Hi, I'm a big fan of your pedals and tones. I'm from Brazil and it's practically unfeasible to have a pedal like this SDE-3, due to the high price. I'd like to have one of these pedals, isn't there some way you can make it happen?😅 (I know it's not possible for you to send me one like this without me paying something, which is very fair)
I’m so excited for this pedal. I had the SDE-3000P and was so excited for the tones and loved the look of it, but the interface was so literally spot on 80s (almost no one programmed a vcr for this reason) and honestly complicated, I sold it after a month of having it. It was truly a trip down memory lane! Menu diving aside, it did that 80s thing of arcane digital lettering with digital number format, and arcane abbreviations of functions with names that didn’t always make sense. Very spot-on 80s high tech, they nailed it. I couldn’t tell what the devil was going on. The size of the pedal was never an issue for me. This, THIS has the sounds I want, kept the stereo I want, and knobs! Blessed knobs! Great overview! I’m sold! ✌️😃🎸✨
I am running a stereo rig, an ME-90 as my preamp, and a pair of Katana 100s, a MkII, and a Gen 3, adding effects that take advantage of the separation is important to me, the more control the better.
Paul, you always look so comfortable using that Schecter and it seems such a great review tool as it just disappears (if that makes sense). It has a fabulous sound but doesn’t impose itself.
Really nice playing but i think this demo falls short with showing the pedals capabilities, i really would like to have heard more double delays and dotted 8ths , this sounds like a nice reverb RV6 with modulation , digital delay and a TS9 .
Definitely getting one of these after I purchase a Quad Cortex, it'll replace the TimeFactor on my small board. Killer playing and excellent demo as always, Paul !
Thanks, that was a useful demo. Definitely interested in buying one of these. On guitar, really happy with my Boss DM-101, it's my favourite delay pedal (Meris Mercury X being my favourite reverb). But, I have a bunch of analogue synths with mono-only output (Moog Grandmother), and also synths with no built-in FX (Arturia Microfreak), so pedals like this and the Dimension DC-2W (or TC SCF+, Walrus Mako M1) for less than £200 are awesome for both stereoising and also for allowing a monosynth to fill time and space. Dual delay ping-pong effects are lovely on simple synths, just like guitar.
May have to check into this, i bought the DD-200 thinking it was stereo but doesn't do the separated repeats that i want. Source audio nemesis is amazing as well
The only problem I see with this, is that most guitarists are doing mono inputs into their amps. While this delay is cool and all for sure, I don't know where you would see any guitarist using this pedal except in a recording studio, or maybe a live setting if the sound engineer wants to put with a guitarist doing dual stereo inputs. It's kind of a hard "take it and use" pedal for me since I also have the classic DD-7 Delay. What kind of use case is this pedal for and where would you see it being used?
The input of the amp is irrelevant. Run one left and one right to separate power amp mono inputs to make stereo or run wet dry wet. A line mixer or parallel router could be used live to run to a mix board FOH in live setup.
I may be wrong with this.. but is it 2 delays in 1? (hence the name) Example, If I were to set it up for 8th notes let’s say, there’s a function that can complement it with 16th notes?
Everything sounded cool vut because your signal was always colored somehow and you couldn't put down the whammy bar, it was difficult to tell what the pedal was fully doing.
As I move the offset knob clockwise from the eighth note to the dotted eighth note, I seem to detect discrete offset values. Does anyone know what these values are?
@@TheStudioRats in an ideal world I would’ve bitten your hand off but timing is really wrong. Thanks for the kind offer though buddy. Love your channel
More impressed by the playing than the actual pedal. Thing is, I already have a DD7, Horizon Devices Flux Echo and an Ogre Kronomaster delay. I think that's enough delay pedals.
I always wished Boss did a DD-3 with a high cut :) not modded! this is extra cool!!! especially with stereo, mod and midi!!! I will be buying this pedal no doubt!
No cleans really offered to hear this pedal? I think I will stick to my studio racks as I've gotten used to so many parameters available for being creative. Pedal Wise the smartest two delays are Strymon Volante and Strymon Dig I have v1 and it is clean. Clean crisp delays really come out especially when you stack them. The clarity of note is always there, even the Halo is by far as better buy than the boss pedal. I looked at the 2290 pedal to add to my quiver but ended up going a used rackmount delay instead. Good effects come into their own only if they inspire us to be creative.
Try again ..with all the fizzy distortion, I hear the same effect / sound, no matter what your setting. I can do so much more with my PS3, and it's over 20 years old... Can you get a Magic Bus ( Live at Leeds) echo? Why not? I can!
Just use one for slapback, especially if it's a mono BBD. That takes care of one. Which kind of frees up room for another - it's not a big, or expensive pedal. Another justification is to buy a synth to go with it, Arturia Microfreak is a good inexpensive small synth that's fun and awesome. But it has no effects or stereo output, so it absolutely needs a Boss DM-101 or SDE-3000. But, now luckily an SD-3 is less than half the price of those. So you are actually _saving_ the money for the synth by getting an SD-3. At least, these are the types of things I'm telling myself ;) It can also be a chorus too, if that helps any
Too bad he kept adding manual tremolo to the sound with the guitar's whammy bar. Hard to distinguish the pedal effect, from the added tremolo diddling in some of his riffs. He should have played the demo stuff without the whammy bar.
This looks rad. But....I really wish Boss would stop with the "tap tempo / on-off led combination " .It really sux in a live environment How hard would have it been just to throw a second, tempo led? To me, no temp led would even be better... like the DD-5.
Great pedal except it really sucks considering it adds a lot of dark tone no matter where I set the High cut or any other settings. It becomes really useless really quick. As soon as I engage it my guitar tone changes significantly. I thought maybe there were some dip switches to fix this problem but I find none. I mostly wanted to use it as a slap back but it just sounds like a compressor (great tone for Billy Squire lonely is the night) but not much else. If it is something I am doing then educate me or tell everyone how bad this pedal changes the tone and don't buy it.
Respectfully, when you're showing modulation effects and you're using your whammy it's unsatisfying and stupid. It really takes away from showing us what the sounds are, but thank you
I’m too old to appreciate this pedal, I’m not understanding why I need a dual delay, I m not hearing much of a difference from using my standard delay and reverb.
@@TheStudioRats okay... : you did a great job at atmosphere feel with sustained parts but this is about hearing the offsets between 2 delays. you need stacato parts !
Arigato, Paul - you are the best. How do you keep doing it?
How do you keep not doing a compact delay with display like the rc5?

Awesome review and demo, Paul! Thanks for this. A mighty delay unit, for sure!
This pedal used with the Dimension pedal will be epic.
it sure will!
I would marry a 3rd dimension if I could

can't you also run the two katanas in sync mode so the delay ping pongs? I think that's a feature of the katanas
Great demo as usual Paul, missed you on Wed, hope you're feeling better ❤
Thank you kindly. Yes feeling better cheers Nabs.

Nice one Paul. Doesn’t have all the knobs but has the tone and fits on the board. Just have to wait for them to turn up here in Aus

Awesome review and awesome pedal.
Thanks!
Awesome delay, great sound! Now we need a renew of RV-6.
RV-12 dual reverb?
Agreed. Time for RV-7. Wide and lush, true stereo delays.
Thank you Mr.Drew great review. Hope you’re back on solid food soon. 👍🤓
Great demonstration as always!
Will this be as unavailable as the Boss IR-2?
What settings would I put the pedal at for an 1980’s Eric Clapton tone?.
He did I believe use the Roland 3000 delay rack unit.
If I wanted to get in the ballpark of emulating this with the HX Stomp, would that be the Dual Delay block?
I just ordered one! but I am getting a delay already!!! :) :) next batch is not until end of the month!!!!!! from Anderson's
Can you set the Tap Tempo via a separate foot switch? If not then it's no good for me.

How do I get a Schecter like this? What exact model is it?
Hey Paul I have a boss katana question how you go about making a strokes tone
Gonna have to get me one
Yep it’s proper good!
How much? Also, how would you compare this to the DD-200?
What does this offer over the DD-8 (which I just bought.... aaaargh)?
Me perguntando o mesmo 🧐
first note i hit the like.
Will the offset work if just connected to the mono out?
Everything sounded cool vut because your signal was always colored somehow and you couldn't put down the whammy bar, it was difficult to tell what the pedal was fully doing.
Embrace the wiggle!
How would you compare this to a Strymon BigSky? Or are they totally different sound modelers?
Two different classes of pedals. BIgSky is reverb. This is specifically digital delay - dual - a subset of a myriad of delay types.
As I move the offset knob clockwise from the eighth note to the dotted eighth note, I seem to detect discrete offset values. Does anyone know what these values are?
Sounds killer
It’s a shame you can’t Hi-Cut all of the delays, ie including the first two repeats …
Some nice features for a compact pedal, though.
I’m guessing that’s a quirk of the original unit. Although by turning up the cut it really does help the delays fit.
Which model Schecter is that please? Sounds and looks bloody brilliant
Its a USA Custom Shop John

Why not? I’d love to hear both

@@HRSP725 Both are great. But it makes it difficult to differentiate what is the pedal adding (on its own) etc.. vs. both together.

Nice demo, but a tip for you: it's impossible to get a grasp of the effects modulation, when you're using the whammy bar all the time.
