Nice! So it gives the 6000xp the same ability as the Victron Power-Assist. That's a great feature for mobile usage as well as people with small gennys.

Will this only work if you are off grid? I'm trying to figure out if this can work when the grid is connected and it would seem like the answer is no. Still would be a great solution for me here in Houston when the grid goes down. In that event, if I follow the video...I could hook up my 15,000 watt generator...set the 18k to say...pull 12,000 watts...and then when my load exceeds 12,000 it would pull from PV and batteries. Am I thinking about this the right way?

@@theadventuresofarenaissancman the reason I ask is that an eg4 tech in one of the forums says the total AC output remains the same for either unit...just changes the mix...i.e. from a generator.
i was hoping it would increase the capacity on the AC bus side so I can pull larger loads (in a grid down situation where normally the grid bypass would be the way to handle larger loads).

The adventures of a renaissance man where can you find the firm ware and info on the firmware for the 6000XP? I did the update yesterday that you show here via the web monitoring site and when I selected the ? For more info it takes me to an EG4 site with firmware info for the 18K. I just called sig sol and asked them this question and they said they don’t know of anyway to access that info like I can find for the 18K. Do you have info on that? Thanks

Perfect thank you! Just logged out on my iPhone and found it. That’s exactly toy what I was looking for. I don’t understand why that’s not available via the online monitoring software. At least I can’t find it. And I don’t understand how SS support has no clue where to find it. It seems that the end users are Guinea pigs for this stuff more so than not. There’s def a steep learning curve with this and the power pro batts I just picked up.

It seems to me that you could use a smaller generator with this option now to keep it in a the most efficient range of operation. Maybe negating the large generator recommendation in the manual currently?
Also what did you use to tame the green laser of death? I tried scotch tape and that didn’t help mine.
I’ll have to try and figure out how to do the firmware update now.

I cant get my generator a 5.5 kw generac to connect to the inverter. Just show the voltage and hz on the screen of the inverter and clicks on once every five mins for 4 seconds.
The 18k just does not like it.
Gen has a floating neutral and floating neutral wired on the inverter and bonded neutral in the main power panel.
Cycles hz and voltage is in spec. Perimeters are set wide enough for the cycles and volt fluctuation.
My head is going crazy on this.

I called Signature Solar they told me this wasn't possible, but the person I talked to wasn't really sure they gave me the number to EG4. I called them they said absolutely no way to do this. Either had to use batteries, or completely bypass the inverter from the grid/generator to supply the load. Yet you showed how this works I even posted on DIY solar forum no one there knew either. I guess these inverters are so new and the ones using them are only using completely off grid that they don't know. Can you also get power from solar and do the same thing? This is what I want to do is supply the load with as much renewable energy as I can pull the least amount of power from the grid. When I talked to EG4 they said a new inverter was going to be released this summer which I would want to wait for not get the 6000xp. I have been holding off on buying one for now I still have lot of work to do get panels up and wiring.

@@theadventuresofarenaissancman True but would think EG4 tech support would know about a firmware that was coming out in a week after I called. I just have to buy one and figure it out for myself. I want something that I can use solar and battery power only add enough gird to make up the difference when the higher loads pull power.

@Mike-01234 initially, I would say not possible on the 6000xp, but this might be possible.
What you are describing is a grid interactive/ grid tied hybrid inverter like the 18Kpv.
3rd, I've heard rumors of another EG4 inverter, but the rumors said fall 2023 was the release date. That never happened, and now you were told Summer 2024. I guess we just need to wait for Summer.

I _think_ this is the feature I've been wanting for a long time. Can you tell me if I understand correctly? I'm off-grid with a PV array and a backup generator. Say it's been cloudy and my batteries are low. I just want the generator to turn on and help top off the batteries. So, typically I'd need a generator greater than 6000w, so that when it kicks on, it can supply the maximum load that the 6000XP would, then any extra would charge the battery. But with this new feature, the 6000XP will continue to draw from the PV array and battery to supply the loads, and the generator would just contribute to the overall available power. As long as the sum of PV + battery + generator wattage is greater than 6000w, I can still max out the loads, plus charge the battery with any extra power over 6000w. Is that all accurate? Or is what I really need an EG4 Chargeverter?

sure would be nice if they supported 120 volt input. That would allow me and others who own EV's with Vehicle to Load capability, like my Ioniq5, to use the large car battery as a backup. Right now only the Victron can do this but it is limited to outputting 120 volts. The EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra can take 120 volt input while outputting 240 volts
