The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian.
Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that brought Celine Dion to WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career.
When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics.
Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels).
One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:
- Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it),
- Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her),

Angie, her Concerts around the turn of the Century were epic. She is actually becoming more popular in today's world because of the internet than she ever was. What a talent. Dimash was so impressed with her emotional deliveries when he was a young man and they became friends and he learned how to express emotion in his works. They are still close today.
He covered several of her songs and she even wrote a song for him with Igor: Your Love.

As many have, I experienced that loss. I also experienced the loss of a child and I can tell you losing my child was the only pain that was worse. I have listened to Lara sing that song many, many times and it still hits me like the first time. She is my absolute favorite female singer of all time.
