Need more oval content! Bunch of slash and buggy based classes as well as cf chassis cars; foam and rubber tire options; mod and spec classes. Something for everyone
Glad to see you're back man! And also its good to see you just learning and having fun, most of us (me specifically) hope to just finish! Last is better than DNF! Keep up the good work!
hi Ryan, just rewatching your vids after the NN podcast, Thank you for sharing all your tips so openly, its no wonder why you are one of the friendly voices of our hobby💯
Ryan you helped me get into racing, i was hyped. Spent a lot of time, effort, and of course money on my equipment and cars. Had a lot of fun setting up. Have not been to a single race. Getting everything packed and traveling a min of an hour and half to a track i know nothing about killed the dream. I bash and fly drones maybe one day i will find a track closer to me. I think there is an oval half hour away and oval seems like the new hotness.
A little stiffer left rear spring, really play with the diff to get it smoother than anything you've ever run. Get it as free as possible. D/O is all about cross weights. You can also speed up and slowdown your DR, also you can give yourself a little lead in on corners if needed. If you're going to run that car more often I suggest a different shock. I've been watching some guys with the CW cars running the yokomo shocks(tighter tolerance) you can mess with the offset they make different thickness wheel hexes.
Seeing the car in the beginning it’s definitely setup for high bite lol no spring movement at all haha glad you’re doing this though! You will enjoy this!
I love your contents, been a fan for a few years now. Dirt oval and no prep drag is what they race in my area ( Fresno Ca). Happy to see your giving dirt oval a try! I’m looking forward to some more dirt oval content.
Hello, neg camber on the right, positive on the left. I like toe out in ft and in RR and toe in LR. Take out caster (stand it up on LF) and move R side tires out an d L in with spacers, CW has these and have caster blocks. The CustomWorks guys will help on a baseline. Have a Great time
I come from the big car dirt oval world and now race 8th scale and 10th offroad/oval. In general, if you fix the entry you help exit. What usually happens Is when the front grips mid corner it kinda "whips" the back end around. Once you get the entry down. Then the rear grip off you can work on.
I really like the professional vibes of the livery. At the beginning it would have helped to get to know where the car came from. It all was a bit sudden. But... interesting and fun !
Ive gotten some orders from guys down at NewRed but never seen the track. Thanks for doing a video, this was cool to see. The rocket5 offset chassis is always tight, takes a lot of rake in the chassis, small bore shocks and a lot of RR spring to get them to rotate. Good luck at the bowl, have fun and laugh a lot! I'd just do everything Kevin says, he's no dummy.
When I raced dirt oval more than 20 years ago. Rubber tires was a sin, especially rubber tires that had any type of pin on it. We ran foam tires only. Grooves were cut on a tire lathe and a dremel tool. I really miss racing though. Just don't have the time or money anymore.
Foam tire racing has about died out. Majority of the tracks around me that ran foam tire have either got rid of the classes due to lack of racers or do good to get enough to even run the class most weeks I think the closest track to me that still runs much foam tire is like 4hrs away vs 1hr to multiple rubber tire tracks. My local track used to have 6 foam tire classes and are now down to 2 and people are having to have friends run their spare cars just to get enough cars to run the classes
Hope to see more vids of you again. Loved the early vids and really pushed me into rc racing. I never got a tlr as my first car but got a 22x-4 and have used your advise on it and all my cars.
Oval cars are not too different to off-road. Ride height is really important. That track also looked like the full pins way not have been the way to go. Typically the more of a groove there is, the more you want the pins to be short/non existent. Outside of that, getting the electronics swapped around will help. They are also pretty responsive to roll center changes so getting the front roll center lower will help with corner entry quite a bit. Welcome to dirt oval. I tried to get away but it always sucks me back in.
This was a fun video. It was cool seeing you try something brand new to you! Makes me miss running dirt oval. Makes me want to build a dirt oval car just for giggles. 🤘🏻🏁
To get some more "turn in" if you notice your left front only had dirt on 2/3 of the tire. That means 1/3 is not touching the ground in the corner. Tip your tire in until full left crank on steering and all of your left tire is touching the ground. This has helped me in the past.
Looks like you had the wrong tires for that track. For Dirt Oval, though tracks and conditions will vary greatly, I was told and had great results with using Slicks with Papa Willy Traxion tire dressing (I use the red). I was getting such good grip, I had to let up on the throttle to not pop wheelies. If you're not familiar with the process, the slicks are sanded and tire dressing is applied. This is the configuration after sun down. Very limited tread is the go to if the sun is out. Since you're always turning left, get your collars on the right side, and make adjustments there as needed during practice time. Hope this helps. :)
Funny, i just did my first dirt oval race in a long time this past weekend with a mod sprint. Alot to learn. Good ole new red. Im from ohio, going there prob feb 2-3 or the next weekend. I go there like three times a year and usually run 4wd inside and sc truck. Was gonna take the sprint and try that. I also hit newberry with the stadium truck nitro, although ill miss their jan 27 race, ill still go practice, then i hit epic and rip the nitro buggy.
Rear steer looked minimal. For as tight as that track is you could run a bit more lr toe in. Loose off you can add rr toe out. Loose dirt is a little different than med-high bite.
Yeah as tight as he was on entry you would think they would have toed the left rear in especially when they did the track side adjustments before the first round after it didn’t turn at all on the warmup laps. only reason I can think that didn’t was maybe they didn’t trust him to enter on throttle enough to take advantage of it
Good luck man! I'm not saying anything about set up, you already reached out to right right people, base off of Max's setup and roll. It's going to be a new car
Not sure where you get your imagination from but spec racing actually costs more and prevents good racing. When all cars are running the same limited speed there isn't much passing.
ahh man, you would of Loved Ronnies old banked dirt oval back in the day at his old shop. That was a blast!! A lot of LOOOOOOONG nights but , that comes with the territory 😂😂 Still so much fun!! MIss it!
The front-end push is the hardest to get right... if you overload the tire it will give to a similar push as if you underload the tire. if I was to guess your front shocks are laydown too much - at speed (even with the battery to the right side) the forces are going to the wall and not down to the tire.
Put a b 6 diff in it first thing … definitely need more forward drive move left rear hub forward… don’t change springs … if it won’t turn in lower camber links on inside one hole
Just built a B74.2, took it out to track my first time. I am completely newbie and I suck, but I didn't break anything. Sensor wire was giving me issues, bought a new one, was running fine and it came off and the thing kept running. WTF is that about? Steering still feels way too stiff. Might have to just disassemble the entire steering assembly to figure out wtf is binding.
Track down Mr will Brinton I'm sure he can help give some pointers at the chilie bowl. He's a team associated driver and all around awesome hobby ambassador
great to see you back! i love this channel and i've watched so many of your setup and tips videos but man this oval racing is just laughable, i can't imagine the rush of all the racing you've done just to go around in a circle. you are just hoping the other guy screws up because there are so few variations to what can happen in an oval race. either way i'll watch the video though, so who cares what i think!
Dirt oval is where it’s at, man. Mudboss and bandit sprint are the biggest bang for the $.
Nothing worse than breaking a car halfway through a race.
Great to see the welcoming vibe.
One of the best things in RC for 'newbies".
Yes!!! Been a rc oval racer for ten years and rc dirt oval racing needs more recognition. This is AWSOME!!!!
I recently started dirt and carpet oval after many years racing off road. I love it. It’s such blast!! Welcome!
Glad to see you trying the Dirt Oval thing. It's such a blast. Keep it up!!!! Remember " haul ass- turn left " lol
Welcome to the Whitz squad man! Stoked to see you repping the brand!

Whitz is awesome love that they are supporting oval racing! And TMez!!

Sure! A week after I just bought $200 worth of stuff we get a discount code like this. Not even a sticker with my order. Lol. Glad to see you back!!
I love your contents, been a fan for a few years now. Dirt oval and no prep drag is what they race in my area ( Fresno Ca). Happy to see your giving dirt oval a try! I’m looking forward to some more dirt oval content.
peeping that HB buggy box in the right corner
I missed your videos. I'm glad to see another.
Great to see you back in 2024! I really enjoyed the oval racing.
I use weight transfer to add and decrease front and rear grip on dirt oval.
Hello, neg camber on the right, positive on the left. I like toe out in ft and in RR and toe in LR. Take out caster (stand it up on LF) and move R side tires out an d L in with spacers, CW has these and have caster blocks. The CustomWorks guys will help on a baseline. Have a Great time
I’ve always wanted to try dirt oval. Looks like so much fun
Glad to see you again Ryan! Long time no see..
Wish you all of luck and especially fun for 2024!

Oval is a blast, stay wide on the straight and dive/roll into the corner is what i was taught at my local track.
Glad you’re back Ryan! Missed your vids, greetings from the UK!

great to see you back ! good luck at Chili bowl ! I currently run both the rocket 4 and outlaw 4 custom works cars ! you are going to love it !

Awesome that you ran RCCB and spoke with Ryan. Be great if you would come on the show one day!
Whoa ryan harris video!!! Heck yea!! Keep em comin ole top!

Heck yeah! Someone got the circle bug lol!!! Like you always say: it's all about the trigger time 👍
Awesome video. Very interesting. Cool seeing Mr exalt!
So glad your finally getting into dirt oval, if you want to learn more about tuning I would go to a high bite track and ask lots of questions!
Good to see that your back
My new years wish is finally here! New Video!

Let's goooo, he's back! Glad to see you back man
Good luck man! I'm not saying anything about set up, you already reached out to right right people, base off of Max's setup and roll. It's going to be a new car
You did a great job on your car looks great 👍 when you get it dialed in im sure that you will not be disappointed 👍keep up the great work...👍😁⚡🏁🇺🇲
Awesome Bro! Good luck with the new car!
WELCOME BACK!!!
The best thing to happen to racing recently are the spec classes like Bomber and Salvas Mudboss. Low cost and better competition. Win-win.
Not sure where you get your imagination from but spec racing actually costs more and prevents good racing. When all cars are running the same limited speed there isn't much passing.
Enjoy the adventure man seems like a hell of a opportunity.
This is awesome. I wish I was able to get up to the Chili bowl to watch.
i was pretty excited for ur 2024 program announcments over on facebook
done great at the chili bowl, you going back this year
ahh man, you would of Loved Ronnies old banked dirt oval back in the day at his old shop. That was a blast!! A lot of LOOOOOOONG nights but , that comes with the territory 😂😂 Still so much fun!! MIss it!
Swap the electronics and try a softer spring package
Nice job dude. Keep it up.
Don’t think I saw this one coming but dirt oval is a blast now you gotta build a sprint car
Many great times running dirt oval at Ronnie Setsers SS Raceway nitro and electric
Happy New Year!
Lets get you on the carpet.. hit the snowbirds man
Alway a good day when a new Harris video drops 🤙👍👍
The return of the people's champ! Keep on keeping on.
The front-end push is the hardest to get right... if you overload the tire it will give to a similar push as if you underload the tire.

Happy new year …..!! 🎊
Thank you for the video! Awesome work. 👍
Dirt oval!!! Where’s all the promoto racing content!!! And here I thought you were a dirt bike guy! Haha.
Can we please get some stadium truck content and setups much appreciated
Dude, u got hooked up with a really nice ride...
Have fun at the chili bowl man.
where's the Chili bowl video!? Would love to see/hear your experience there.
Hey Ryan do you think you could go back to ss hobies in a few weeks I would like meet you
Put a b 6 diff in it first thing … definitely need more forward drive move left rear hub forward… don’t change springs … if it won’t turn in lower camber links on inside one hole
Can we get the after chili bowl car setup?
I used to race dirt oval you want the right rear to dig in the corners
He definitely needs to work on getting used to putting rear steer in and turning the car with the throttle more
Just built a B74.2, took it out to track my first time.
The chili bowl is about an hour from me I'm gonna try to make it to check it out
I am certain you will be oval hooked by the time you get to the Chilli Bowl. Have fun.
What koyosho springs go the t6.4 stock shocks
Where did you get that car body?
Track down Mr will Brinton I'm sure he can help give some pointers at the chilie bowl. He's a team associated driver and all around awesome hobby ambassador
Is there a controlled tire at the chilli bowl?
Yes, holeshots
Great video
Now, where did I put my Custom Works Dominator… time for resurrection 😄
Hey thats newred hobbies. My local track!
What chassis is that thanks
Stick with R/C, it's safer!
great to see you back! i love this channel and i've watched so many of your setup and tips videos but man this oval racing is just laughable, i can't imagine the rush of all the racing you've done just to go around in a circle. you are just hoping the other guy screws up because there are so few variations to what can happen in an oval race. either way i'll watch the video though, so who cares what i think!
You’d be surprised how much is involved with oval i’ve done both and without a doubt prefer oval
Oh hell yeah
I would take that read camber link piece off. It throws the whole car off.
Put the code to use! Thank you. I will be running the whitz 7.0 motor for motorama
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool dude
Dirt Oval will get u hook , going chili bowl will put u over lol
