Can FSA help my family buy a 300+ working farm in Missouri? I have raised cattle and worked on my father’s farm way back while I was in school. So I’m wanting to raise cattle I have a couple of cattle right now on a friends mini farm but I’m wanting my own farm and have 100 head of cattle.
I own 17 acres and I've leased my land for 5 years. But, now I want to farm and add almond trees and need help to start up. What's my first step? Need guidance on Grant's for water irrigation, tractor grant or any info I can be useful. Thanks
Your first step is probably go visit your local county extension office. They will have info specific to your state, or point you in the right direction.
FSA appears to be very short handed and Inefficient. FSA Guaranteed farm purchase loans took 3-4 months at one time. The state FSA office indicates that due to all the retirements and people quitting their jobs, the FSA is now very short handed and instead of the usual 3-4 month wait for a USDA-FSA loan guarantee, you better figure more like 6-8 months or more. Who ever is in charge of over seeing this program in Arkansas, is doing new farmers entering the AG industry, and folks attempting to sell their farms a great injustice by allowing this to go on!
On the fsa.usda.gov website I found that aquaculture has been an eligible commodity for FSFL since August 2015. Here is the information on the FSA website: www.fsa.usda.gov/Assets/USDA-FSA-Public/usdafiles/Price-Support/pdf/Laws-Regs/fsfl_127.pdf . You can contact your county of state FSA office for more detailed information. Another option could be to check out private grants through Sea Pact, Aquacopia, Ag Funder and other funding groups. Here is more info. about that option from NCAT: attra.ncat.org/where-can-i-find-funding-for-indoor-shrimp-production-in-montana/
