Really cool to see someone else do this. I just finished my one car garage studio. It’s really challenging and small. Looking forward to seeing what you produce in your space.
Hey Scott! Great content so far man! I would love to know more about some budget friendly lighting setups that I could use to shoot content in a basement or garage gym type space. Easy to throw up and take down as needed.
Honestly, I don't. lmao. It's just a paper backdrop that doesn't cost too much so I just want until the dirt is visible enough in the shot then I cut it off and roll out more, or add a new roll. Nothing revolutionary. Sometimes I'll wear shoe covers to help reduce the amount of times I need to change it.
Scott, I enjoyed your video, mainly because converting my garage has come to mind before. However, I also live in Texas (Conroe area), so a consideration about using the garage is heat and humidity. I did not see any devices in your build to control the temperature, and I can imagine bringing a client into the garage studio in typical Texas weather would be challenging. Even if shooting after the Sun has set can be uncomfortable. How do you deal with cooling your garage, or for that matter, heat, should the temperature ever dip below that found on the surface of the Sun? Larry from Texas
Hey Larry, to be completely frank - I just kind of deal with it. It’s a bit rough in the hot summer days for sure. I don’t bring many clients here, it’s predominantly used for my businesses.
Thanks for watching! If you have any questions or if I can help you become a better creative, hit me up on Instagram or Twitter!

Dang, we are trying to ball on a budget - gonna have to save for some of these lights. But this was VERY VERY informative. Thank you!
Nice office set up. What lights did you use?
If you're referring to backlights, they are philips hue
Looks incredible 🔥
Keeep it coming 🙌🏽
Will do! Just finished up the holidays with family and now we're gearing back up!
How do you keep the backdrop on the floor clean? Do you make sure people always clean their shoes before walking on it? Love the setup!

Banger !!!!!
My man. Thank you!
Great video
My man🤜🏼🤛🏼
What do you do for weather conditions ?
Especially for the heat! I figured out what to do for the winter but for the summer, the cheapest option to make it cool!
Great video! Super informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Does your garage have an AC vent? I live in Austin too and it can get hot in the garage 😂
It doesn’t, but man that would be amazing. I know the feeling of that heat all to well. 😂
I was hoping to see a ceiling rail set up with all the lighting suspended from pant
How do you keep the garage cool and warm ?
My new house has an ac unit in the garage. But this garage had nothing so we melted in the summer.
@@scottsimnz u mind sharing how it is installed? Cost? Etc..
I dig the back ground.
Likewise. I'll probably continue to toy with it until we find the sweet spot.
The Savage Backdrop paper ? Size 86 Inches Wide x 36 Feet Long, is that what you use ?
Great vid. I know i'm late to the party. Q what software you used to record your iPad sketching?
Just the notes app then used a blend mode in premiere pro to mask out the black background.
Is this good for a makeup artist portraits
It’s great for a lot of things that would benefit from lighting and color control.
The Rode arm came like that or did you configure it
Just opened the box and plugged her in. 👌🏼
@@scottsimnz awesome bro
I see this was from a year ago. It looks good. Is it profitable and are a lot of freelance photographers using the space?
I don’t rent this out. It’s my space I use for my businesses.
