I’m a 62 year old woman. Four years ago I bought my first and only game system. It was a Switch which was bought just to play Animal Crossing. I’ve tried a few other games but nothing has really stuck except acnh. I would buy a new system but just to play a new Animal crossing.
If you try StarDew Valley watch some beginner videos first so ypu don't feel overwhelmed and remember you can go st your own pace....time really doesn't matter
I absolutely bought a Switch Lite for ACNH and then when that one got stick drift, I upgraded to the ACNH edition Switch. With how expensive the Switch 2 is likely to be, I honestly may not be able to justify buying one until the next AC game happens. What would still be sick though is if ACNH got an update for the Switch 2 and they gave us the items from Pocket Camp.
@@SailBros_204 Honestly, I think it just occurred naturally from how much I was playing ACNH. It was the left stick and I was putting hundreds upon hundreds of hours into it. Hopefully it's something they can fix with the Switch 2!
I’ve said it forever, with how many people own switches and take them on the go, why do we not have street pass?? I know it’s little and not many people would care but that would bring the social experience even higher I feel
I don't know if youre in the switch 2 reddit but lots of us say they want streetpass as well, though keep mentioning it cause hopefully nintendo listens I guess, maybe it's won't on the switch 2 on release but perhaps they can build the app and put in the eshop for free and promote it
The only things I need in a Switch 2 are - Better frame rate - Better battery (preferably 5-10hrs) - 1080p 60fps in handheld - A completely new improved Eshop (perhaps similar to how it functions on the PS5) - A much more fun customizable home screen - A sleeker/smaller dock Now heres just somethings I want but dont necessarily need - Themes - Mii Channel - Everybody Votes Channel - Music for Eshop, Mii maker, Home screen ect - Voice chat/messaging - Downloadable Nintendo shows (similar to the Kirby TV Channel) - More shorts with gaming IPs (just how they did with Pikmin)
Just know asking for tons of battery and better performance is a tough ask with current battery technology. Hard to do both extremely well. But sure it would be nice. Battery life is less important to me. I would rather plug in and have more power if needed.
@Ray-dl5mp I mean the Switch OLED & the better battery life SKU gets 4.5-9hrs which I think is perfectly fine and the 5-10hrs of battery life isn't that far off of that which I can see being achievable It just needs to be better then the original Switch which has 2.5-6.5hrs & I don't quite see it being worse then those 2 models I mentioned above The Steam Deck OLED is 3-12hrs so if at max it can last 12hours I'm sure Nintendo can reach a max of 10
@@sabmis2658 if the OLED/better battery SKU can get 4.5-9hrs why can't the new switch 2 reach 5-10? That's barely a difference from the OLED model It might not happen but I believe it is definitely achievable especially if the Steam Deck can reach a high of 12hrs
I bought a switch for AC! Personally feel like they should have a new AC title as a launch tbh or if it is backwards compatible, release an update. AC players are a massive player base just as much as Mario & Zelda etc so I feel like that should be recognised
Nintendo gained a lot of new fans due to new horizons. There's so many cozy gamers that never would have started playing games if NH didn't come out. It would be really dumb for Nintendo not to bring this fan base over to switch 2 by making a new AC
Pat, I bought a switch lite for ACNH! My husband is a massive Zelda Fan and introduced me to BotW, which blew my mind and then I got into more and more Nintendo games. I agree, we need Mario kart and some huge launch games. I would love to see you make a video of your “ideal” first year of Switch 2. Great vid. 👍🏻
I would love for it to be able to run more third party games, personally. I don’t have a PC and hate having to buy newer and newer consoles just to play certain games, so versatility is really appreciated. I’ll always want a Nintendo console though. Also I hope Nintendo gets more streaming apps for the Switch/Switch 2!
I bought a switch in the height of the pandemic after watching my friend play ACNH(The museum was so pretty). Will definitely buy the next system for a new AC❤
At those higher prices we're getting close to Steam deck prices, which would have all of my Steam games. It would also play those third-party games that didn't port well to the Switch. Switch 2 would need to be a high level of power at that price range. My hope, though, is that the Switch 2 launches with a great game that I can't say no to!
Just around 1440/60 is fine when docked, IR pointing, second screen via cast. All legacy games to come home. Force feedback sticks HAS to be the big new feature 🙏🏻
The Switch (lite) is my first and only console and yes, it was because of animal crossing. Ive played lots of Cozy game since then though, but thats absolutely what started it.
I didn't buy a switch just for Animal Crossing but learning ACNH was coming was definitely a factor. My family already had Switches, ACNH was why I got my own (if I recall correctly. It has been a long time after all lol). Literally all I want in a Switch 2 is enough power to tour Dream islands without items flickering in and out as I'm running through. There are some amazing Dreams that would be SO MUCH BETTER if only the Switch were a little more powerful. Although I also want home menu customization beyond just light mode & dark mode. I really miss the theming we got to do on the DS :( As for video streaming apps, I really really don't see that one happening. Not because of Nintendo (directly), but because it would take dev resources to make and those streaming companies are never gonna allocate those resources to something that's just a courtesy to existing subscribers. If the existence of a Switch app drove subscriptions to those services, sure, they'd do it, but I sincerely doubt that's the case. Let's face it, those companies will never put money into something that doesn't directly bring in revenue, no matter how much it improved customer satisfaction.
All of that and .... not to be an old curmudgeon "back in my day..." but I want them to bring backwards compatibility for the previous console for EVERY console. Like switch should have had a ds port the way ds had a Gameboy sp/advance port, and switch 2 should be able to read and run switch og games
I'll be honest, I got tired of waiting and just bought myself a Steam Deck. It takes too long for the indie games I want to play to come out on the Switch, and then they don't run well. The only game I can see getting me to put money down on the Switch 2 is the new Animal Crossing, and it's going to have to look absolutely fantastic to justify the cost of buying a new console just for that one game
I agree with all of this. I'm also hoping since they are making Switch games backwards compatibility, I'm hoping the do performance updates to fix the framerate issues and such.
I'm hoping there will be a switch lite version of the new system as I only play handheld, and I like the compactness and portability of the switch lite.
In terms of power, a good baseline is being able to run previous gen games without compromise. RDR2, FF7 Remake, etc. In some ways that means Nintendo will be caught up, since some games still release with previous gen or lower-fidelity skews in mind.
My mom had a switch and I never touched it. During 2020 I saw animal crossing and begged her to let me use it. After playing I brought my own so my brother wouldn’t mess with my island and brought so many games since lol
when my online friends and I play Mario kart together, we tend to hop in a video call or voice call on Facebook messenger. I wish they would have something similar to Xbox party chats! Something that could be included with online is something similar to game pass!

Is either near or is kinda like the Steam Deck and yes I'm talking about the overall insides of the Switch 2, which would be the screen, the GPU, the CPU, the Speakers, and yes the storage. I would like to say that some incentives on the rewards too, also, I just didn't buy a Switch for Animal Crossing, I bought a Switch for Pokemon and Zelda, Animal Crossing is a game I can pick up and play for a few hours hunting those fish, insects, and ocean creatures. The eShop really needs an overhaul as it gets slow to browse through and waiting that 1-2 minutes for things to load, is a nightmare, yes I have seen those AI Clones of games that are already in the store. I don't know about the apps as you can watch UA-cam on the Switch, as for Disney and such, yeeeaaaahhhhh I wouldn't hold my breath as you can watch Disney+, UA-cam, Netflix, and such on the go on your mobile phone and the Switch doesn't allow you to use a sim card and I rather not have a sim card in the Switch. I have an Xbox Series X, 3DS & 3DS LL, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, a Gaming Laptop that isn't being used for gaming, and an Intel Nuc that I'm thinking of making into a Retro Game Machine, so I can play games that I want to play on them. What I would like to see is Yo-kai Watch released worldwide and not just in Japan
I would absolutely spend more money on a more powerful system to have some longevity to it. When you said the Switch has the power of a 360, I died inside I'd be shocked if MK9 or whatever they call it doesn't release at launch. They'd be crazy not to announce a new AC within the 1st year. I don't think they care about ACNH, no point in making a deluxe, it's onward & upward. The Switch UI is boring, I want themes too. More apps would be great, if they can add UA-cam, they can add Hulu. The eshop is trash, please fix it. I'm starting to believe the new C button is for a community/chat feature, would definitely help put Nintendo in the modern era. I don't have NSO+, don't see a reason to spend $50/yr on it. I'd love to see more free games on there or a cool new feature added. Anyway, thanks for coming to my TedTalk🎆
You're spot on about Animal Crossing driving switch sales. My hope is that they ditched us at v2 to develop a new game for close to launch. My fear is they just release an updated ACNH given the rumours that they're planning this for some games 😢
Oh man! Honestly I would with no hesitation buy immediately if they released alongside a new ACNH game! I'm a hardcore Zelda Fan too though don't get me wrong, but Animal Crossing all the way! 🙏
I will buy the Switch 2 because I’ve had every console since the very first NES. But the switch is the first one I have aver bought multiples for just to play one game 😂 So as long as we get a new ac very soon and lots of the games we love and expect from Nintendo I’m happy!
Yeah doubt they’ll try and launch it with mk9. It’ll probably be out within a year of launch, but they are trying to avoid the scarcity issues they had before at the launch of the switch.
It is frustrating that the system hasn’t even been officially unveiled, and yet we’re already talking about a Switch 2 Pro. If the T239 SoC is based on an 8nm production, as theorized, the calls for a Pro model will only become louder. Maybe this time Nintendo will provide one.
Nintendo should have their accessibility options aside from the Zoom feature. like have a screen reader for your menus and eshop. and also have apps we can order food while you play the game like DoorDash Uber eats. and the like. The switch successor needs to have quick resume feature where you can have at least three things running at once that way you can play Mario kart nine then move over to the DoorDash app and order some food and then get back to the game. Would it be awesome to have an app on your switch? You can order food I know that Nintendo should have something special for switch online members to include something like a Uber Eats or DoorDash membership. now that would be cool.
I feel like the pay more for more power is a depends for me. If more power mean it runs everything steady 1080p at 60 fps then yes I would pay more. If more power means it trying to target 4k then I'm not willing to pay for that
@ I think the limited capability of running sports games on the switch is one of its huge downfalls. Hopefully increased power will bring better games to it. I truly got an Xbox only to play nhl and now it’s my main console until I get a PC long term I think.
What I’m looking for with this console is less compromise game wise. Yea I buy Nintendo because I love their games. But I always have to have an other console or pc for the big games. I want switch to be announced with a great first party game, but also Elden Ring, and Elden Ring Nightreign. I really want to play those games on my switch, and have them look just as good. but it would also set a tone that this is a real fuggin console.
My main motivation to buy a Switch was the Pokemon games and Animal Crossing (because I'm a fan of the series and was waiting for the new game in the franchise since New Leaf released) I really hope we get an OLED screen for the base model. I would be very disappointed if we get LCD at this point but I sadly see Nintendo doing it again. We definitely need better UI, I'd love to see some degree of customisation... and the eShop is a complete disaster like you said, it's so so laggy and user experience is horrible. I don't see a chat feature coming purely because Nintendo has the biggest underage player base of all consoles and that can lead to a lot of problems - you can imagine why (even with parental lock and stuff like that). Truly hoping for a new Mario Kart with launch and Animal Crossing soon-ish after!!!
I got my switch lite mainly for pokemon sword and my second game was animal crossing NH. Both are my all time favourite games, would definitely want a new animal crossing game to get a new Nintendo system.
I'd like it to be a bit more ergonomically designed, it's not the most comfortable thing to play handheld for long periods as it stands. I definitely want it to be at least somewhere in the ballpark in terms of power rather than not even in sight of the park. Apps, mmm. I kind of would like it to have a bit more to it like Netflix, a reading app etc, but would I realistically use those when I have things that can do it so much better already? Probably not. I want it to be a good game console, not a poor representation of a tablet I guess. I'm only going to play AC on it anyway, so as long as it runs it then I'll be happy!
I'm a 60 yr old woman, probably not a typical gamer. I've been playing on Nintendo consoles since the 90s. i think the SNES was our first one and we've upgraded (apart from the WiiU) every time. Favourite games? Zelda, Mario, ACNH... got us through the pandemic. As a family we love the party games too. I have access to a PS4 (loved Persona 5), X box (both my sons) but he only really plays shoot em up games, not my thing. I like retro games too, and play hand held Apps on my phone, would be pleased to see these on a new console.
I bought my switch for Animal Crossing. I had Breath of the Wild on the Wii-U so up until then, I didn't see a point in upgrading systems. Eventually, I did end up buying Breath of the Wild and then Tears of the Kingdom again. Still have yet to buy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I now love the switch so much, I am struggling to decide if I buy it right away or wait until a franchise that I love actually makes a custom one like NH did with their consoles.
Animal Crossing I assume will come out year 1 or year 2. It’s such a big franchise now. Too good to wait too long on. Plus they didn’t really do that many crazy updates for last one so this would be a good time. Hopefully they blow people away this time with all the things you can do. They also shouldn’t need insane developer time for this one.
Yes please I would love to have Netflix on the switch. I definitely watched on the Wii and I also hate the eshop I be looking for puzzle/story games and I feel like what I’m looking for isn’t really there
I loved the idea of the switch lite and the switch itself and then the old i actually have all 3 lol… but i DEF want more power and graphics even if it is just for nintendo titles forget the 3rd party titles right now like you said its 2025! But i def would like a pro model and even if they did a budget model like the lite again that was really cool … and please god do some themes and not just avatar themes but actual where the ui changes and sorry wasnt trying to write a book…
I bought my switch just to play Mario Odyssey, and loved every bit of it. I am hoping they release a pt. 2 with the upcoming switch. I’m not into buying the same console twice, so a “pro” wouldn’t entice me. Just make 1 great console and call it a day. I agree, I would love other entertainment apps on it, for when I’m experiencing burnout. Additionally, please revamp the UI and the eshop!!

I bought a Switch for AC. Going on five years later and really only play that and Zelda. Everything else I play on PS5 or Steam because frankly it’s a better experience.
I wanted a Switch to play ACNH. There was soooo much hype and my friends played. By the time I found one.. I spent 600 dollars for it. Between the chip shortage and scalpers.. that's what I got. By the time it came my friends were pretty much done. :( Also, the streaming thing.. my modern TV relies on Roku for Bluetooth and it's terrible. I cannot run a headset on my TV because as soon as my phone dims it disconnects. I was just thinking.. why doesn't switch have streaming apps? Definitely needs the alps.
Really hope they don't just call it Switch 2. I hope it has a name that's easier to differentiate. I have little hope of it given Wii and WiiU but one can dream. Old pokemon games in whatever online console the new one has (hopefully is just the current one and no new subscription needed).
I was gifted a used Switch Lite and a copy of Animal Crossing from my daughter. Within 3 months I bought an Oled and another copy of the game because I love the game and wanted another island. So, yes, I own a Switch for ACNH. I’m already saving towards the next console and would be willing to pay more for the best version they can offer.
I just want analog triggers. Adaptive would be great, but at least give us analog. I mean, it's 2025, and Mario Kart is, as you said, a system seller. Why are we still stuck with cheap, outdated, "all or nothing" triggers? Also, we definitely need a bettter eShop. The ability to blacklist/block certain publishers, leave reviews, etc should be included from the start. A decent refund policy would be nice too, but I don't want to be too greedy here, lol...

Nintendo needs to launch new Mario Cart, Splatoon, AC, and Zelda. These 4 games r the reason people buy the Switch.

As for Mario Kart 9, we also need to have the Multiplayer for free, on every game. Instead they are going to charge even more for it.

Is either near or is kinda like the Steam Deck and yes I'm talking about the overall insides of the Switch 2, which would be the screen, the GPU, the CPU, the Speakers, and yes the storage. I would like to say that some incentives on the rewards too, also, I just didn't buy a Switch for Animal Crossing, I bought a Switch for Pokemon and Zelda, Animal Crossing is a game I can pick up and play for a few hours hunting those fish, insects, and ocean creatures. The eShop really needs an overhaul as it gets slow to browse through and waiting that 1-2 minutes for things to load, is a nightmare, yes I have seen those AI Clones of games that are already in the store. I don't know about the apps as you can watch UA-cam on the Switch, as for Disney and such, yeeeaaaahhhhh I wouldn't hold my breath as you can watch Disney+, UA-cam, Netflix, and such on the go on your mobile phone and the Switch doesn't allow you to use a sim card and I rather not have a sim card in the Switch. I have an Xbox Series X, 3DS & 3DS LL, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, a Gaming Laptop that isn't being used for gaming, and an Intel Nuc that I'm thinking of making into a Retro Game Machine, so I can play games that I want to play on them. What I would like to see is Yo-kai Watch released worldwide and not just in Japan

I would absolutely spend more money on a more powerful system to have some longevity to it. When you said the Switch has the power of a 360, I died inside I'd be shocked if MK9 or whatever they call it doesn't release at launch. They'd be crazy not to announce a new AC within the 1st year. I don't think they care about ACNH, no point in making a deluxe, it's onward & upward. The Switch UI is boring, I want themes too. More apps would be great, if they can add UA-cam, they can add Hulu. The eshop is trash, please fix it. I'm starting to believe the new C button is for a community/chat feature, would definitely help put Nintendo in the modern era. I don't have NSO+, don't see a reason to spend $50/yr on it. I'd love to see more free games on there or a cool new feature added. Anyway, thanks for coming to my TedTalk🎆

Yes, I bought a Switch sometime in 2020 because I knew Animal Crossing would be the best it's been. But I didn't get the switch right away.
I bought the Switch because of ACNH. I do love Mario, mariokart and donkey kong games too.

I will buy the Switch 2 because I’ve had every console since the very first NES. But the switch is the first one I have aver bought multiples for just to play one game 😂 So as long as we get a new ac very soon and lots of the games we love and expect from Nintendo I’m happy!
Yeah doubt they’ll try and launch it with mk9. It’ll probably be out within a year of launch, but they are trying to avoid the scarcity issues they had before at the launch of the switch.
It is frustrating that the system hasn’t even been officially unveiled, and yet we’re already talking about a Switch 2 Pro. If the T239 SoC is based on an 8nm production, as theorized, the calls for a Pro model will only become louder. Maybe this time Nintendo will provide one.
I bought a switch for Animal Crossing. I have a physical disability and it seems to be the only one I can play efficiently and effectively.
Nintendo should have their accessibility options aside from the Zoom feature. like have a screen reader for your menus and eshop. and also have apps we can order food while you play the game like DoorDash Uber eats. and the like. The switch successor needs to have quick resume feature where you can have at least three things running at once that way you can play Mario kart nine then move over to the DoorDash app and order some food and then get back to the game.
Would it be awesome to have an app on your switch? You can order food I know that Nintendo should have something special for switch online members to include something like a Uber Eats or DoorDash membership. now that would be cool.
I feel like the pay more for more power is a depends for me. If more power mean it runs everything steady 1080p at 60 fps then yes I would pay more. If more power means it trying to target 4k then I'm not willing to pay for that

@ I think the limited capability of running sports games on the switch is one of its huge downfalls. Hopefully increased power will bring better games to it. I truly got an Xbox only to play nhl and now it’s my main console until I get a PC long term I think.

What I’m looking for with this console is less compromise game wise. Yea I buy Nintendo because I love their games. But I always have to have an other console or pc for the big games. I want switch to be announced with a great first party game, but also Elden Ring, and Elden Ring Nightreign. I really want to play those games on my switch, and have them look just as good. but it would also set a tone that this is a real fuggin console.
My main motivation to buy a Switch was the Pokemon games and Animal Crossing (because I'm a fan of the series and was waiting for the new game in the franchise since New Leaf released)
I really hope we get an OLED screen for the base model. I would be very disappointed if we get LCD at this point but I sadly see Nintendo doing it again.
We definitely need better UI, I'd love to see some degree of customisation... and the eShop is a complete disaster like you said, it's so so laggy and user experience is horrible.
I don't see a chat feature coming purely because Nintendo has the biggest underage player base of all consoles and that can lead to a lot of problems - you can imagine why (even with parental lock and stuff like that).
Truly hoping for a new Mario Kart with launch and Animal Crossing soon-ish after!!!

I got my switch lite mainly for pokemon sword and my second game was animal crossing NH. Both are my all time favourite games, would definitely want a new animal crossing game to get a new Nintendo system.
I'd like it to be a bit more ergonomically designed, it's not the most comfortable thing to play handheld for long periods as it stands. I definitely want it to be at least somewhere in the ballpark in terms of power rather than not even in sight of the park. Apps, mmm. I kind of would like it to have a bit more to it like Netflix, a reading app etc, but would I realistically use those when I have things that can do it so much better already? Probably not. I want it to be a good game console, not a poor representation of a tablet I guess. I'm only going to play AC on it anyway, so as long as it runs it then I'll be happy!
I'm a 60 yr old woman, probably not a typical gamer. I've been playing on Nintendo consoles since the 90s. i think the SNES was our first one and we've upgraded (apart from the WiiU) every time. Favourite games? Zelda, Mario, ACNH... got us through the pandemic. As a family we love the party games too. I have access to a PS4 (loved Persona 5), X box (both my sons) but he only really plays shoot em up games, not my thing. I like retro games too, and play hand held Apps on my phone, would be pleased to see these on a new console.

I bought my switch for Animal Crossing. I had Breath of the Wild on the Wii-U so up until then, I didn't see a point in upgrading systems. Eventually, I did end up buying Breath of the Wild and then Tears of the Kingdom again. Still have yet to buy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I now love the switch so much, I am struggling to decide if I buy it right away or wait until a franchise that I love actually makes a custom one like NH did with their consoles.
Animal Crossing I assume will come out year 1 or year 2. It’s such a big franchise now. Too good to wait too long on. Plus they didn’t really do that many crazy updates for last one so this would be a good time. Hopefully they blow people away this time with all the things you can do. They also shouldn’t need insane developer time for this one.

I loved the idea of the switch lite and the switch itself and then the old i actually have all 3 lol… but i DEF want more power and graphics even if it is just for nintendo titles forget the 3rd party titles right now like you said its 2025! But i def would like a pro model and even if they did a budget model like the lite again that was really cool … and please god do some themes and not just avatar themes but actual where the ui changes and sorry wasnt trying to write a book…
I bought my switch just to play Mario Odyssey, and loved every bit of it. I am hoping they release a pt. 2 with the upcoming switch. I’m not into buying the same console twice, so a “pro” wouldn’t entice me. Just make 1 great console and call it a day. I agree, I would love other entertainment apps on it, for when I’m experiencing burnout. Additionally, please revamp the UI and the eshop!!
Im excited for Switch 2 coz its such a wonder it made me and my nieces closer.and if leaks are true, i sure hope i can play Okami 2 and Onimusha or at least Elden Ring and New Mario Kart.

I bought a Switch for AC. Going on five years later and really only play that and Zelda. Everything else I play on PS5 or Steam because frankly it’s a better experience.
I wanted a Switch to play ACNH. There was soooo much hype and my friends played. By the time I found one.. I spent 600 dollars for it. Between the chip shortage and scalpers.. that's what I got. By the time it came my friends were pretty much done. :( Also, the streaming thing.. my modern TV relies on Roku for Bluetooth and it's terrible. I cannot run a headset on my TV because as soon as my phone dims it disconnects. I was just thinking.. why doesn't switch have streaming apps? Definitely needs the alps.
I want the more powerful system out the door. Just sell 2 models right away

Really hope they don't just call it Switch 2. I hope it has a name that's easier to differentiate. I have little hope of it given Wii and WiiU but one can dream. Old pokemon games in whatever online console the new one has (hopefully is just the current one and no new subscription needed).

I was gifted a used Switch Lite and a copy of Animal Crossing from my daughter. Within 3 months I bought an Oled and another copy of the game because I love the game and wanted another island. So, yes, I own a Switch for ACNH. I’m already saving towards the next console and would be willing to pay more for the best version they can offer.

I just want analog triggers. Adaptive would be great, but at least give us analog. I mean, it's 2025, and Mario Kart is, as you said, a system seller. Why are we still stuck with cheap, outdated, "all or nothing" triggers?
Also, we definitely need a bettter eShop. The ability to blacklist/block certain publishers, leave reviews, etc should be included from the start. A decent refund policy would be nice too, but I don't want to be too greedy here, lol...
