Hope this is helpful kids! Having continued to wear it, I definitely prefer using a mattifying primer in my t-zone rather than setting it with a powder. Makes touch up later on much easier, but it also wears better!
Also, to make shade selection easier, Lisa has sample cards. I think the lighter shades are now sold out but they will be restocked soon.

I'm also pale olive and shade 9 is a perfect match! It is truly olive.
To be clear this particular formula doesn’t oxidize it dries down, much like paint looks lighter when wet because it’s reflecting light rather than absorbing light when it’s dry.
I figured it valuable to point this out. Also oxidation is a whole other issue for people who don’t realize the difference.

I’m so glad you tried this because I gritted my teeth and bought it. Just waiting for it to arrive. The older I get, the less I like powder so the fact that this is self setting was a selling point. Anyways, it looks great on you and I feel better about the purchase.
Thank you for not using a filter. I love that I can see the texture of all the different areas of your face. I'm a fair cool olive and I swear us olive girls have more to hide (I'm looking at you, under eye circles!). Seeing how the products work on those areas helps me see how to use them on myself. So thank you!
YES! I watched a tutorial the other day and the lady had a filter that was so strong I couldn’t see anything she was doing. It’s important to not use a filter for videos like this where a product is being reviewed. I want to see how the product works on the face, how it performs, how pigmented it is. When you use a filter you can’t see any of this.

Yes. I think Lisa said there is a reflection at first that makes it look lighter and as it settles in that it will darken.

The thing is the actual olives shades start at 9 . I have three and it’s way too yellow and warm on me but it’s so sheer it’s workable regardless she did say that she’s coming out with more fair shades around new year . Also edit : I am a fair olive as well .

Thanks for that info. I am also a fair olive and when I tried no.9 with the sample card, it was way too deep for me so I ended up purchasing shade no.3, which I can make it work for light coverage but when I build up, I feel the colour does become too yellow/warm on me. It may be that is because I am a cool toned olive so if you are a warm toned fair olive, no.3 will probably work well. I do hope Lisa makes us a fair olive shade with a little less yellow and more green in the future.

Lisa Eldridge foundation retails for USD 61.00. I got the foundation sample card, which really helped in choosing the correct shade. I ended up ordering a lighter shade than I initially thought because of the oxidation. I didn’t set it during my test run and I got a bit oily in my t-zone at day end. I am new to foundation because I am mixed raced it has been impossible to find a color match. I hope Lisa is working on a full coverage concealer😁 I feel better about my purchase because you initially liked it too.
I’m in most brands a medium tan shade, leaning a bit neutral in the winter. I purchased shade #17 and it’s a perfect match.
Finally someone who knows my struggle! I’m mixed race myself, (Japanese/Mexican) fairly new to foundation again, and it is near impossible to shade match myself. 80% of time I need 2 colors of a foundation and it’s just not affordable! I’m pretty close to you in shade, maybe a hair lighter than medium tan but I was thinking of getting #17. Anyhoo just wanted to say your comment was helpful!
I'm also mixed race and find it hard to get a foundation that actually matches my skin despite being on the fair side. My skin color is somewhere in between light and dark olive and constantly have to mix different shades to try and get a color somewhat near my skin tone. Thankfully, I have it easier than my sister, who has darker skin than I.

I LOVEEEEE her new foundation, it's everything I've ever wanted from a foundation, not too heavy, doesn't cover every tiny blemish on my face. My skin still looks like skin. My face also doesn't get super greasy throughout the day. And the shade I bought is a perfect match for me. I also love how the amount it pumps out is a small dot. I don't waste anything. Plus the packaging and bottle is gorgeous.

I just watched Allana Davison’s review of this foundation. With her dry skin it was pretty awful and emphasized her dry skin quite a lot even with Primerizer first. After many layers of skin mist and setting spray it turned out ok. Also for Canadians, with duties and shipping this works out to about $100 per bottle 🤯🥺 So I’m here to see a different skin type review! Definitely not buying it at that price to get it to Canada. So I’m living vicariously through others.

I watched Allana's review earlier today and was stunned by the price for Canadian buyers !! Wow, definitely works out on the high luxury end. I thought goods from the UK were expensive enough for other European countries, but the Canadian shipping and import charges were really high!
Hannah Louise Posten had a similarly bad time with this foundation (emphasized dryness, broke apart after some wear). When she touched her face, all of the product in that spot was entirely gone. I'm shocked to see this looking so amazing on Alex's skin, but I think when folks with dry type are putting this on over layers of moisture, it just doesn't sit well. I'll have to check out Allana's video because this product was definitely enticing.
You have to use the new RCMA foundation. It’s INCREDIBLE!!! You have to try. One pump is your whole face with full coverage. Not matte. Not dewy. Just amazing ❤️ better applied with sponge fyi
I bought it and love it. I’m 63, with good but mature skin, dryer in the winter. It didn’t oxidize at all on me. You might be mistaking the dry down from actual oxidation which is where the foundation actually changes color once it’s dried it on your skin. I got shade eight, and it’s probably just a touch too light for me but it blends in really well and it really does look like skin. My skin is slightly golden and slightly peachy and it’s impossible to find peachy foundations that works for me.I wanted to try the light medium color samples but all of the samples were out of stock. I paid $61 usd
100% accurate, dry down is much like paint, it reflects light when it’s wet & absorbs when it’s dry.
People are confusing dry down with this product to oxidation which is totally different.

I prefer it. I use the dermablade from Stacked Skincare once a week, usually the night before I film. It really does make a huge difference in how your makeup looks

Same here, the EX1 shades are neutral but not a true olive. Still a great affordable foundation if it suits you! The LE foundation is truly a great foundation and such a close skin match❤️
I just did the shade match thing on the website for this foundation. I wear Revlon Colorstay for Combo/Oily Skin in the lightest shade 110 Ivory and that is the best match I've ever found for a foundation. When I put that I'm the shade matcher tool on the website, it suggested shade 7! I was shocked, it looks way too dark for me, and the model's skin is very clearly darker than me. Now that I know you wear a darker shade of the Revlon Colorstay, I won't get shade 7. Thank God I watched your video first!
Seriously contact Lisa’s customer service, they will help share match you! Her shades are quite different than other brands, you may be surprised.
It said I was shade 14 🤣 nope. But there isn't a rosy undertone in the depth I need so oh well lol
In Lisa's video she points out that just because you wear the lightest shade in other foundations doesn't mean you'll wear the lightest shade in hers.
I’m usually one of the very lightest shades in most foundation, but I’m a 5 in this one. I emailed customer service and they were so helpful in helping me find my match. I also could get away with wearing shade 2, for some reason 5 and 2 both work well, but 5 is neutral and it really helped cancel out the redness in my skin. Definitely buy samples and try them out.
@@LydiaMorsman that's great. I am EXTREMELY pink/cool, and unfortunately it's shade 2 (which isn't that pink and is very very fair) and the next rosy tone is light-medium which is way too dark. I feel she didn't release enough cool tones sadly. I can't wear neutrals bc it looks super yellow/orange which ends up me looking like an umpa lumpa lol

I LOVE this foundation. I did buy the wrong color. 1 is too light for me. I should have ordered 2. There isn’t supposed to be oxidation with this foundation. I believe it is color adjusting. I used my regular primer and it was beautiful. I used a matte primer and I hated it, I have combo skin.
Actually just used it again. I think it’s perfect for me now.
I got #18 and I’m obsessed! Perfect golden olive and tone, and literally the only foundation I have ever purchased that matches! I can’t wait for her to launch some concealers!
That price is ridiculous no foundation or makeup product should be that expensive IMO.

(I've only just started the video) I'm generally the same shades as you (fair/light with neutral/warm olive) and shade 9 works for me brilliantly, I tried the sample of three but it was just off enough to be unflattering and nine is absolutely spot on - truly seamless.
Perfect colour match for you! Looks seamless. The other Olive Golden looking contenders are shades 6 & 9 in her collection
My perfect match of Lisa's foundation is shade 16, which is a medium olive. But I ended up getting shade 17 simply because I liked the golden undertone better and even though my skin is very olive, I'd rather not have that so accentuated by my foundation. Still, shade 17 worked perfectly for me and it is now my favorite foundation. The finish is truly skin like and I hardly ever need to retouch it. ❤️

I got this in shade ten and it is lovely! I don't do full coverage... this gives lovely coverage even with one pump, applied with fingers and it makes my skin look amazing. Not like normal foundation at all. I love it!
Quick edit: I am not an olive tone.. more neutral. There is a great video on Lisa Eldridge's channel showing a number of ways to use the foundation to change the finish. very interesting.
I've actually been doing that recently for daily makeup, just doing like a small amount and appying with my finger to color correct, and this foundation is so good for that!

I also got a shade 10, which I think is more golden. However, I think I should have gotten 8, with more peach undertone and a bit lighter than 10. I didn't really take the drydown into consideration, and they were sold out of all but the darker samples, so I couldn't check in advance. Guess I'll find out when I try it for the first time!
@@rocketmansdaughter5613 Lisa said there is some leeway with the foundation and more may fit one person. I find 10 to be quite rosy, at first it seemed golden perhaps, but after 20-30 minutes it set pretty well into my face. It’s probably not my ideal color, but honestly, no one can say, it works 90% color wise. I hope it will fit you well too when you get it :)
Recommend trying the Clarins emulsion sunscreen. I have tinted & non-tinted & I will wear them separately or mix them together to get whatever level of tint I want/don’t want. I have dry mature skin so I layer a lot of skincare & pilling is something I deal with on the regular with a variety of the other sunscreens. Hasn’t happened yet w the Clarins. It’s also very lightweight & all the other good things. It’s also the brand that both of the staff who work at the beauty boutique where I shop use, which I found out after I bought it!!

Hi 👋! Try the SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen! I think you will love it! I do have combination skin type myself and it works perfectly with my foundation ( I use Armani luminous silk and Pat McGrath ) and doesn’t peel of ! You look beautiful by the way!
I'm light-medium, warm and olive and I don't wear foundation or concealer. I have very pretty skin. The bottle is cute tho 😂
I think the shade, at least on camera, looks spot on on you.
I really think she nailed it with the shades generally, in that they look "realistic", if it makes any sense. Some high-end foundation lines tend to sometime have a certain undertone throughout them (e.g. YSL Touche Eclat, until the most recent reformulation, was orange, irrespective of which shade/undertone you chose, similarly many Chanel foundations are too pink, even the shades that are advertised as having a warm undertone, etc.).
Also, Lisa's shades seem to be "stretchable", within the same undertone family - e.g. I got shades 6, 8 and 11 and I can get away with wearing all three of them, it's not like there's a huge jump in intensity between them, quite the opposite.
I also think it wears and looks beautiful, I just need to be careful when powdering. I like to powder, despite being a bit dry, because I can also get a bit oily, plus it generally tends to prolong wear of foundations, plus nowadays some powders have additional blurring properties etc. I have yet to try out what works with this foundation, but so far I am noticing that if I do powder, I either have to be very careful and light-handed or use a specific type of powder that is barely detectable in the first place (like the Chantecaille one, which is baked gelee and so it's quite hard to overapply), otherwise the combination of powder (e.g. Kosas, which otherwise works just fine for me with other foundations) and this foundation can end up looking pretty cakey pretty fast. So I have to learn to find a middle way or learn to forget powder if I am wearing it.
On camera, that shade perfectly matches your neck and top of your chest. I wouldn't go any lighter or warmer. I'm an olive, too, but deeper than you, so my shade is Number 16. It is SPOT ON the color of my skin, including that weird "greige" tone that olives can cast. I'm in love with this foundation, and the best thing is that since the color works so well for me, it looks like it's my skin---except for the redness and hyperpigmentation, which are completely concealed by this product.
Have you tried the Valentino foundation? The La2 is a great colour for fair olive skin (closer to your rare beauty 170w) and the finish is similar to LE foundation but it doesn’t lean peachy. I would love it if you could do a review on the valentino foundation and compare it to the LE foundation.

I’m actually going to Lisa’s pop up shop this week and hoping to get a perfect match for my skin tone as she has artist that will apply the foundation and hopefully find a perfect match same as you I’m a fair olive but I have rosacea so it will be interesting to see how it will work on me

I found using a flat foundation brush worked MUCH better than my usual kabuki style for this on the sample card I got but I’ve not tried it with a sponge yet.
(Also 4 is a smidge lighter than 3 but only marginally if anyone isn’t sure - I had to choose between those two lol. One is White with a capital W.)
Do you wear the elta md uv clear spf exclusively? The pilling is definitely an issue and I developed a sensitivity to the product as a whole after years of use. I think from damaged skin barrier. I can only use a mineral spf now.

Looks gorgeous! 😍 I only managed to get set 3 and 4 of the samples, waiting on 1 and 2 to be restocked before I splurge. So as a fellow pale green person, I just wonder how it looks like in natural daylight? Foundations usually look fine on me in (warm) artificial lighting but then I look in daylight and it's super pink/orange/yellow :')
Try Tarte Hydroflex in Fair-Light Sand. It's been an excellent desaturated olive friendly tone for me and doesn't look pink in daylight.
The shade is top matching, but the foundation looks very heavy. I am not impressed.

When I first got this I felt the need to do like 7 pumps but since then I've realised it works with less and like tapping it on. It takes a lot longer to apply than my old foundations though. It definitely has a blur effect and I am still finding what concealer works with it. Fantastic formula.

I tried out samples of the foundation before it launched and the shades of the samples worked great for my neutral medium skin, my new favorite foundation by far!! My skin but better, don't look like I am wearing foundation which is a plus for me!
Very thankfully, Lisa has blister pack quads available - perfect for UK and non UK people who feel unsure about which shade to buy. They were made available for purchase weeks before the actual launch. To say I was so surprised when I learned what was to be my ideal shade.
Initially, I "eye-balled" my shade to be no. 9. However, after using the samples, it turned out that no. 16 was my perfect fit.
Lisa describes this shade as THE perfect olive tone. I nearly fell off my chair when I heard her say this! I had no idea I was "the perfect olive tone"!
That said, it totally explains why NONE of my foundations are quite right.
I've now bought a green mixer so I can "doctor" my other foundations - which means, I don't need to throw them away!!
I have dry/mature skin and this foundation is absolutely wonderful on me. It certainly doesn't emphasise any texture and the "dry down" isn't drying to my skin.

Sooo crazy! We tend to wear the same shades in most products, and shade 7 in Lisa’s formula was a p e r f e c t match for me. The neutral undertone is fantastic. Would suggest you try the next one up (5??) in the neutral undertone!!
5:36 my skin is the color of paperrr, so legit every foundation ends up too dark. Has anyone tried the lightest shade? does it oxidize a lot?

Hello, I got 2 blisters of Light set 1 and set 2 foundation to try. To my surprise - the shade 2.5 suited me the most.
It's yellow, but not as vibrant as anything I've tried so far.
Looking at the sample I thought: "what color is this, I will definitely not try it".
However, it is not on the website, what color and shade is it? What are the counterparts of this color lighter and darker? I didn't find this shade anywhere! No single swatch or so... Creepy!!

It does look beautiful on you! But if I remember it says to use like half a pump, but I think I counted 4 pumps when you applied. And for the price, that foundation is gonna go fast, I mean super quick. And you've got like almost flawless skin, someone who doesn't have optimal skin, that foundation gonna last a week! I know you love LE, but that's hella expensive.
The pumps are super small compared to a normal pump- that was done on purpose. So 4 pumps of this one is about 2 in a regular pump.

I have a light/medium skintone with a strong olive undertone, and i picked up shade #9 and #16, number 9 is a perfect winter shade, and number 16 is going to be amazing for this summer, it has the most intense oliveness to it and i have never seen that in a foundation shade before !
But i can finally say that i have found THE most perfect match to my skintone, i am trully happy !

I bought 16 and it’s just a hair too deep right now, so I am going to pick up 9 and add that in so that I can custom blend as skin gets lighter through winter/spring, then by mid-summer, the 16 will be perfect. I totally agree that these are the first TRUE olive toned foundations I’ve seen.
@@kg8487 yes that is exactly what I am going to do as well, mixing both when it start to get a little sunnier ! The 9 is a great olive winter shade, not to olive though! It is perfection 🤩

Hopefully this is easy enough to purchase in Australia. I love a nice satin finish that doesn't require setting. That said, I would also like to give the RCMA liquid foundation a go too as I do love the original formula and started using it long before it got popular and became a cult hit.

I'm glad I got to try the testers. I'm very olive, and shade 12 is the best shade match I've ever had. It's one of the rose-toned ones - which I'd have steered well clear of from the description alone. I have to use it extremely sparingly for it to not look like cake face, but it's gorgeous.
As a fellow olive-skinned person, thank you! I'll definitely try that foundation out. I usually have to shade mix more neutral + yellow foundations with a blue colorant because I'm on the cooler greyish side of olive.
Looked awful on me. Settled in my fine lines. So didn’t but the full size.
