Simplified Washday Tutorial Using Only Two Stylers

- This is my current simplified wavy curly washday using just two stylers. With all of the options emerging in the work of curl care, it’s so easy for us to get carried away with using ALL the things. However, in this simple wavy/curly hair tutorial, I share just how easy it is to get beautiful results with a minimal amount of curl stylers. I also walk through my routine of creating curl clumps (which I lovingly refer to as #brushropeshake). I also walk through simple application techniques for wavy and curly hair application. If you follow the Curly Girl Method, all of these products are all curly girl approved.

Thank you for this video! After years of trying countless products and spending too much money, I have found, like you, that simple works best for me. I love the Bounce Curl Clump and Define cream and it is the only product that keeps my thick, course curls hydrated. I apply it the same way as you do and then top it with Giovanni Strong hold gel. It took years but I finally found the perfect combo for me. I hope all curly girls will find this video...it will save them time, money, and frustration. You are the best!
Exactly the routine I was looking for with exact products I want to try. Thank you so much!😊
I am just now venturing into the curly girl method and my hair is wavy curly too. I was lost with all of the different products and techniques out there so this is a Godsend! Thank you so much for this video! I cannot wait to get started now.
So happy to hear!! I know it’s overwhelming to start, but it will become second nature in no time ❤️
I'd be interested in seeing your hair on day 2/3 and how you might refresh. Thanks.
Thank you for the video! How was your hair parted and not stuck to your head when you got out of the shower? Did you rinse then comb / unstick?
Jenna Dallacco Not sure exactly which part you’re referring to but I’ve seen many UA-camrs say (and experienced it personally) that when a brush is used to comb through conditioner or stylers it allows the hair to naturally fall as you work with it.
If you head over to my Indepth Washday with Innersense, I actually walk through a few ways to avoid this. I hope that helps!
Thanks for sharing! Would have loved to see what day two, three and four ended up looking like for you using this simplified version. And also when you ended up doing your refresh and what you did for it. I have very similar hair and actually use all the same products so this was great to see. But curious how you hair fares over the week with just two products.
Noted! It holds up well with a light refresh. I’ll put together a video showing following days.
@@WavyCurlyAli Thank you for doing this awesome video!!! You and your curls are beautiful!!! Audio is much better in this video.
I just got the Bounce Curl! I'm excited to try it. I'm so happy I saw this because I totally would have used too much!! 🙏
Wish had watch all of your videos first. That was definitely like all the curlys say "a gamechanger" 😅 thank you so much ❤
So happy to hear this has been helpful 😍
Love also your Video "shit I tell myself on washday". This is so damn true 😂
This video came at the perfect time as I've been experimenting with simpler routines for the summer. Thanks! I enjoy your videos as I have a similar hair type and hoping to eventually have your length!
So I had just experimented with the Orange Marmalade as a single styler. I get zero cast with minimal volume and hold. My hair is super soft and wavy, but no bouncy curls. Tried this variation today with the cream, OM, and post plop insurance glaze, and had a similar experience with the slightest cast.
I'm wondering if this would be a sustainable product pairing for you with so little protein. I'm thinking my hair is now trending towards being over moisturized after a couple of washes without tons of protein in my stylers.
I typically use Innersense Volume + Lift + Hold or AG recoil + mousse gel.
This pairing is actually one of my holy grails! Have you tried applying the cream, micro-plopping, then adding the gel? Sometimes removing the excess water from your hair will help your gel for a harder hold cast. I hope that helps ❤️
I think OM actually has protein in it! But I add Blueberry Bliss Leave In (has protein) and use Bounce Curl Gel Creme before OM. It’s the first time I’ve actually gotten a cast! Maybe try layering, as well as squeezing out excess water before applying.
Beautiful hair! What type is it? I think mine looks like yours but less defined I think mine is 2a (I just started styling my natural waves instead of straightening)
Hi Lyra! My hair is 2b/2c ❤️
Do you prefer these products over the LUS? Also what blow dryer amd diffuser do you use? Thank you!
I agree with the denman brush, taking out rows didn’t give me bigger clumps either 🤷🏻♀️
I’m wondering if it’s because I have a looser wave pattern? Is your pattern looser? Either way, I suppose it’s nice to have the option and a cool feature of the brush 🤗
Wavy Curly Ali I have pretty much wavy-curly hair just depends which part of my head lol
Great video. I love Innersense❤️ Is your hair layered??
Thank you! Yes, I have a Devacut so there are a lot of choppy pieces. The top section of my hair is much short than the bottom. This allows me to maintain some overall length and still achieve a bit of volume 🙌🏼
Do you find the orange marmalade over moisturising? My hair gets over moisturised really easy and someone said this made their hair worse so now I’m scared to try
I don't actually! But everyone's hair can react differently. If it helps, my hair is high porosity, medium width and density. Since this product contains Aloe (which mimics protein) my hair loves it.
I was always drawn to bounce curl and want to try their curl cream but it's got phenoxythenol in it and I don't trust it. Also it's in a plastic tub and after the whole diva curl debacle I kinda wanna move away from plastic tubs and stuff. Currently using oway products and love them. I love your hair though, so pretty!
Love this! I just ordered the Orange Marmalade gel - do you keep it in the fridge? I saw on the company site that they recommend that. Sounds like a pain XD haha
I don’t keep mine in the fridge. My husband keeps our house really cool though. I go through a bottle n a few months. I always look at it and smell it to make sure it hasn’t turned.
Love It!!! Thank You!!
What does the Orang Marmalade smell like and is it a strong smell? Also, does it linger? I ask because I am sensitive to fragrance. Thanks!
In my opinion, it has the faintest orange smell. It’s very very mild in scent relative to other products I use! I wouldn’t say it lingers.
Wavy Curly Ali Thank you! I appreciate it!
With this products help when the weather is hot? My curls start getting so wave down with this weather being so hot.
you would want to use more gel. i usually apply more gel and when it dries, i scrunch out that cast but not all the way so it still has some hold. hope that helps!
Victoria gave a great response!
Your hair is literally exact same as mine! You should try The Mane Choice Peach Black Tea Anti-Shedding& Volume Mask. You will absolutely love it. It is an amazing protein filled product! It gives your hair a ton of slip!
I love me some protein 😍😍 thank you for the suggestion!
One of my favorite hair masks
Is innersense dermatologically tested?
You look bomb 👏
Hi Ali🙋🏼♀️ No matter how small amount of orange marmalade gel I use, it leaves whitish residue on my hair when wet, and it makes my hair very heavy when dry to the point that it feels dirty. Do you know what could be cause? I was using Biotera gel before and never had this problem.
Funny. The orange marmalade is pretty hydrating as is the Avocado and Rose clump and define cream. Could you have used too much of either? I love those 2 products but I add the Cantù foam for more curls. The foams help me and foam first- then gel.
Wow! Who did your nose? It's beautiful, perfect! Also, love your hair.
Are you high or low porosity
I always just use 2 stylers maximum 🤔😅
