The first RAW which I already uploaded to my channel was filmed 2 days after this video here. This shows me on the Triumph making my first moves through some decent corners. I had around 20 minutes of corners before making this RAW here. So basically you can watch me getting to know the bike. Just like the title says ;)
---
My opinion about the bike (same text as below the first upload):
Crap bikes don't exist any more. All new models are basically good machines. So is the 2018 Triumph Speed Triple RS. It's why I won't go into detail explaining all the things which work well. I rather have a look at the bike's purpose and see if it fulfills all the needs for that purpose.
This bike can be considered as the original Powernaked/Streetfighter. Whatever you want to call it. So I'm expecting a well performing bike when ridden somewhat fast with an upright and more or less comfortable seating position.
The Speed Triple RS indeed delivered just that. The Öhlins suspension works flawlessly. Together with the bike's geometry it offers such a brilliant compromise between stiffness/stability and agility. She isn't the most agile bike in the world but you don't feel that in a negative way. Instead she gives you tons of confidence and very decent feedback from the front. I felt 100% confident and safe with the pace you can see in the video.
I didn't ride her for more than 300km per day but during those I had zero issues with my 184cm of height. I really enjoyed the bike's seating position.
This bike is called "Speed" and speed is what it was made for. I'm pretty sure that even on the racetrack you would get pretty far with it.
I only noticed two negative aspects of which only one was also influencing the bike's purpose which is fast riding. It took me a long time to notice but during my 3 day test ride the clutch lever got closer and closer to the left grip which in the end resulted in a slipping clutch actually. I thought something about the ride by wire system was broken when the bike started to sound weird under acceleration until I noticed it actually was the clutch which produced the fault. With a simple push the issue was fixed but it's ridiculous to have this sort of thing happen on an expensive premium bike.
The second thing I didn't like which did not affect the spirited riding was its very high idle RPM level. Which results in the bike accelerating on its own as soon as it hits a certain rev range. This of course is the case on many big bikes but the Triumph's engine runs so smoothly that it doesn't start rattling in the low RPMs to basically warn you. Instead it suddenly starts to pull. Can be a bit of a nasty surprise at first when for instance you're approaching your very first red light without being ready to brake any second.
Overall I absolutely loved my time with this bike. If I was rich I'd get one without hesitating. Although I think the more agile Street Triple RS is even more fun on the road.

disclaimer: I used HTML5 to hack the ECU and manipulate the bikes speedometer in order for it to show random numbers. Sometimes my hack didn't work and I had to censor the speedo in order not to show my terribly slow and embarrassing velocity.

That sweet sound of a Triumph Triple.
I think the older ones sounded a bit better. Still a very sexy sound.
3 Zylinder sounds very nice. But its too fast for me. I think i lost my licence in the same year, i drove with anyone tripple🙄
Who's watching this is in 2020 while sitting at home during the global quarantine! Video makes me want to ride, oh well!
thanks & sorry ;)
Josh Araujo why don’t you go for a ride ? You’d be all alone anyways, and probably you are no forbidden to go out.
Sideshow 44 So the cops are a problem ? Didn’t know about that, but about the emergency services, its hard to believe that someone would not go out for a ride because of that. For me its kinda crazy to think like that.
I went 'shopping for essentials' on my bike....
This ^
These three cylinders become so completely different vocally past a certain rev limit and that's pure pure pure symphony.
thanks mate
daaamn, that triumph accelaration and throttle response are out of this world :O
trrue
Riding like this for the whole of a season be prepared to go through 5 back tires!!! trust me I know lol
Really love your riding style. Not slow and no big risks taken anywhere. Great job!
thanks a lot man
Wow! This was like a 10 minute meditation session for me...
nice!
Hello! Can you tell me the name of the Editor you use pls? 👍
Sound so clear you can hear the gears whining. First time i heard so detailed sound of this bike. Good job man 👍
thanks dude
@The Underground Man It's not it's gear whine, typical of sequential gearboxes like the ones on most motorbikes.
@@alicebate6384 That's not true, I have a 1050 and it makes the same whine in neutral with the clutch pulled in, this means that the gearbox won't even be spinning, the whine seems to be a trait of these triples and their valve train assembly.
PLS TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF MIC YOU ARE USING.
@@sidecarbod1441 The only thing is it makes the sound proportional to gear load and wheel speed, not engine speed. Which points everything I know towards gearbox. I'm sure there is definitely some valvetrain noise too, but I think we could be hearing two sounds.
Something about the "un-stressed" beautiful sound of that triple that makes it deceptively fast. This video reminded me of what it felt like to ride a 2011 street triple 675 i had years ago. Super video and sound my friend👍
The scenary with the bike is just perfect, god it makes me envious. such a gorgeous place to ride through.
It was!
Both of your Triumph Speed videos are fantastic. Thank you.
thank YOU for commenting!
Your rev matching is always a pleasure to listen to!
I try my best, thanks man
Seriously considering a speed triple and videos like this encourage me!
dooo iiiiiitt
0:31 that glorious marvelous noise. 😍
It's out of his world. Man, how do you get off that bike is beyond me..
money mainly :D
That sweet thunder of the triple. Ahh. Amazing.
53K subscribers and 46K views! That's a really good ratio!! About 90% of subscribers!
hehehe your comment just made me check the Analytics. Around 20% of the views came from subscribers ;)
@@Schaaf Wait, does you tube show u who viewed to video, or like how many people viewed the vid per day?
Awesome vid! Sound was captured beautifully
thank you Jorge!
Your videos and that view is just wow....outstanding. I feel like i am riding through those roads.
Thanks Abdul
Quality content. The Force is strong in this one.
thanks
That's was a very nice ride! 👌 The Speed Triple is videogenic, it adds a little something special to your raw onboard videos 😍 Btw, just in case you haven't noticed, AdjrianNickelodeon talked about you in his last video 😉
I haven't! Thanks for letting me know Kiddo!!
Lifes a bit lame at the moment.. can't escape on my bike because of financial reasons. But at least I've got these Striple videos. Thanks Schaaf! This is my happy place right now 👍
glad I can help!
This was fun to watch/hear! Thanks for posting.
welcome!
Captured the sound and feeling of the S3 really well😎👍🏻
thanks!!
This sound is unbelievable ! Great video
thanks Paul!
Agreed on the Street Triple comment. I got the Street Triple RS last year and also tested the Speed Triple. In the end I felt the Streety to be even more agile and balanced. And for my small height (172cm) it was perfect because it doesn't weigh as much. Still had to get a lowering of 20mm to make it really feel comfy for me :D
yea the streety truly rocks
As always great vid and superb sound
thanks Robert!
Ii love the Street Triple Rs. I'm seriously thinking of getting one. Current bike R1 2019. Amazing vid as always Schaaf. Dream roads. Love Austria ❤️
it's a Speed Triple though
Those beautiful sweeping corners are just asking to be ridden hard. Fantastic video once again and excellent sound quality as well, never heard the triple so clearly as in this video.
thanks Kevin!!
you are such an insane rider with so much skill, love the bike and your vids keep it up
I don't see what is insane about my riding?
@@Schaaf It was a compliment.
What a fantastic ride with an awesome bike on beautiful roads !
This sound is f*** perfect !
Thanks
I can watch this all day 😍
Nice riding as always my friend !
merci :)
Incredible! Thank you for sharing this
welcome
Love my 2017 STR. Looking at the 2021 versions. The sound is enough to inspire.
cool!
You make me passionate about biking everyday!
Good!
Nice video! I enjoy your riding style...I tend ride the same way. Quick enough in the turns to have fun, while staying safe and giving that extra room through the corners for the unexpected...nice safe passing too. Stay safe and keep enjoying those beautiful roads so that I can keep watching your channel on a 3rd monitor while I work haha.
Thanks a lot! Speed safe!
Amazing bike, really beautiful road! The sound quality is incredible as always, thank you.
thanks for the comment Felipe!
Love the Speed Triple and those roads. Plenty powerful enough for the road, who needs 200 bhp, looked great fun.
who needs 150 actually ;)
@@Schaaf tried one today. Who needs 115?
Jedi of motorcycling. DANKE.
Bitte ;)
I like how you blurred out the speedo at 1:46
That's faster than I'd ever go in to that corner sober anyway. Props.
Thanks
Hey love these type of RAW video !
A new subscriber :D
I read the description and I didn't saw what intensity of ND filter you use ? The 16 ?
Thank you :D
ND8 in this video! Welcome!
Love this guy...no shit talking no other thing just pure riding and only riding
Thank you!
Great bike + amazing roads = unlimited joy :D
Thanks
Love your vids quality... And your riding of course 👌🏻👌🏻
thanks Mark!
Man I love your videos.
thanks for letting me know!!
You’re a very good rider! Also the RS sounds fantastic!
Thanks man
Lovely video. Keep up the good work.
thanks man
Do you know what? I hated and I mean HATED the sound of other triples, but this one just sounds fucking amazing. What really gets me is that beautiful transmission whir too.
And the color scheme is right on point.
glad you liked it ;)
Just the audio itself is next level!!
thanks
Your videos have such great sound and no talking all throughout
Thanks
Exellent post! Now I want one...
thanks!
Good driving, great road, awesome bike !
Thanks
Got my Triple booked in for a service and MOT next week. Hurry up summer!
yes please!
I ve had absolutely the same opinion after driving this bike! Excellent!
Thats why i ll need ur "magics" about a bmw k1300r! Willing to buy a good used one on the next few months☺ so....hope we could see u playing with one!
Greetings from Greece my friend!
Keep up ur good work, remember the limits and 120% enjoy it!
thanks Dimitris!
Oh, this was such a perfect video.
thanks
Biker's heaven !! Austria added to the bucket list. Check !!!
good idea!
Wow... this is the kind of music i love♥
thanks
What an awesome play ground!! I think I need to come Austria for a visit.. I enjoyed that a lot, thank you for posting. I love the disclaimer too! hahaha!!!
do it!! Thanks!
Nice riding - quick, safe and respectful 👍
Thanks ✌️
Excellent, is that standard exhaust note?
Enjoyed this video. The bike sounds amazing.
Speaking of quickshifters, how much do you now miss them if a bike doesn't have one?
I'm on my very first bike to have one (an F900R) and rather shocked myself how much I like that feature.
Of course QS is nice but in the end I can always appreciate having to do it myself because that's way more challenging
solid crisp video & sound!!! ...
Thanks
This was a gnarly video!!
thanks!
I’m thinking about one of these as my next bike, it runs great!
good choice!
@@Schaaf I was thinking of getting this or the MT-10? Still undecided
Man what an awesome ride
thanks
I'm test riding one of these this weekend!
Have fun!
Great tires and in general great vid.
thanks!
Awesome bike, awesome ride. ❤️
thanks man
Blasted my mt 10 around the harz mountains in Germany, watching your vid makes me wonder if the speed triple is the future for me. Also on another trip rode my 1090 mv brutale but found it not as good as the mt 10. Test ride needed I think on a speed triple. Loverly sound. Looks like you had a great ride. Ride safe.
thanks John!
What a nice road. So beautiful yet so empty. Where can I find this one, Schaaf? Cheers
My favorite video of your channel (with the tuono). Are you planning to make another one with the speed triple rs?
Unfortunately not since I don't have access
Nothing like the cadence of a triple
A lot to learn Schaaf
until the day I die
@@Schaaf oh come on don't be pessimistic
Man the ride. God I love Triumph.
thanks
The triple sounds beautiful
yup!
Ok. I was gonna comment about the shifts. But you've mentioned that on the video. Is it equipped with Quickshifter + autoblipper ?
It's not just the whistle missing, it's the pop and spit on the overrun. Half the fun of a triumph triple is decelerating! Still sounds awesome great video.
true that
A proper sports bike, road and rider ✌️
Thanks
Where in the world is this filmed ? Thanks
I love triumph.. from India btw great video my dear friend..
Thanks
Most excellent HTML 5 hack of the ECU. Your numbers were much more random then when I tried.
thanks for noticing
You do just fine without a quickshifter. You ride the way I learned to do it.
It's just more fun with QS ;)
oh gott, diese Strassen, dieser Sound, diese Kurven, GEIL! Schaaf + Triumph Triple + Austria
Jau!
Heyy really love your riding style and ofcourse the sweet melody of the inline 3🤤, which are you riding exactly? The scenery is just amazing😍
thanks. It's a road in Styria
cant tell by the video was it the back tire skipping on the downshifts or just being hard on the brakes in a couple corners??
Sweet sweet triple!
Hey Schaaf - did you ever try to learn clutchless downshifting without a blipper?
yes I sometimes need that when I'm handling the selfiestick on the bike. But since I only get it right 80% of the time I prefer not to do it to save the gearbox.
Love those downshift ❤️
thanks!
Whats your camera set up? And how do you reduce the windnoise?
I love my '19 RS. This bike gets you from 0 to "Oh shit!" real quick! I love it!
true that!
Why would someone even dislike this vid? It is just so damn good!! 🔥
thanks man
@@Schaaf no big deal. Just saying facts. I don't understand what made them dislike it.
Its my dream bike,Working hard for it, gonna earn it one day🤗
Would love to see RAW footage of a Daytona 675R
well, the video with the R would not be any different to the ones I already made with the standard one
With the headphones, just close your eyes. It's so relaxing. My kinda ASMR.
thanks
Awesome sounds 😍😍😍
thanks!
Love the sound Man😊😊😊
thanks
What a Biker ,and what a Bike , you handle it like a pro
thanks
Wonderful bike
yes!
What a beautiful place!
true!
Nice sound dude bravo good choice
Thanks
Awesome 👏🏻 Video! Super drive! If you don’t mind please let me know which bike do you own and many thanks for this video
