For smelly fabric consider a spray of vodka…professional dance costume company trick for combatting odor between performances
I do exactly those products for many, many years now... the only difference is that I put essential oils in it. I love the lemon and spruce ones... leave the things shiny and more disinfected with the lemon and sooo good smelling with the spruce one. Now, just one thing to add... is that vinegar IS a disinfectant and kills loads on viruses and bacterias.
A trick also... isopropyl/water and essential oils (like eucalyptus, thyme, lemon, orange, etc..) in a small spray bottle is making a very nice house deodorant spray which also "purify" the air... very good when somebody in the house have a flu... help to limit the contamination.
Yes and the alcohol and water don't leave the residue on fabric like febreeze and fabric softener mixes
Great timing! Moving house in two weeks and was looking at reducing my cleaning supplies to general purpose solutions for more efficient cleaning time! Thanks for the explanations
Congratulations on the new place!
@@CleanThatUp Thanks! Got a lot of tips from your channel as well to get the old rental back to its best shape. New house we bought instead of rented, so a good moment to be more mindful of what we use to take care of it
Thanks for the cleaner recipes! These are wonderful suggestions for 90% of modern houses.
Ammonia is a most powerful degreaser. Back in the day when we really did wax our kitchen floors, ammonia was the only thing that got the old yellowed wax up.
if there's a thick black greasy muck on your kitchen cabinets, either straight ammonia or a mix containing ammonia gets it off.
if its a very, very old house with blackened layers of hand oils on old banisters, knobs, doors, or anywhere, ammonia gets it up. When the filth is layered and thick, the ammonia isn't even reaching the woodwork until layers are cleaned off. [ammonia is drying, but with woodwork glycerin and a spray of water heals it - plus then the appropriate wax for protection - there are many wood-healing recipes out there]
Ammonia in the washer is great for getting skin flakes, body oils, and perspiration out, especially with today's lousy detergents and cold water washes.
Many cleaning shows focus on clean suburban houses with drywall and easily cleaned counters, baseboards and such. So yea, light cleaners are sufficient.
But rural living in old farmhouses is a very different cleaning challenge...!! mouse poop, drafts bearing dust, oil furnaces that create grime and sticky surfaces, crumbling rock and mortar walls, oh man.
So right! Grew up in a 1780s stone house my mom still lives in. Ammonia is the only thing that could deal with sigler oil stove gunk.
Original pine floors that have been polyurethaned, then buffed with Johnson's paste wax. Every year I still strip old wax, reapply and buff floors for my mom.
Polyurethane protects the floors but it still scratches. It's a ton of work to redo poly, so the wax protects it. Much rather have wax scratches lol.
@@tracyjohnson5023 oh yea, for old wood floors Johnson’s is the only way to go!
Yep, hands and knees and an ole’ cotton rag. Hard work😑
I think I just discovered ammonia, I’m in love with zep foaming wall cleaner and it smells just like ammonia (cat piss) lol but it works where nothing else has
Have you ever watched the Japanese companies using UA-cam that tackle abandoned rental homes and intensively cleaned??
They have an amazing own mix of degreaser..... would love to hear your thoughts and what's in it after watching
I'm a new sub 🎉
I have not! Definitely going to check that out, it sounds very interesting. Thanks for subscribing! 🙂
I saw them few times but I just wonder... do they give the recipe for their cleaner????
I love the Asian cleaning channels as well.
I use vinegar as a fabric softener!
I've made my own for a while now ..
1 -3 Sprays of Dawn Powerwash
Half water
Half vinegar
In whatever size bottle you have 😂
I love your videos 😍
They will save a ton of $$$
You have no Idea how much you really help me with cleaning tips .... Big thanks 😎👏🏻💐
Can you suggest anything for stainless steel (fridge and dishwasher). Thank you!
Thank you so much for this!!!
Thank you so much for sharing!!
Great stuff!
I make my own cleaners, just like these and they work great!!!
Great information!
Thanks for watching!
Came at the right time❤thx
Great to hear!
Brilliant !
Thanks for your great explanation, love your channel 👍🏼
Thanks so much for watching!
I've been using these since watching your channel and they do work great. Thanks for putting the info in one video that I can send to family🎉
Thank you! Can you please do a video on mops. I'm deciding if I should get a steam mop, use the microfibre mop or get an electric scrubber mop.
I've been using them on the last few years.
Great vid! Can we use these on shower tile?
Brilliant thank you 🙋♀️😁👍
Thanks for watching!
Any tips on cleaning linen upholstery ? I have a linen upholstered bed that the puppies love to rub against and many linen dining chairs that get smudges.Thanks. I enjoy your channel.
I just moved into a new home and some of the wooden kitchen cabinets are sticky/tacky to the touch around the stove (from grease no doubt). Suggestions for getting rid of this? Thanks. I love your videos…so helpful.
I do the dish soap + water but don't add the isopropyl alcohol. In Australia, isopropyl is $1.67 usd per cup, which makes 2 cups of your mixture. At that point I could buy a multipurpose cleaner for $1.00 usd per 2 cups.
Is it similar priced in the US for the isopropyl?
Isopropyl alcohol 70% 16oz
Dollar Tree. $1.25
Walmart. $2.08
Target. $2.79
Fred Meyer. $2.69
Walgreens. $2.79
Cvs. $2.99
Rite Aid. $2.19
Safeway. $2.99
5 Below. $2.25
Winn Dixie. $2.49
Prices vary across the country. It's still a better value to make your own spray over buying. Less ingredients vs many.
What mix or products do you use to mop floors? We have three types of hard floors: linoleum, laminate, and some kind of stone tile in the bathroom. We use a specific spray for the laminate, but would love ideas for the linoleum and tile
Hello! What is the best way to clean limescale deposits from glass? I'm referring to the glass shower door. It's so stubborn! Help!
And the best way to remove really stubborn baked grime in the oven. I've tried a scouring pad (which worked to an extent), white vinegar and baking soda and grease remover. But i still have the hard baked on bits that won't come off!
Love the channel and your enthusiasm!
What do you recommend to use on hardwood floors?
Can u do a video on cleaning the top vent thing above stove. And the kitchen cupboards. Please.
What about doing one with both the vinegar and the alcohol plus dish soap & water???
Yay at least you tell people what you can’t use vinegar on.
???Can essential oils such as lemon be added or will that make the surface have an oily film? Great video!
P.s. how do you remove the stickiness that remains on the wall when you've used sellotape to stick a picture to the wall?
Thanks! 😊
Hey Brandon, with the homemade vinegar mix, how long is it shelf stable? Do you make it fresh each time and use it all up or can it be stored? I'm just wondering if bacteria will build up because of the water. Thanks Xx
huh? vinegar itself has water.
If you boil your water first, it will destroy any possible bacteria left after the treatment process. Vinegar was also used as an antibacterial agent back in the days of Florence Nightingale.
If worst comes to worst, it’s cheap enough to dump it and make a new batch.
Hello! New here, so forgive me if you’ve addressed this but, what are your thoughts on cleaning with Castile soap?
Thanks Brandon 👍😀 Will set up 2 spay bottles tomorrow 👍👏
I found that by doing so, I’m going to $ave some ca$h by not grabbing
The ‘cleaning wipes’ that are so convenient
I make my own cleaning wipes in the container. Use cheap paper towels for regular wipes and heavier shop towels for a tub o towels dupe.
I just use an old plastic dish pan, mix solution, dump towels in to soak. Then I put them and some of mix in the plastic tub. You can also use a glass mason jar with a silicone lid slotted.
Can I use my homemade citrus vinegar for this?
How do you clean soap scum off a fabric shower curtain? Thanks! Love your videos! ❤❤❤
I put mine in the washing machine and it works great... even for the plastic one. I fill the machine as usual with my soap, agitate for few moments and stop the machine (I have a top loader), let soak for around 15 minutes and then do the normal wash with double rince... and voilà!!!! I don't do the dryer though but just out of the washing machine and back onto the poles.
How do you clean engineered wood floors
Do we need to rinse off either of these solutions with water after using on furniture (table tops, counters, etc)?
Don dish soap.❤
I'll try those recipies!
I can't stand the strong smell of cleaning products and I really don't mind the smell of vinegar, I already use it to disinfect and dehodorize my thrashbins.
I think you’ll like them! 🙂
Thank you very informative.
I hadn't heard before that the vinegar/water/Dawn dish soap DIY mix was bad for cleaning wood floors. I was mixing the Vinegar/Water/Dawn with Murphy's soap. What about just in between?
I like the look of your video. Can I ask what kind of camera, lighting and microphone you used?
I have some things to say, I've done comedy, book reviews, Chicago history tours (I got fired a few times 20 best ever reviews, one bad review - always an older woman, corporate fires me).
I 'd like to do some videos in my home, possible out and about. I don't want to use my personal Phone. I have a GoPro now but don't know how to use it.
OMG I love the board games mug in the background!!!
Huge board gamer here 😅
Hi! Do you have any advice about cleaning glass stoves? Particularly like water deposit under the surface of the glass? The surface will be completely clean, but if I run my finger over the white spots under the surface, I feel slight resistance. I'm not sure how to explain, but it's not on the actual surface of the glass.
Do you have to heat the mixture in microwave? some say yes
which one of these two mix can you use to clean the shower and get rid of mold? Thanks!
Do you rince? Thanks
Would you recommend any of those for mirrors? (Sorry if any mistake English isn't my first language)
Hey do you find microfiber flat mops over O cedar spin mops? I've seen you use flat ones and they seem fast and efficient but o cedars are all the rage right now
Do you have a video for getting rust stain out of shower-bottom grout. My metal bottle-holder stained the grout in my shower tiled stall.
Does the dawn in the mixture not leave a residue on whatever you’re cleaning??? This is what I’m always afraid of so I’ve never tried it.
What type of spray bottles do you use cuz the ones we had keep breaking if we add the dawn soap😢
QUESTION husband cleaned my vanity mirror with a supposedly clean microfiber but it left what I can only assume is car wax residue on it. I don't want to damage the wood frame and counter with a harsh product. Do you have any suggestions please?
What percentage vinegar do you use, do you notice a difference between like 7% and 9%?
I am new to this channel, so I don't know wether or not you covered this already:
Do you have a diy (or at least not so harsh to the environment) way to create a lotus effect on glass doors, windows, etc?
The stuff made for cars does a decent job, but I don't like the ingredients nor the price tag. 😅
Is there a reason why it should be Dawn dish soap, or would any dish soap work? 😊
Use your favorite dish soap. I use gain.
I dont have 70% but 90% iso alcohol, would that work aswel?
Thank you!! How do you clean and sanitize brooms?
I would spray with the 70% alcohol and let sit and dry.
Thank you!!!!
Which one of those daily cleaners would you use to clean a daily on a glass top stove?
Doesn't vinegar cancel out the effects of the dish soap and leave it at a ph that is stripped and milky and not that effective for cleaning? Just curious!
Will the vinegar cleaner help with hard water/calcium deposits in the shower? Thanks!
Yes! The acidic qualities do a great job to break down hard water. If it’s really bad I might use cleaning vinegar instead of the white vinegar because it’s a bit stronger.
@@CleanThatUp Thanks!! I will give it a try!
Can anyone recommend an acid resistant spray bottle?
The vinegar ate through the rubber seals on the spray that I was using
I only have 91% isopropyl alcohol in my cabinet right now and would love to us it for the mixture! Would that work if I upped the amount of water?
I would do 2 cups water if possible
I dont dilute my vinegar. I don't mind the smell of vinegar.
I have 91% alcohol… how do I adjust this for the stronger alcohol?… would I still use 1 cup or less? Thanks!
Which one do you think will work better on the bottom of a plastic laundry basket with quite a lot of ground in dirt from a basement floor?
I would probably use my vinegar mix for that!
If you don't like vinegar, use citric acid powder. It's just as good and a little goes a long way!
Would either mixture work on slight mold around shower ceiling? Or would the full strength cleaning vinegar work better for that? Thanks.
I would probably go vinegar mix or cleaning vinegar if it’s really bad. 🙂
@@CleanThatUp - thank you for the reply! I appreciate it. I’ll try that.
😍
What about dog urine in carpets? How do I get rid of odor and clean?
Baking soda worked into carpet well let sit for 20-30 minutes then vacuum up.
Vinegar/water solution sprayed on let sit a few minutes and blot up with micro fiber cloth.
I do one or both of these things first then spray a mix of water and pet odor product onto carpet. Work it in with soft brush and suck it up with shop vac.
@@tracyjohnson5023 thank you
What about just water and Dawn
That’s a good one too! I love dawn and water for kitchen cabinets.
@@CleanThatUp Thank you
dosent the cleaner big companies make already contain these 3 ingredients
4:27 Something one should be aware of... "In this analysis, a 50% isopropyl alcohol solution kills Staphylococcus Aureus in less than 10 seconds (pg. 238), yet a 90% solution with a contact time of over two hours is ineffective."
Also, when concentration is below 50%, disinfection usefulness drops dramatically. 70% IPA is most effective at disinfecting.
Wait... what about hydrogen peroxide? I have seen you use that in videos. Where does that fit in with these 2?
Good question! For me hydrogen peroxide is used in more specific/specialty cleaning tasks not so much as a general cleaner.
Any ideas on how to get the stinky out of a leather chair? Beautiful leather chairs that were in a house that smelled of moth balls.
