Just FYI when updating the firmware only two of the three files will update UNLESS you have the EPS OUTPUT switch on for your target unit as well as the POWER switch of course. Signature Solar tech guy clued me in to this detail. I was trying to update all the batteries and inverters before starting them.

Adding to my comment below. The last of the three firmware updates, with MPPT in the label, is the one that would not update. What I experienced was the "Rate of Progress" hangs at 0% and eventually it times out as a "Failure". When I turned on the EPS switch that last update went through without a hitch. I was trying to update the battery and the inverter firmware before turning on a new system with six batteries and three stacked inverters.
how do you update the firmware on the eg4
is there a way to update without creating an account or connecting to their remote monitoring service? i have no interest in either.

First update shows 100% successful
Can’t complete further updates and I get msg “device busy”
Sometimes it stays like that for a while and then clears or continues. Be sure you have PV connected and son on the panels. I had issues trying to do it at night and then as soon as the sun came up, the updates worked great.
I get a FAILURE and nothing happens

Just did this on three 6000ex models... it actually worked and all three are running together wonderfully. Just wish self consumption was less but the LF inverters are great for running the motor and compressor loads all day long, and its a lot of stuff. Daily consumption is 120kwh
120kWh is quite a bit. Is all of that coming from solar? Glad to hear they're working well! It's a solid platform when they talk to each other correctly. :)

my 6000xp was updated 4 times and the firmware never updated.
also signature solar pre-sales support got everything completely wrong with my 6000xp. my unit has never been able to make power.
@@jkohutiak It sounds like you have 3 issues going on. (1) Firmware won't update. (2) Pre-sales Support got it wrong. (3) The unit doesn't make power. Is that right? Have you contacted them to get it replaced?
I sheepishly selected the Slave inverter of the two XP's I have wanting to update it first while in service (only about 600 watts at the time. It started the update and switched over to standby AC mode til it was done, then updated the Master and itself 3 times til firmware showed 180 BOB on both. I freaked, thinking it was stuck in a never ending boot loop, however, all is well. Welcome 180 BOB!!
I came here to determine if I could update the firmware while the inverter was powering my office and other loads. Looks like I should schedule a time when my critical loads aren't needed just in case the inverter has to restart. Thanks for the video, doing my first update and was a little intimidated. This doesn't look as hard as the UI made it out to be.

Why do these EG4 inverters require so many firmware updates?
In what way? The 3 separate files or the upgraded versions?
Can I update if the inverter is powering my house wifi router?
That should be ok. The way I understand it, the inverter downloads the file and then installs it. Once it's installed, it can boot up the router again and look online for another file. So, unless something goes wrong with the update process, you should be good.
Your were looking at the change log for 18kpv not for the 6000xp.

You need to change the inverter model under the Firmware Change Log
