Thinking “ I am enough” is a mindset. I big chopped when my daughter was bullied in a predominantly white and Asian elementary school, where she was the only black girl wearing her natural hair. She’s now 17, a fashionista and has only ever worn her natural hair. Through trial and error we have become experts at nurturing our hair. Our hair is thick, long with healthy intact edges. These days people tell us our hair is beautiful and then ask if it’s all our “real hair.” I get sooo excited when I see hipster black women wearing their natural hair.
Yep. Natural hair isn’t a monolith and I love seeing all “aesthetics” of black women wearing it out. Also to emphasize your point: you and your daughter are ENOUGH!
Why are we describing the soft life as just black women actively seeking out non-black men. Is a man life? Why do we associate softness to non blackness? Linguistics is so important to how we view gender roles, race etc there are MANY things i wanna say about this topic but like thats the main thing i really felt like was WEIRDD
well said 👏 it’s time black women shine ✨ and love themselves and each other. On the other hand if gender can change so can race, we need to get rid of the label boxes on applications and in our minds.
Thanks, Sakura! Happy you enjoyed the topic and appreciate you supporting meeee 🤗 I have these chitchats in real life so why not turn on the camera? 🤳🏾
Finally somebody said it! Glad you did! I think the hard wig, soft life is a conversation trend that's not based in the reality of the dating scene, who gets what man and why certain men date certain women.
I absolutely love the video it was good and I agree with it I feel like we are good more than good as we are and I feel like hard wig soft lie is not even a thing I think just it happens and people are saying it's an actual thing which I don't agree with I think that other races or ethnicities are seeing the beauty and are just reaching out because they know that they like what they see and they're willing to look past the wigs and say hey honey you don't have to wear that I like you with your natural hair which is something a lot of us don't get from our own race.
hey, i just wanted to say ive been really loving your content lately! it’s so healing and makes me feel less alone because i agree with everything you’re saying! i thought it was just me who felt uncomfortable with the “hard wig soft life” trend. i know most ppl are “joking” but it’s just never been that funny to me and rubbed me the wrong way. i didn’t know why and thought i was looking too much into it, but this video validated my feelings and thoughts. it’s messed up to claim that you can only level up if you look a certain way, and perpetuates the notion that all men hate natural hair on black women, which im starting to realize isn’t true. ive been natural for about 2 months now and it’s so freeing. before i went natural, i felt like i constantly had to have longer hair (typically a protective style) in order for men to notice me and to feel better about myself. but after doing a big chop of my 4c hair and wearing it out, i actually feel more confident and i think i get a lot more attention now in terms of ppl staring at me a lot more than usual (or maybe im just delusional LMAO) but yeah anyways thank you sm for this video, it’s so important to have these conversations! your videos help me a lot when im struggling with my short natural hair. while i usually like my hair, i still have bad days where i feel like it doesn’t suit my face or that it makes me look masculine. but these videos are reassuring and help me cope during these moments, which thankfully aren’t too often. i hope more ppl see this video and find your blessing of a channel 🫶🏾🫶🏾
Awwwwww 🥹🥹🥹 you’re the reason I started this channel bc one of the things I wrote down when I started my journey years ago is to inspire women who feel like their thoughts opinions and values aren’t represented. This comment did it for me! You’re so very welcome and I’m so proud of you. You’re very self aware to be feeling this way at 2 months of being natural. It took me a very long time to feel that way and I’m happy that my content is helping you on this journey. You’ll love it here! It only gets as better as our belief system gets. Appreciate you for watching and supporting, doll. 😉🫶🏾💗🌸
TV weather lady, here🙋🏾♀️. My viewers HATED my stiff wig but LOVED when I went natural, and it was mostly white people that liked the natural P.S. I Need to change my thumbnail
@@EvieAswiti ngl, a lot of those that are in positions of hiring are still looking for the skinny, tall, blonde look (no matter the race of the hiring manager) and being in this industry is an uphill battle for that reason. Once you see it, you'll start to notice that BW tend to be staffed on the weekend shows (that are not as highly rated as the weekdays). It's very difficult, and viewers are tired of seeing the same old thing. They want representation too. I am proof of that. It can be very discouraging, and it often makes me want to pivot to something else, but I know it's important for the next generation to see themselves in a positive light, and that's why I haven't quit yet.

I wear my natural hair to the gym and i love it! I don't care for nobody's opinion. I love me and thats all that matter!

another caveat that further solidifies ‘hard wig soft life’ being a dumb trend - you’re so right about linguistics!
I definitely find it as a way to come for black women who date outside the race. I peeped it when black men were laughing a lil too hard.
They were cackling tooo much

Did you hear about how Rachel Dolezal changed her name to Nkechi Diallo? 🤣
@@EvieAswiti wow, 😮 I guess all my bffs can now change their name to Becky, blonde, jewish and a direct descendant of elon musk.

Of course!! Lululemon
Wow! I never heard of this. I’m not sure if this is discussed with the younger generation. I’m so thankful my husband loves natural hair.
