guess it needs to be like slide Trumpet.
Jonathan Coronado of course not! By that metric EVERY instrument would be untrustworthy. Having moving parts is NOT THE SAME as changing shape when you play it. Would you really call a car "shape-changing" if it has opening doors and its wheels turned when you steer? But if your car transformed from a smart car into a limo every few seconds, that's ANOTHER QUESTION ALTOGETHER I THINK!
No, we have a woodwind slide whistle (a regular slide whistle), a brass slide whistle (this thing), but we need a string slide whistle and a percussion slide whistle
+Hello Hello Not so fast. This is quite literally a slide trumpet. It does not have the same structure as the trombone. At one end is the mouthpiece. At the other is the bell. This makes it a trumpet.
Hello Hello Doesn't quite go that far, buddy. The slide almost reaches the bell though, I'll give you that, but the mouthpiece is still at the other end.
Hello Hello My trumpet has a very long tuning slide that is quite some distance from the bell when retracted, but when fully extended, it almost reaches the bell. I'm not sure how to send you a picture.
So to me it seems like the most limited form of a brass instrument, as if they tried to make it have fewer capabilities than one would like. It's not a bad thing I suppose, but it seems interesting that we have people working against the discoveries in musical engineering we have made in the past 300 years.
Don't Swing Scissors I have played MANY out of tune pianos over the years. Protip: if you want to play piano for a living, also learn how to tune and regulate them.
can't wait to see these in DCI.
Yes
I was expecting Carnival of Venice
Max Lawrence lol😂
Ha. XD
My music teacher had one of these. She used it to demonstrate how brass instruments worked without the students damaging it. Of course in I was marching trumpet with the highschool marching band.
Is this the first step towards introduction of the concert vuvuzela into modern orchestras?
SpaghettiToaster yes.
Trent I used to be biased towards woodwind instruments, I'm a first chair Clarinet player, and though brass instruments were inferior to woodwinds. Because of you I've tried out the trombone and I LOVE it. Thanks Trent, and here's to many more great videos.
Gregory Harper _You have learned the truth that is brass master race._
WE HAVE TURNED ANOTHER
Killdren, children, killdren
Trent 2016
killdren
kill all the children
omg i knew it
No he just wants to kill Dren
00:45 I didn't know that red was a key
remotecontrolkid I'm going to write a song in red-flat now.
Shining Armor Eh I prefer things written in blue minor.
So, I did some research and some polychromatic music uses notes like "C-red" or "A-blue"
Shining Armor Dolores Catherino makes some really interesting music with polychromatics, go watch her Ted Talk, it kinda blew my mind
Caleb Niehoff
That's actually where I learned the terminology. Fascinating stuff.
I feel like I laughed way to hard when he said "telescopic... part"
I am a trombonist and your videos open me up to the great world of music. Thank you for creating such good content. You deserve more subscribers
I look forward to all the concertos that will undoubtedly be composed for it!
it's a plastic bazooka
Sockem yeah
Yep, it's just an expensive plastic bazooka!
When you said "Most certenly red" I was very confused because i am colorblind and saw it as green.
You seem to be very insulted by this. It's almost like you have found the worst thing ever and decided to play it.
Watch the recent video on the tromba trumpet he's giving away. That takes distaste to a whole new level lol
Steven Rydel Oh I did. I know.
After watching this, I went back and watched the ones about the plastic tromboner and trumpet.
Frankly, I was impressed .... tho I think the price-point is a bit high for what they are.
I could TOTALLY see sampling those and using them in my "weird electronic music" ... along with a slew of effects piled on ;)
So, as easy to play as a brass instrument, and as versatile as a Swanee whistle.
so it is a plastic bazooka?
Its something only a trombonist could love! ;)
Sounds better than I thought it was
I found this review very helpful. My child is interested in playing the tuba but he's only 4 and right now about the size of a tuba himself! Sarah Jane M A pBone mini would work. It's an alto pBone in Eb. It weighs a little under 2 lbs so it shouldn't be too heavy or anything.
Let him play a tenor horn.
We literally sell these in my school for the students watching a football game
RandomRepeater no that's a plastic pipe with a built-in mouthpiece at the end
As opposed to figuratively sell?
Basicallly a sackbut? (Early trombone)
Michael Valentin No it’s closer to a slide trumpet from the baroque era. They predate the sackbut and have only a single slide unlike the sackbuts double slide.
Sack Butt
I started on a french horn surprisingly enough
It was a nice try though. I'd love to see this instrument in brass with all notes, and a tuning function somehow.
Telescopic part... sounds a bit dodgy.
What the pBuzz needs is a music lyre (Clarinet style) with a mirror set at an angle to read the slide. Crikey £20! I could get a real Trombone for that price.
So...Like a slide whistle, but more difficult to use?
That's what a trombone is
JamesTown Smith lol
Jamestownsmith no a slide whistle Isn't btass
Brass
Most SPITacular
Charles E. your puns are *F L A T*
I'm a euphophonist and I'm in marching band. I need tips on double and triple tonguing.
I'm pretty sure he has a video on that. Try looking deep :)
Euphophone. Is that a euphephemism.?
Those first two notes are the first notes of the Milk Tray Man jingle.
when are they gonna make a plastic sax, cmon
:(
Mr. Chip
I feel you.
There's no plastic french horn either. :(
because the french horn is trash\
Tripp Cailean You're trash.
Mr. Chip they have
Charlie parker played one
If they want to do a slide instrument, why not do an alto or soprano trombone? Having markings for slide positions would be extremely useful. And the smaller size would make it easier for kids to handle.
I'd have rather drilled woodwind-style holes to turn it into something like a cornett...
the trombone of an alternate dimension

The telescopic...part
so try it with a trumpet mouthpiece.....
I suppose its useful for a total beginner to brass in as much as you can learn how to buzz. But if they had forgotten about the slide business and just gone with a fixed tube they could have marketed it as a PBugle!
I am thinking of buying one for my band teacher
love your vids made me spred my wings to try out other instruments
Vaughn Williams tuba concerto please?
His face says it all in the thumbnail🤣
I'd say it would be a help with like you said note pernonseachen
Can you please review the Bb bass
Please do the Pbugle! It is a Bb bugle!
This looks so silly how letters are printed in the way that it appears up side down when you’re playing instrument. As soon as I saw that, I was like this instrument has no place in my home

Is that a bagpipe chanter in the background??
I like how he, respectfully, keeps calling it “the instrument”…😂
How much for one of those?
Does it buzz peas
What I started on trombone still can't play a trumpet or French horn mouth piece
NEVER TRUST AN INSTRUMENT THAT CHANGES SHAPE WHEN YOU PLAY IT PLEASE
michael betlej trombones bro, you dont trust us?
Sloth Dude175 how can I??? One moment it's long, the next it's longer, long, longer, long, longer... Very untrustworthy!
michael betlej this is very true
so like... every brass instrument? to a tiny degree
Concert sousaphone made in India?
My band director has one of these
That’s basically like a trombone...
Hey john candy, why did you stop making movies?
Did you ever play the thing in the whole video Trent?
ha i love it now you should learn napoli on it.
Could u use mutes on it?
Killdren??
It looks like a bugle
anyone else think he was gonna smoke out of it?
That mellophone is on its bell in the back :O
Sammie R wat about it?
It flattens the bell and ruins the mellophone
Sammie R so is every other instrument seen in the video.
mellophones' bells warp much easier than other instruments
Z Bee But it’s a mellophone so who cares?
The first harmonic is a minor sixth hahah
I play string instuments and I wanted to play brass.
0:42 no I can’t “clearly see” I’m color blind!
Victor Angel he means the tune of red not colour
Wait. *£20?* Don't you use $New Zealand in NZ?
It's like a trombone
Hi Trent,
I have a few bits of music that you might be interested in. Do you have some kind of email address?
I'm interested
+DiLLuZioNz EgO Do you read treble clef?
Yes! TrentHamiltonNZ@gmail.com
+Trent Hamilton do you read alto clef? the worse clef?
No, I don't
hola amigo necesito saber si ese instrumento tiene la escala como el trombon
No. It doesn't have a scale like a trombone.
It seems like a over priced slide whistle ...
No, we have a woodwind slide whistle (a regular slide whistle), a brass slide whistle (this thing), but we need a string slide whistle and a percussion slide whistle
Looks like a a slide trumpet in a way
Basically it's a trombone crossed with a vuvuzela.
I like your soprano trombone, me being a soprano trombonist
Jeff Cooper lol thats a thing?
It is a thing.
I want one
7:26 marked as 5 instead of S E X
Do you have a recorder?
AvianTryHard He has a recorder in the background.
it's a giant fucking slide flute dude
What if I'm color blind 0:41
IT’S pBone
Its like a slide trumpet :-)
+Hello Hello Then its like a 'trumbone, XD
+Hello Hello Not so fast. This is quite literally a slide trumpet. It does not have the same structure as the trombone. At one end is the mouthpiece. At the other is the bell. This makes it a trumpet.

Looks just as ridiculous as the Jazzbone
Looks like my bongo
this video gave me a huge buzz badum tiss
4:52 Jocelyn Flores 😂
What?
tanga

Lol the intro sound like nigahiga's Ipad human
The G scale isn't a G scale: is a F# scale!!!!!! WHY???????
hey trent
Hey mate
+Trent Hamilton hey
Trent Hamilton hey
These could easily replace clarinets in marching bands! I mean, you could actually hear pbuzzes if they were on the field.
Almost as good as your Chinese alto trombone
Jazz pBuzz! ;)
Oil the slide.
good meme
i would better buy a t-shirt with four sharpes. pBuzz... nah...
I play piano, trombone and am starting trumpet but never have I seen a piano that out of tune so the "first" position is really just nonsense
Don't Swing Scissors I have played MANY out of tune pianos over the years. Protip: if you want to play piano for a living, also learn how to tune and regulate them.
esta loco
Came to say it is awful after hearing Christopher Bill and Jiggs Wigham play it
Well he must have a load of ego...
The Greatest Pilot No, it's just bad
Its a trombone copycat
I've made better sounding instruments from pipes at home depot
