Yo everyone! Hope you enjoy this video 👍 A couple of things to note, New Zealand borders are still closed at the moment of this comment's timestamp due to the global pandemic of course although a trans Tasman bubble between Australia and NZ are in discussions. Currently only residents and citizens can return to NZ and a mandatory 14 day quarantine is required. Oh and another big city in the North Island for anyone interested is Hamilton 👍 Let us know which tip you found the most helpful 😁 Stay safe and take care 👋
Peter! Every time I feel nostalgic, missing NZ, I stumble onto a video of yours! This is little Josh Patton btw. Hope you’re all staying healthy and happy!
Yooooo dude recognize your user name hahaha. Are you guys coming to visit NZ again anytime soon?
I wish! One day I’ll for sure visit. Family and work keeps me pretty busy. Aaron would be more likely than me to visit. It’s awesome to see your videos and think back on the good times. If you’re ever creating a video on Kiwis surviving an OE, stop by Ohio and say hi!...after Covid obviously.
Nice man are you married with kids now? Ok got it if we're in America will hit you guys up for a visit. Btw please say hi to Deborah for me, it's been ages.
@@PeterandYen Definitely will tell my mum. Yeah, married, got two kids. Awesome to see your family growing too. Pretty soon we'll be old farts. You know, my mum sent me a list of places to get good meat pies in the US. It got me thinking...Kiwis around the world might like to know how to get quality NZ-style goods while they're away from home. For example, it's impossible to find Allen's licorice. Might be a good video for you ;)
Omg that smooth shirt transition had me shook 😂
Yusss glad you enjoyed it 👏
New Zealand!! Let us in!!
No, no no don't let us in, you guys are doing phenomenal while the rest of the world (not every country, but almost) is a mess!
Protect yourself!
We have no idea when borders will open but with talks of a trans Tasman bubble I think our first visitors will be from our Aussie neighbours. Hoping that the rest of the world can get things under control soon 🤞 Stay safe you guys! ❤️
@@PeterandYen hopefully. We will see
Your reputation will never be the same..teethy has jumped ship after making you poorer..yay , how stylish she was
Clean and green! Love that!
🍀 the kiwi way
Season is important to keep in mind for sure, especially cause we are backwards
Yea! It might be surprising but a lot of people get caught out by that and don't come prepared 😅
Haha GOOD MORNING - its winter :p
@@nickandhelmi freaking 36 degrees here hahah
Anu Naki same im over winter
@Anu Naki we prefer the cold weather and it gets hot in Istanbul 🥵🥵🥵
Hahahaha that opening!!!
😂😂 it took a couple of tries 💕💕
Very cool. In the brainstorming phase of our first trek over there ~January 2023!
Thanks Peter and Yen. Excellent advice. I have been to New Zealand twice and very much enjoyed it - however it does need planning to make the best use of time.
Thanks👍...you guys are seamlessly easy to watch..positive,upbeat,informative,friendly,aware,interesting......I could go on....
You're too kind Keith thank you appreciate the message ❤
You guys did an amazing job with this guide! So many helpful tips and great information here. That local knowledge 🙌🙌
Thanks heaps! We tried to think of what catches people out most or may just not think much about plus balancing it with show casing bits of NZ so am glad you found it helpful and informative 😁❤️👍
Omg that transition to downstairs is epic!!! So cool, and cheesy at the same time!! Omg the picturesque view of New Zealand!! 😍😍😍
Hahaha it is cheesy right 😆 we couldn't quite get it right but was good enough 😂👍
Haha I could’ve even used some of these tips for when I visited Australia! Like the seasonal months, no tipping, driving on the left side, etc hehe
😁👍 even some of the slang is quite similar to New Zealand.
haha the energy you have in each video is amazing! Man.. New Zealand has some seriously beautiful spots, thanks for the tips!
Thanks guys! Appreciate it 😁 NZ is beautiful 💕🇳🇿
Great video! Esp loved that you included tip 4! 🌿
Cheers Jess! 😁 Definitely had to include that one 👍🍃🌳💚
Very helpful and informative video. Watching from Dallas. Thank y'all! ☺
No worries glad it was useful for you 😁👍
Awesome video thanks guys
Thanks Sundai 😁💕❤️👋 Hopefully others find it useful too that wanna eventually come here 🙂
Thank you for ur great information pretty helpful. HEAVEN ON EARTH!
Thanks Wasal, glad you found it helpful 👍🙂
Love that New Zealand takes keeping clean so seriously! Gotta maintain that stunning beauty
Yea it's not Japan level clean because they are next level and the people and culture are inherently just very clean-conscious kinda society if you know what I mean (or even China level clean coz they have got insane task forces to keep streets and public places spotless all the time) but NZ is a very clean country compared to many others so def wanna keep it that way 🍃👍🙂 That family that trashed our parks and were so rude seriously caused a national outrage 😅
Very helpful tips.. Love the transition tricks. 😍💥Always strive to do more. 👏🏼🥰
Ahhhh NZ Thank you sooooo much Peter and Yen. Very grateful to you both for showing what NZ have to offer. Stay warm and see you on your next video ❤️❤️ God Bless
Hiya Faye 👋💕🙂 Thank you! We like to chuck them in every now and then when we can haha.. have you seen Torrell and Johnny's transitions? Those boys are transition kings!! 😍 Aww thank you, we thought we'd pull this video together since we get so many comments about how people can't wait to visit NZ so thought the borders will eventually open again even if it's just with Australia to begin with.. might as well share some tips so people can start preparing 😁❤️ Take care, keep warm and stay safe!! Love from us both ❤️❤️🙂👋
Great tips Peter and Yen! Loving the special effects too.
Haha cheers Emily 😁👍 hope it was entertaining and helpful!
Great video!! So many beautiful backdrops
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
I love NZ! And I must to comeback!
Thanks for the important updated info awesome couple! ♥️🙏
Thanks Mio 👋💕 Hope you found it useful 😁👍 Take care and stay safe ❤️
Hey, great video! Do you guys have any tips on internet plans I can purchase for a 2 week trip round south island?
Hey Peter and Yen!! That was a fun intro!! That's so awesome to know that both north and south islands are very different to see!! It's good to know the differences of clothes to bring to each region based off the time of year. We are typically "off season" travelers. Any intercontinental trip.. we would definitely want to have a good itinerary of things to do and pack according. LOL The Kiwi slang!! Some of them are similar to things Butters has heard in Oz before!! That's good to know there is a good RV/campervan option there. Great to hear New Zealand is so protective of foregin species of germs/dirt/bugs/food coming into the country!! Hotel prices are definitely reasonable, but fuel prices sound pretty high!! Awesome and super useful video guys and beautiful footage as always!! Lots of love and stay safe!
Hey girls! Yea it's generally good to be prepared for all weather conditions here though, sometimes the weather can be pretty temperamental lol 😅 we do share a lot of similar slangs with Australians! They have a ton of their own slang too though 😆 yea nz has one of the most strict biosecurity laws but it's good and people just need to be aware. Glad you found this video informative, hope you're both well and taking care 🙂👍
Guys! Thanks a lot for sharing all those tips. It was super useful ( we might have to rewatch it when we book tickets to NZ 😂)and we really enjoyed watching beautiful nature images of NZ. We hope to visit there soon! 🙏🙏🙏
No worries hope you guys got something useful out of it 😀👍
Thanks so much for this, I'm leaving in a few hours and it's 4am and I've been up all night because of travel anxiety this helped so much
Hello all good, safe travels and hope you have an amazing time. It'll be all good 👍
Nice video guys!! ❤️❤️ The drone shots are 🔥. I can't wait to be back home 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I've lived here for 50 year, originally from the UK, but even I am learning a lot about my home country from your videos. I think your advice is spot-on. Cheers.

It's a very beautiful country Thu! We have more travel videos coming up that you'll hopefully enjoy 😁👍
Gotta save up for NZ trip! Still in our bucket list, hope to check it off soon!
Yes it's definitely not cheap here and Malaysia is tough coz of the weaker currency but if you guys do eventually come NZ we hope you'll love it here too and we're around to take you guys out 😁❤️
Great vibes, and great production , !!!!
Thank you 😊 💓
I'll be moving permanently to NZ soon. Glad I found your channel. Thanks for uploading!
Nice 👌 hope you enjoy your time in New Zealand and thank you for dropping a comment 👍
Yeah heard about the van, our friend rent this and got great facilities and they even provided them with all the maps where to eat and stops, etc. thanks for the info guys!
Yep really great motorhome and campervan infrastructure here 👍🙂🚙
thank you thinking about going this year
No worries hope you enjoy the trip 😊
Peter cleaning his jandals :p haha
Gotta prevent that kauri dieback 😁👍
My aunt just loves to travel abroad and i recommended NZ because of your channel. Turns out this video will actually come in handy, because she wanted a tourist guide before visiting New Zealand :)
That's awesome to hear Lucas, thank you for sharing our channel with your Aunt! Hope she finds it useful 🙂💕
Great video Peter and Yen!!! Awesome job. Ka Pai! Great to see some other kiwis one here promoting our beautiful country
Hey guys thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate the props 😁🤙
Great tips!! I gotta start saving up for NZ one day!!
😁👍💕
such great tips! your guys footage just shows how dam beautiful our country is.
Thanks Leah 😁✌
Cool 😎 vid thanks me and family planning New zealand 🇳🇿 trips ;D
Awesome hope you have a great trip 😁🤙
Agree with all these tips 👏 To add, when planning for the weather, expect that it could change any time of the day. Could be sunny this hour and rainy on the next.
Yes that's a great addition 👍 weather can be pretty temperamental here at times!
This is really great tips guys! would check this out again if we'll come visit NZ again, and yes Queenstown is in our bucket list already! and yes we will dress warm in winter season haha but seems like Peter got mostly summer outfit even in cold weather LOL we'll stick to Yen's haha =p.
Hahaha yea but even in winter here Peter has to eventually wear pants and closed shoes 😆 it does get really cold even in the North Island!
Loved the sound of the birds chirping in the intro!
Haha Peter was chuffed you noticed that little addition 😁👍 I think they're tuis (native NZ birds)! I would check with him but he's currently snoring in his sleep 😂
Peter and Yen peter snores 😂🙌🙏👍
Very informative video. Thanks for sharing. Is there a ferry from North-South island that can fit a car? We are thinking road tripping from Auckland to Welllington. Thanks
Yup there is! 🙂👍 There's the interislander that crosses the cook strait (North Island to South Island, Wellington to Picton) where you can take your car across or go just as passengers 🙂
Hello Peter and Yen fantastic New Zealand travel tips. Thank You for great sharing/ Gosia
Thank you Gosia 😁💕 Glad you enjoyed these tips, hope they'll come in handy one day 👍
Yo guys!! We wish you publish this video last year before we visited NZ for the first time 😆
Very informative video, great tips, will recommend this video for our friends who wish to visit NZ for the first time 👍🏻
Haha you'll just have to come again guys 😁 what caught you guys out when you were here? 🙂 Thanks for sharing our video with whoever may find it useful!
These are some very useful tips not just for NZ but for travelling to other countries too! I've made the mistake of assuming what the weather is gonna be like way too many times and I always regret it 😅
Haha we had that problem when we were in certain parts of China last year! Had to go buy warm clothes 😅😅
Ok. New Zealand is in the list. Thnks.
02:30 😂😂😂😂 this episode is full of surprises! Nicely done!
😁✌ thanks guys glad you enjoyed this one
Reggae music! This starts nice!
Haha was it reggae? I can't remember.. just the sounds of trumpets 😆 Peter will know what he chose 😆👍
Love the leaf effect 😍😍😍
Hahaha it was a perfect thing for slow mo and rewind 😁👍🍂🍃
Good video guys. Queenstown in just a beautiful and an amazing place. My first time coming across the slang word "munter", after 30 years in NZ. Guess we learn something new everyday don't we ?
Should be learning something new every day 😁👍 Munter is a great word lol
amazing travel tips for New Zealand good to know
*full viewed👍Au👍left our like for you*
Thanks Billy 😁👋 hopefully helpful for when the trans Tasman bubble eventually happens or when our borders reopen!
My tip take a month and enjoy.. oh... enjoy the grove in Auckland yum yum
Great tip! I agree that a month is needed too 😁👍
Keep our country green and clean visitors....
Ka Pai Love your videos guys
Thank you ❤🇳🇿
Great video! I plan on living in New Zealand after i finish my university in Lithuania!
Nice all the best with moving over here 😁👍
Nice video guys
Thanks
Stay connected
👍👍👍💯💯💯❤❤❤
Enjoyed it all guys.. Nah sweet as lol munter lol cmon and bugger.. Awesome and useful tips for those tourists
Haha love kiwi slang ay 😁 it's the best 👌🇳🇿🖤❤️
Nice effect at the beginning! 🤣 So many options. Queenstown and Matamata are on our list for sure. All of these effects are hilarious. Nicely done. Naruto jutsus!
😁👌 thanks guys, would be cool to see you guys visit New Zealand one day
Great advice there guys! I do agree with wearing more clothes when heading to the south island. If there is a travel bubble between NZ and Australia, im booking a ticket!
Yea we wonder when they'll be able to suss the details out for that trans Tasman bubble!
Dang an month in advance food to know that hobbit thing was. A must
Yea that banquet was crazy popular!! So for people who don't have long stays in NZ def good to book in advance for those really popular activities. Some things are weather dependent which makes it tougher but usually if weather and the activity can't go ahead you get rescheduled or refunded 👍
Love this place.
😁👍
Those were some really good tips, I didn’t know that the north island and the south were so different
Thanks Chris! Yeah man you'd have a very different experience if you only ever went to one of those islands 🏝
Yea nz is so cold during winter i remember that foggy night in queenstown woaah
Adds to the magic though ay 😉😆👌
Been there twice loved it. I want to go next year in November and stay for 3 months. My friend lives in Dargaville. I will be nearly 72 by then so that will be my last visit. Depending of course on the virus situation. The trans alpine train journey on the South Island is spectacular. Queenstown is fabulous
Hi Denise 👋🙂 3 months would be such a great trip! And you'll get to enjoy summer in NZ too 👍☺️ Hope the virus situation clears up soon and you'll get to come visit NZ again 💕🇳🇿
Nice intro Zach King, oops, I mean Peter 👍
I feel like us Aussies will get most of the slang straight away. How cool is that tree at 5:29 wow! That’s cool you’ve done skydiving 🪂 Not sure I’m game.
Hahahaha so far from King's skills 😅 that guy is amazing 👍 yea Aussies share a lot of similar slang with us Kiwi 😁 that tree is awesome ay. Skydiving was exhilarating! Peter reckons way less scary and much more enjoyable than bungee jumping 😆👌
I’ve never thought of travelling to NZ. Definitely going to be visiting during Canadian winters to escape the cold
How cold does it get over in Canada Junus? 🙂 Hope you'll get the chance to visit NZ one day 👍
Peter and Yen In Toronto, it can get down to -40 degrees Celsius during the peak winter seasons (December - March) and there’s always so much snow
Jeepers that's so cold!! 😰😰
Nice summary guys ❤
Thanks ✌️ 😊
I love New Zealand 😍👍 thanks beter and yen 💐
Glad you enjoyed the video Ahmed 🙂👍
Only just seen this, you guys are a hoot! 😂
😂 glad you enjoyed this one 🤙
About to take my first trip out there and this was so helpful. You guys are awesome. Just out of curiosity, what is that music you are using for the background? It's nice.
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video. Our music is from epidemic sound.
@@PeterandYen Thanks!
I was lucky enough to visit Rotorua in Jan 2020 before corona virus crisis. God Bless NZ!
It's such a cool city ay? We will have a new vlog from there in the upcoming weeks! Have made one previously 🙂 Hope you get to visit NZ again one day 👍
Nice intro!! smoooooth! Ooooo that's an early booking for hobbiton. Would be so much fun! hahaha sooo many of those sayings are in Aus too! Lol what's with that tree over the footpath!! might want to clear that peter 😝 So many oool extreme experiences!! Would love to try the luge! I (andy) have learnt sooooo much about NZ in this video than i have in my life!! 😂😂😂
Haha Peter loved hobbiton coz he's a Lord of the rings fan 👍 probably felt how I would feel if I visited a Harry Potter set 😂 that massive tree is really cool. It's in a park in central city 😁 near where we use to live. Does Aussie have a luge? It's so much fun! You can get a tiny bit of air time on the advanced track if you're light enough 🙂
hi , i can agree about needing a lot of time to look around last year i intended to do both islands but hardly cut the ice on the north island so coming back to do the south island and some of the north that i missed, trouble is you guys keep showing me places and i then want to see them myself haha, and from experience i can vouch for the strictness at immigration and border control. well as you know i am chomping at the bit to get back there, take care both of you too
Hiya Barry 👋🙂💕 hahaha you'll just have to make an even longer visit the next time you're in NZ! We've got lots more travel videos to share so get your notepad out to make your wishlist 😉❤️❤️ and yep NZ is super strict on biosecurity! Take care and stay safe ❤️🙂
Those reverse seasons! I was in NZ in 2009 and I have to say that celebrating X-Mas on a long, sunny day was a very strange experience. Here in Belgium, X-Mas means short, gloomy and rainy days, huddling up together around the fire and trying to survive winter depressions.
What do you recon strange good or strange weird? Growing up a kiwi it's all we know and a sunny xmas with the pohutikawa trees in bloom by the beach is the best 😁🌿👍 the huddling up together for warmth sounds kinda fun though but the novelty might wear off if it's every year 🤔
@@PeterandYen Strange as in unusual, but certainly not negative. We celebrated in Palliser Bay, in the very south of the Northern Island, and it was a wonderful day. It just didn't feel 'Christmassy' to us, if you feel what I mean.
But yeah, our long, dark and rainy winters can become depressing.
I'm seriously thinking about leaving Europe - for many complex reasons - and Iceland was on my shortlist of possible destinations, but the fact that they have no sun at all for 6 months a year is a deal breaker for me.
I'm babbling here, am I not? ;)
Hahah not at all always interesting to hear perspectives from people in other parts of the world. Iceland would be a really cool place to live 😎
Cannot wait to come to New Zealand one day... what we will probably do since its so far away and hubby only gets 2 weeks off a year is leave after Christmas then use the last week of that year then stay 2 more weeks in January so total 3 weeks but still only use paid time off lol
Hey Justine 👋 How have you been? 🙂 That sounds like a great plan! Hope you'll be able to visit NZ one day and will love it here as much as we do 🙂❤️🇳🇿
Thank you 🌻
Peter, you're amazing in Taupo's bungy jump. I was there last weekend, says there 'live more, fear less' ... well, i've decided to fear more hehe hmmmm, probably next time :)
Hahahaha i watched my friends do this 12 years ago and it was something I regretted not doing so it was good to finally tick this off the life bucket list. The fear was definitely pumping hard though🤣
I wanna visit there soon Dear
Such a beautiful country
It is indeed, so much natural beauty throughout the country 🙂👍❤️ hope you'll get a chance to visit one day!
I was supposed to be in NZ right now on a Working Holiday visa! Please keep the vids coming so I can visit vicariously
We have a bunch of new travel vlogs coming up from our recent road trip so hope you'll enjoy those and get some ideas for where to visit when you eventually make it to NZ 😉👍
@@PeterandYen I'll be following religiously! Sending good vibes from Ireland 🌟
Thank you so much! We hope to visit Ireland eventually one day 🤞 looks like a beautiful place!
"lock it or lose it" good to remember!
Yea that's often a public safety message you'll find here 👍
I found this one interesting, living down here in the South Island in Dunners, we hardly ever lock houses or cars when they are unattended, and nobody I know has ever had a problem! Though in saying I have never been to the North Island, so I assume things are different there XD
Oh wow that's good to know! 👍 Yea here in Auckland in particular and the tourist sites around North Island especially places where you might park for some time to go do a walk or something it's common to see signs about locking up. Peter use to work in insurance a while ago and had claims for car contents theft really regularly unfortunately! He agrees North Island tended to be worse but says it was still common even for South Island in the tourist hot spots too. Best to be safe than sorry 🤞
@@PeterandYen why?
Bro! You need to head to Napier/Hastings for Art Deco weekend. It's in summer, so you can go fruit picking, swimming in rivers, and a winery tour or 3.
Yooo Daniel hope you and the family have been well man. We just spent 3 nights in Hawkes Bay had an awesome as time. Vlogs coming soon 👌
@@PeterandYen wicked! Can't wait to see it!
nice that holden ripping it
😁🤙
My younger sister really want to go to NZ, she has been asking us for a long time :P This video will be very informative for us :)
Heya Yuli 👋🙂 Hope you're well and that you find this video helpful for you girls 😁❤️ Dunno when our borders will reopen but when they do you'll be well prepared 👌❤️
Wanna go there!
such amazing editing!!
Thank you! We're still learning and trying to make our videos better with each one we edit 🙂👍
Very useful video for those who gonna travel around New Zealand...Our next Travel destination is Queenstown
Queenstown is magical! Hope you have a wonderful time 😁👋💕
Thanks for this informative tips. How common is cash based transactions in most areas in NZ? Trying to avoid foreign transaaction fee with credit cards.
Cash is still widely accepted throughout NZ although the most common form of day to day payments are done with credit and EFTPOS cards 👍🙂
Wow taking a train through the island must be an amazing experience with all those scenic views along the way. What about renting a motorbike? Is it too extreme? 😅
Heaps of people do ride motorbike around New Zealand but the roads here can be a lil bit dangerous due to all the tight windy spaces so car 🚗 is much safer.
Peter and Yes you're both amazing. There's one thing that could possibly be added into the description above. If tourists are camping or on a camper van there are lots of free sites around NZ. I know you've been to Gizzy, and there are four sites not far from where you both did the Stingray watch and feed. And there are more free sites the further up the East Coast the tourist goes. Take care, be safe, blessings of good health and much success in both of your lives 💙💓💙
Awesome addition and advice thanks for sharing Maraea! 😁🙌 and thank you for your kind words also, we really appreciate it ❤️❤️🙂
@@PeterandYen you're both beautiful people inside and out 💙
Great tips.
Cheers mate 👍🙂
Hi, what/where is the car drifting at 3:28? Is that something that you can hire or experience yourself while visiting? Or just something you recorded
It's just something that happened, some locals having a good time 😁
I dream of visiting Christchurch..i hope you can do a vlog there soon.. 😁😍.. watching from Paeroa
Heya Jas 👋 We've made a vlog from Christchurch before 👍 you can find it by just going back through our videos or look up "Peter and Yen Christchurch" in UA-cam's search and it should pop up 😁👍💕
OMG you guys did skydiving?? is there a video of this?? We must watch !!!
We did it many years ago before we were vlogging! The full clip is on my personal Facebook if you wanna see though 😁 only I got the video though coz Peter didn't wanna pay extra for his, it was quite an add on cost especially when we were younger so we got it just for me 😅
@@PeterandYen I'll be watching it today 😁😁
great tips my dear :)
Thanks mum 😘❤️
