This is a wonderful example of Game Night doing it's job perfectly - this is a game I was completely uninterested in but watching it be played really interested me. I do agree with Aaron that the art design is far too 80s-90s in quality. I really feel that a better design would have done this game wonders on people's first impressions to the game.
@@bartthompson5528 Checking in here from the future, 2019. They still mansplain Nikki. Watch their Spirit Island episode for more rage inducing domineering.
I was pretty meeeeeh-ed about the game upon listening to the rules. But it seems to be really fun and tricky. Between the card selection, events and the great coward / brave mechanism, i was really hooked. Now i'm really curious about the other nominees
Do it. My group and I had no interest in the look or theme, but we played it a couple years ago on halloween and it was a big hit. Lots of cheering and groaning and a good amount of strategizing made this an instant keeper.
Can you all see this game having good replay-ability? The lightning bolts change spots each game, but is that enough to play this over and over more than 4-5 times without it feeling the same every time?
PreppinShootinLivin That, the event cards and the timing of the cards being played changes the game decisions considerably each time you play. They really makes the game fun for me.
Do each of these expansion things have names? Do each of these...? *gives up* :D It's funny, but also sad. (Aaron and Dave are far more guilty of it than Lincoln and Mark, but I don't think it's meant in any way offensively… it's just they get so caught up in their own thoughts about the game.)
Nick Edwards Completely agree - but it is painful to watch. My partner can be very quiet at the table, while I know my friends and I can get very involved so I can sympathise all ways round!
I used to watch several videos of this show and over time it has gotten harder and harder to do so unfortunately. I think the group would benefit from some more women. There needs to be more than one woman in the group. Everyone has good qualities and something valuable to bring to the table, but more often than not the episodes make me cringe from time to time because how Nikki is treated. No one is doing it on purpose or out of spite, I realize that but it’s a symptom of a bigger problem in society. Nikki is interrupted and talked over in a way that the male players are not. This has happened in several of the videos I’ve seen. Players also suggest moves and actions for Nikki to take on her turn in an other way and more often than they do this to other players. These types of behavior are prevalent in the society as a whole, not only a board gaming problem. Still it becomes a board gaming problem because a person is treated differently. I’m sure Nikki is fine but I would hate to be in her shoes. Many women have these types of experience regularly and it’s frustrating and frustrating to watch someone else in that position. The group has so many redeeming qualities too, but whenever these gender based issues comes up I get this sinking feeling.
Man, this game discussion is worse than usual in terms of interrupting and kind of ignoring Nikki. I know this is old, but I really hope they can bring in at least one more regular player who is also a woman. It might help keep the more domineering guys in check, even if she just serves as a counterbalance.
Near impossible to find this game now. Thanks for the run through!! Looks just up our alley :)
Played this yesterday with two friends and we all loved it. The brave/cowardly mechanic is so fun. Excellent artwork too.
Witch pun did you have in mind?

I feel like Nikki can never get a word in edgewise.
Andrew Henchen Me too, and I'm as much a culprit in that happening as the others :( She does get a chance to go in depth on the SdJ roundup video.
Andrew Henchen Doesn't seem to happen with only 3 or 4 players. This was the first time I could tell she was a bit frustrated.
I agree. Dave is so domineering--he needs to stop interrupting people. It's just rude.
Agree 100% percent. This is my first and last time watching this crew. Way to mansplain and ruin the video.

I just realized the shelf with an entire collection of Friedman Friese games 😄👍👍
Anybody know where I can find that cool shirt Nikki is wearing? I have a soft spot for Disney stuffs!
I believe that was a TeeFury.com shirt. Thanks for the note and for watching. -Lincoln
@@boardgamegeek Got it! Thanks Lincoln, what you guys are doing here is amazing!
The look of this game did not attract me at all, but the gameplay makes me want to buy the game.

What movie quote is that from?
“If you dare? Dare, dare. “
It's a tiny quote from Blazing Saddles. Pretty silly. Thanks for the note and for watching-Lincoln
I would really like to see you exact five players play Resistance. I'm sure it would be sooo entertaining.

PreppinShootinLivin I guess watching all the way to the end there are those additional tiles that can be added in....that may help things quite a bit.

Lincoln Damerst Sounds good. Thanks Lincoln!
I thought I would hate that game, but it actually looks fun!
great game guys...cool game

Yeah that was hard to watch.
Dave hitting people with the wand is a little disturbing, but great demo of the game. thanks guys!
It's very similar to Witch's Brew. Can you really choose to be cowardly if you are the first player?
Victor Pluntky So apparently you can, this is a major difference to Witch's Brew, not sure it makes the game better though =/
Victor Pluntky Heh, it definitely does. I never warmed to Witch's Brew for precisely that reason.
