The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian. Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer. He co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero. And he was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that increased Celine Dion WW fame. He also had produced a song for Dimash among others. When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics. Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels). I can listen to this song a million times and it feels like I am listening to it for the first time every time. The first line grabs your attention, your heart, instantly. It is written about a situation many of us have unfortunately been in and is very relatable. Lara has said she wrote this song while she lay crying on her bathroom floor. It touches all parts of her artistry. It's incapsulated in every aspect of delivery, tone of voice, tempo, choice of lyrics, scales of music, intentions of the story, body language and even, the important ingredient to had surprise, wich is essential to keep the listener on its toes until the end.
