Gold fields are essentially subsistence farms that are generated upon the discovery of gold in a province, and can do nothing but produce gold. When they are depleted, you can then build gold mines, which can give you more options for how gold is generated. For example, you can't move gold fields to other methods of production to use coal to mine more gold, but you can do that in gold mines.
That's how they work in game, but I think he was asking in general? So Gold Mines are places where people work to excavate a gold vein that was formed by mineral deposition in the Earth's crust, while Gold Fields are places where gold from veins was exposed or deposited by deformation or erosion and can be obtained directly.
@@ser6IjvolkI think “gold fields” represent an abstracted idea of a “gold rush”- prospectors haphazardly rushing to newly found gold and gathering it through whatever means possible, while gold mines represent a centralized and organized effort to properly mine areas for gold.

Hey Laith! The "Gold Mines Depleted" event is actually really good. Sure, you don't get the subsistence farm of it being automatically built, but that event allows you to build your own gold mines, where you can get it to use stuff like Atmospheric engine and whatnot. You get an even higher gold output when they dry up and you build your own gold mines. Would recommend using it. Great video! Edit: also please keep playing with HFE, great mod which adds a lot to the game.
Gold FIELDS are meant to represent prospectors just prospecting on their own; surface level, not very efficient, but needs very little in the way of input. Whenever gold FIELDS dry up, you can make gold mines; proper commercial mining project, goes deep into the earth.

The boer republics states set up after the dutch lost the cape colony to the British after the two Boer wars they became a part of the union of South Africa as colony of the British.
The Boer Republics set up long after the Dutch lost the Cape. The Groot Trek started in 1836, and the republics of Nataal, Oranje Vrystaat and the Suid-Afrikaansche Republiek would only appear in the latter half of the 1840s. Nataal would be annexed in the late 40s, while the Vrystaat and Suid-Afrikaansche Republiek would be annexed twice, the first annexation being nullified by the First Boer War, and the second being permanent, with both being incorporated into the future Union of South Africa.
