    I actually prefer SDR Console. It can schedule weather satellites and port directly to WX to IMG. I can leave it running and come home from work to a couple new weather images from different satellites!

    STL plus plus can be even better if they install the ability to pick up digital amateur television too and receive an image,

    The W6EK machine is pretty cool! So is W6VVR and N6ICW! We don't have UHF due to Beale and PAVEPAWS. I hope to catch you on one of them these days! I live-stream the N6ICW Swap Net Thursday nights! 73!

    Craig, RTL-SDR version 3 and 4 do do HF.

      I'm wondering if he bought the version 3 brand new...the version 4 has been sold for months. But I did hear that false rumor years ago that it wouldn't do HF, but it does.

    The case is steel btw. What aerial are you using?
    When I get mine I will be using the X1 HF by moonraker.
    The RTLSDR V4 is able to support HF, however their will be reduced sensitivity which will cause problems to some.

      great info - I'll get the newer rtl-sdr for sure. I didn't mention antennas. In this video it was switched between an DiamondX400 (vhf/uhf), and a fan dipole resonant on 20/30/40/75m (HF). Oddly, broadcast FM works better on the big HF fan dipole (95Mhz).

    Thanks for the nice video. Is there a possibility to communicate via the IO-117 packet satellite using the DigiPi?

    • @KM6LYW
      @KM6LYW  4 місяці тому +1

      Yah, i need to try it. shouldn't be a problem. UHF cubesat. Is it a simple APRS digipeater? or special ax25 protocol? DigiPi can do APRS and ax25/unproto (linpac), and it's a KISS TNC.

    • @KM6LYW
      @KM6LYW  4 місяці тому

      Yah, I stand corrected on the RTL-SDR HF problem -- I have the original rtl-sdr, which doesn't go that low. That's a great value!

      @@KM6LYW I would add that's its easy to believe that it doesn't work with HF since you have to set it to Quadrature to get it in HF mode. So you were right on the face of it.

      It does work for HF, but it's not very good at it. Works better with an up converter like Ham It Up.
