Thanks for your kind words about your followers 😃 It goes without saying that what your doing is teaching us railway modellers some great tips 👍🏻 I’ve found what your doing very helpful. By doing cheap railroad/Lima trains first will help give confidence before spending hundreds of pounds on kit that your too scared to use.........😫 So thank you for taking the time to show us. Cheers Stevie 😎🏴
The transformation is amazing, and that is before you start to age the model. It does show that even the lower end of the Hornby range can look fantastic with a little work.
A great paint job really shows how good for its age the body is detailed ,it reminds me of the old oak common 08 that use to run the coaching stock through the wash bleached to almost sky blue and white ,then it got a repaint wow looked like it came out of its box ,great video looking forward to the next ,all the best Mark
Thank you. When i started looking at various aged 08's i was amazed at the range of shades of blue and green that they became. Decals next and then some weathering (my favourite part!)
Love watching your work! I think my last comment was removed cos I put a link for amazon, but I think Johnson's Klear is now Pledge Revive It Floor Gloss and still available, Pledge is part of Johnson's I think.
There’s was a video on UA-cam a couple of years ago about the new version. The nearest equivalent isn’t available in the UK. You can find it on eBay from the states, but with shipping it’s about £30. Having said that, it works out cheaper that the same amount of Vallejo varnish 😁. The uk version was white instead of clear as I remember. Yes you’re right, Pledge is the new name and it’s part of Johnson’s
@@BuntersYard Thanks for the info, I've ordered some from Amazon to try based on the reviews from other modellers so will let you know what its like when it arrives
Hi, just found your channel and working my way these seven videos. Love what you have done so far, and very much looking forward to seeing the end result. Could you tell me which airbrush you are using, the needle size and pressure you use when spraying the primer, oh, and do you thin the paint?. I am very new to airbrushing and have no end of problems with spraying Vallejo grey primer. Thanks for sharing these techniques, much appreciated.
One thing to be aware of, is that this is IIRC a relatively early body type due to the long bonnet door hinges, later Class 08s had shorter hinges. I can't remember when the change over occured, the lowest number I can confirm with the short hinges was 08411 of Thornaby depot. It also has the original design of cab doors which I think were made of wood. Later on steel doors werebysed but I don't know from which locomotive the change occured (08411 had the wooden door). What makes things worse for those wanting to model a specific locomotive is that the doors could be changed, between August 1981 and July 1985 went from doors with long hinges to doors with short hinges. I wouldn't be surprised if the cab doors didn't move around locomotives. It didn't matter what colour a handrail or door handle was painted, after a short while the paint would be rubbed off.
The livery came out amazing

Great tip about "Frisket" in the past I've used "Magic Tape" with varying degrees of success- from OK to try again.
Cool. I'll give that a look i think. Thank you
Lovely job :)

They must have done different bodies for these. Mine has horizontal grille slats and ladders up the sides on the front. It also has a central funnel.
Yes, some did have ladders fitted
Fantastic

What yellow are you using?? Anytime I try paint yellow over black it literally just fades back to nothing
These are vallejo model color. (The Air versions are too thin to cover). Best idea is to paint the part in white first, and then yellow once its dried
