    Super demonstration, and honestly, it makes me want to stick with spine indexed Victory’s and/or bare shaft tune and fletch myself like I did for my compound.

    So putting the 150 grain point on changed the spine of the bolt, you could have increased the nock weight to get the spine back to where it needed to be to papertune with the heavier point.

    You probably should have shot that 100 grain field point one more time. Three of your four tears were pretty much the same. Your arrows were not tearing left or right, which would indicate a weak or stiff shaft. It might shoot any of those weights you tried just fine. Your arrow did fly better in the nock position you chose, so that was definitely better. Just a thought. Good video by the way.

    I just got the Killer instinct boss 405. I upgraded my scope To the killer instinct Lumix IRE. AND MY BOLTS ARE NOT STOCK. THEY ARE CARBON FIBER VICTORY 325. WT 100 GRAIN FIELD POINT. TOTAL 425. I SHOOT BASEBALL GROUPS AT 80 YARDS. I USE RAGE XTREME BROADHEADS. NICE REVIEW.

    How do you “nock tune” a bolt like those used by Excalibur since they are simple “flat nocks”?
    I shoot spine indexed .001 Black Eagles with 110g grain front inserts.

    • @draggindeeroutdoors
      @draggindeeroutdoors  2 роки тому

      If you shoot spine indexed arrows, no need to nock tune. Nock tuning is a less precise method of spine indexing.

    Did you try nock tuning with the heavier points?

    • @draggindeeroutdoors
      @draggindeeroutdoors  4 роки тому

      I didn't move the nock position when I started adding weight, I kept it at the marked green fletching. I can though if you want me to try it!
      This was kind of a weird bolt, this was the first one that actually nock tuned and tore paper well with the 100 grain point. With the piledriver, all 3 positions had tears with 100 grains. We picked the nock position that was "nock low" and added weight until it was a bullet hole. **So far, we've found "nock low" to be easiest to correct with weight. **

    • @oldgrumpyhunter
      @oldgrumpyhunter 4 роки тому +1

      I was just wondering if the different nock positions on the arrow used, would preform better with the different weights. Might be an interesting experiment. But you don't have to do it for me.

    Keep getting a string gouge on left side of nock, gouge about 2 inches going up from nock along left side...almost right before fetching, and paint scratching off on left side of crossbow rail...half moon, barnet recurve crossbow....any ide how to fix this?

    What if your knocks come with glued in knocks????

    • @draggindeeroutdoors
      @draggindeeroutdoors  2 роки тому

      You could shoot all the bolts thru paper, and rank them based on how well each bolt tears. Or…buy bolts that use a press-fit nock. Not much you can do with bolts that require nocks to be glued.
