Hey man glad to see you're healthy and making content again. Very good tutorial as always
All Hail Lord Voultar!
I did not know about these charging docks! I am very proud of you.
Always a pleasure when Lord Voultar sprays tips and tricks all over our faces!
Huge loads of knowledge and entertainment.
I love when the information drips down my face and into my mouth
"and it charges over usb-c..." proceeds to point to a non usb c port xd
Hey Voultar, hope you're well dude. Just flicking through some of your older stuff. It's crazy how mesmerized I am by your soldering skills! And I love that you say it the proper way too!
Great as always, and I’m glad you’re back! I learned how to solder from your videos and so far I was able to install ps1 digital, x-station, dcdigital, recapped my n64. Next project is my sega genesis rgb tiple bypass! Thank you so much for these videos!
Glad you're alive.
Voultar uses a body double for his soldering
I was wondering where you were. Glad to see you again!
So Awesome to see You Back !!!!!!!!!!! This totally put a huge smile on my face !
Thank you for doing this! I have some old xbox 360 play and charge battery packs that are dead i'd love to open up and resurrect. Seems like the method you showed welding and nickel stripping to a new NiMh battery is similar to this. I love the idea of reusing this stuff! Thank you!
My thoughts exactly. This video has inspired me to do the same with 360 rechargeable packs.
@@misterbeetz Me too. I tried the paper clip trick back in the day but that never worked for me.
Good to have you back making videos!
Hope your feeling better and thanks for the video. Good to have you back.
I missed you 🥺🥺🥺, don't go away again please.
Glad to see that you're back Voultar. I didn't know such tool existed lol I learn something new every time i see one of your videos and for that i want to say thanks! Keep up the great work 👍
Happy to see you're on the other side of COVID. Have had it for the past week and have been binging all your videos. Love the content!
Fantastic!! I had recently bought some batteries to rebuild my Dewalt 18v pack, but the video I watched they were using soldering and said not to apply TOO much heat. I didn't like this! The spot welder will be perfect! Thanks!
Many eons ago I bought an Energizer Quad Wireless Wii Remote charger and the packs used AAA Ni-MH batteries so they could fit the copper charging coil. What was really nice is that packs were held together with screws so it was super easy to replace them with higher capacity versions.
Welcome back to UA-cam - and great video. I see these wii charging stations at thrift stores all the time!
Glad to see you Back Sir...
Thanks for all the great content!
Great tips. Definitely gonna look into purchasing that tool. It's definitely a need to have
So, so pleased to see you back making content again dude!!! Hope you're well 👊😎
You are a great teacher. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Voultar - you are the man.
This is so helpful!! I just started using a Wiimote as a midi controller & I was looking for a better way to upgrade the battery! Thank you so much!
Also, do you think it's possible to combine the Wiimote & Nunchuk into one controller?
Thank you for your very informative video. That spot welder looks very useful. It looks like I have some new projects to try!
I actually did this same thing a while back, except instead of nyko it was an energizer branded charger that used some kind of wireless charging rather than metal contacts. The battery packs had two screws, one under the label, and the two NiMh batteries were AAA size. So a little easier to repair than these it would appear.
Great video. Very informative! If you have any more battery pack rebuilds, I would love to see them! Thank you again.
I've seen a similar guide on how to redo the old Game gear battery cases but I think those are like six to eight battery packs in a similar pattern inside the casing.
That said I always appreciate your videos and those Nykos were amazing/great when I first got the system way back when
I'd still tape it shut for if you need to take it out without damaging it. What a great idea! Had no idea a spot welder was so cheap. I've got three robot vacuums in need of new battery packs 🤔
Now i know what my next project is. Thank you. I missed your vids
Voultar: making the world a better place, one video at a time!
Your video is always great, and never boring.
I didn't know it was that easy to replace the batteries and like your sense of humor.
Great Video, well made for beginners and great spot welding tool
Welcome back Lord! Thank you for another great video. Hope you’ll get back on twitch too.
Great video. Very well done!
Thank you for this, I rushed to check mine. They're both still alive, but one had some blue spotting on the contact. I'm gonna isopropyl it and Q-tip that off immediately.
Very interesting video. Personally, I use rechargable AA batteries instead of single use AA.
Could you do a video on rebuilding Wii U gamepad batteries?
Amazing work
Man, I put on the COVID-19 (pounds) too. Glad you're back!
Voultar's back!!!! Hells yeah!!!
Can you show me how to repack a Tesla battery too? :)
Excellent video as always. We need more content.
Thanks for this. I have 4 of these I don't use anymore so I'll give this a go.
Great stuff buddy! You're gonna make me go out an pick one of these up 😂
Honestly had no idea this was possible to do by end users. Definitely gonna give this a shot.
Awesome video Voultar!
My latest v9 ps2 qsb is being shipped, should have it around the 15th and will continue to add the rest as I measure my dimensions on this revision.
Once thatbis complete I'll keep in contact on Twitter and see if I can send you some.
Cheers!
Another neat alkaline battery alternative available today is the Hixon 1.5v lithium-ion rechargeable AA battery. Outputs full voltage so can be used anywhere you'd put alkaline AA batteries.
Downside to these is it's obviously not as convenient as a charging station, but you trade that for versatility and no need for modding anything.
Adding that spot welder to my tool kit, I've always wanted to be able to make my tabbed batteries for gameboy games.
Wild. Loved it.
Excellent music choice. Sounds like something off the snes if I am correct.
It would be cool if someone could recreate the circuitry from these battery packs and pair them with a 3D-printed case that is meant to be opened/closed. Your method is good since it reuses existing stuff that would otherwise be e-waste, of course.
Another awesome video by Voultar the Great!
🤣
Great video man! Can you do a video on this for the Xbox 360 controller packs as well?
Looks like an easy fix, thanks for parting your godly knowledge
HE'S BACK!(Again!) Missed ya man.
Might try this for the sega naomi battery pack to replace the dead batteries that hold the game in memory when it's powered down. Cheers!
Vídeo excelente, gostei bastante, pois foi bem explicado, atencioso e bem direto sem delongas.
Voultar is back!
Thanks for this videos
It's always nice to learn something new! Especially when your teacher is a Lord amongst us commoners.
Just out of curiosity, are you still using the KSGER soldering station? I want to buy one and start learning the craft.
All Hail Lord Voultar! 😎
This is actually such a great idea - maybe they should design packs to have interchangeable internals like this anyway???
Just think of the unspeakable things Voultar had to do on camera to get that hat.
Just found your videos very awesome learned so much about soldering you are a pro. I just wish I found you a few weeks ago before I destroyed my genesis 2 and that awesome triple by pass chip from you, thanks for sure.
Since I use a headlamp that runs on 18650 lithium batteries. I have a high tech battery charger. And so I use the NiMH Eneloop batteries for the Wii controllers and others that use a AA or AAA or whatever type battery.
Would be nice if you did a video on replacing the cells in older laptop batteries. The kind that have the 18650 lithium batteries.
Great Video.. very interesting :)
Hi Voultar, good to see you again! Would you be interested in doing a 3DO RGB mod video in the future? I’m thinking of attempting this mod, but figured it would be best to see it done properly. Thanks man, glad to see your healthy! Mod on…✌🏻👍🏻🎮👾
I have a wii mote with some batteries in it that I left alone for awhile. But I put a small slip of paper in between one of the terminals to cut off power and so far no leaks. Though granted it probably is still best to remove them for long term storage if you won't be using them for awhile. :P
Good to have you back! Great video, I always wondered how to connect to batteries as my soldering attempts failed in the past.
Are you still planning your OG Xbox video with the HDMI upgrade?
You bet.
Ah man i wish i knew about the 4/5 NiMh batteries when i tried to rebuild an xbox 360 play and charge kit!!
Guess i'm gonna have to pick me up some of them!
Love your videos and rebuilding battery packs myself, but at this point, it's already designed to take standard AA batteries and using standard NIMH AA would be easier imo
This is probably the most intelligent activity anyone has ever done while wearing a Girls Gone Wild hat.
Looking good!
That new Spielberg look... 👀
Lord Voultar, more videos pls
Got the Bob Ross down pat. 👍
Long time no see!
it's definitely a neat way to repurpose old nyko charger packs but for me I prefer just using eneloop AA batteries that you can recharge in a cradle. On the plus side you can use those batteries in other devices that conform to a AA standard.
That is true, but these charging stands double as a nice way to display the controllers. The play and charge kits for 360 are also nice since you can charge them through the controller.
Very nice video. While these are NiHM, what are the safety considerations for doing this? Linux Tech Tips did a video where they were trying to do this with Lithium batteries and they had a terrible time.
If you're cutting the case, would a 3D printed replacement be possible? Transfer everything out?
For now I think I might stick to removing the batteries after I'm done. I didn't have any rechargeable conversions for the wiimotes, and I have the older ones that don't have the MotionPlus built in.
Great video! Do you know if a similar process can be done with the Xbox 360 rechargable battery packs?
It’s Russian roulette every time I pick up yardsale wiimotes with batteries in them. Probably found half a dozen dead ones in the last couple years. Fortunately I find most people raided the batteries for something else years ago.
Is it possible to do the same with the X360 rechargeable battery pack without completely damaging it? Thank you for your videos.
I have this very charging station, its very handy, mine does have issues with the connection
One thing I have contemplated with them is.
With a bit of techy jigery pokery can they have a rechargeable battery that charged via a wireless charging mat?
Would this work with the official Nintendo packs and dock?
I need a tyco RC flex pack rebuilt.
I know Linus Tech Tips tried to do something similar in a video a while ago and was constantly met with failure. When it comes to these specific batteries, do you have to worry about voltage differences between the batteries when spot welding or is the charge not strong enough to cause havoc when being connected?
watching a tutorial for the first time on this and you instruct to keep the batteries close together. Is it OK to hold them with Tape or Bands, maybe a clamp?
You got all those Amazon spot welders sold out
Thanks, I was looking for a tutorial to do this on my "energizer" branded setup. Looks almost exactly the same. Is it possible to use a soldering iron instead of a spot welder, or is that dangerous?
No, it will not work. You'll need the spot welder. Get the one he recommended. Really good and easy for the job.
You don't want to solder as you want to minimize how much heat the battery gets. Yes Spot welding gets hotter, but its a momentary zap that only heats up the points of contact.
Soldering will heat up the whole battery as it's a slow process. Too much heat and the battery will leak or explode.
Can we do anything about psp batteries? Knock off replacement’s are not good
I don't have a dremel can I use a disc grinder instead?
Could you use copper strips instead of nickel strips to spot-weld the batteries together? I have like 2 pounds of this thin copper band stuff that I've pulled out of old transformers. Optimus will never be the same.
Where were you? We missed you ☺️
We need more videos master!
I wish there was a compilation video of every time poor Bob gets fkn roasted here 😂
AAAAHH! Voultar told me to to cut my battery packs and I got battery acid in my eyes!
Please answer my question. Which is better in terms of image quality ps1digital or gbs-c ?
