I agree. His oeuvre is heavily overshadowed by many Beethoven Sonatas and other Romantic Sonatas. Though those works deserve great recognition, daring works such as these should also be acknowledged.
@@therealrealludwigvanbeethoven the sound is completely different from Beethoven, even though this was composed at about the same time as the later group of Beethoven sonatas. In the first movement here, the first (daemonic) and second (lyrical) thematic groups have little connection, but it's nevertheless effective and well-written.
Um tema do andante parece-se com um tema do Triplo Concerto de Beethoven. De resto, uma excelente sonata. Belíssima mesmo, a antecipar Mendelssohn e Schumann. Em que ano foi composta?
On my 3rd listen I find there is charm and the 2nd theme is used well 19:08 amazes me so neat so quickly crossed over and this is Live!!!Richter.Did Beethoven ever hear Weber ? One wishes he could have heard Schumann's chamber, symphonic and the genius of hispiano works. This claptrap is deservedly rarely heard in concert.I'm amazed that Gilels and Richter held respect for it !! Richter and Gilels feel something ? One can't pass judgement on listening once toformely respected famous good work .The slow mov. reaches one immediately though it's trite too! !Thankk gawd for Schumann & Mendelssohn ! if this and the other chore-to- listen-to Weber Sonatas were all that Germany produced in the first half of 19th century. Moscheles?, Hiller? I must find out if he did anything worth hearing now Alkan supposedly was a German school composer yet all his study was in France and his outlandishness is comparable to Berlioz ! hmm. Richter and Gilels play 2and 3rd Sonatas . There's a lot I dontknow .Tight construction ,2ndlistenable theme of 1st mov. does not make this a better experience .Any Beethoven sonata has more interest 1853 first Brahms Sonata is published though written after No.2 Which I spent 2 semesters on and adore yet Brahms thought No.1 better and most now think no.3 the start of the 3.So,who IZ I ?
Little trick for looking at dense adagio-like sheet music: always look at the small things - always just a bit at once. The big picture will always look like that if the music is written so densely. It's just like eating very dark chocolate or even butter, of course the thought of the whole bar in your mouth won't be that pleasant :D
I wonder how can these 2 to 3 patterns should be tracked... having 2 in a hand and 3 on the other hand is ok... but having it in 1 hand is something else XD
Wow, the last movement of Weber never fails to impress me!
This is so powerful and poetic! A hidden jewel of the piano repertoire! Thanks a lot for sharing!
incredible performance as well as a strong and very innovative sonata from start to finish!
Wonderful upload, thanks for putting in the work to sync the sheet music
Weber. Richter. Incredible.
Excellent piece !!
Thanks a lot, this piece is amazing, people described it as ‘demonic’ when it first got published. Pity Weber's piano music is rarely played.

@@therealrealludwigvanbeethoven That's the price he had to pay for becoming the transition between Beethoven and Liszt.
@@prammar1951 Indeed.

@Timothy Thorne I didn’t assert that Beethoven’s sonatas are similar to Weber’s, simply that the latter’s are often overlooked.
At first I thought it said Webern, and I was like, 'wait, why does this sound so classical/early romantic...' :D
Webern had an infact and suddenly started writing tonal music. lol my idea as well
How does Andrew Lloyd Webber fit into this discussion?

Something small to add .. Franz liszt republished weber second sonata
Another ways of understanding mozartian revolution in music..
Listen to Dino Ciani rendition too…👍😉
2nd movement's sheet music.. it scares me
