Hi, great video, back in 70's i went on a school trip to Didcot Railway centre, it was this experience that led the way to me joining the model railway world, i still remember the turntable. I haven't been back since, hopefully i will visit this spring/summer.
I’ve somehow got it into my brain, what little there is of it, that locomotives never look quite right when they’re fresh and crisply painted. Give it a week of thrashing around and bring her back to me! :) :) The locomotive I’m thinking of is a 37 all tarted-up in the grey, more grey and yellow with the 5 spot dice device, black spots on a yellow square. She’ll always look more interesting and appealing with a bit of grit, grot and oil splashed up her…… ;) Bah! The loco ain’t bad-lookin’ either.
Hi. I remember seeing a YT channel where the guy visited an area containing old and decrepit wagons that had been there for decades, so there must be hundreds, if not thousands, of old rolling stock just left to rot throughout the UK. I don't understand why they are left there and are not broken up and melted down to make new wagons and carriages. There was once a rake of Pullman carriages abandoned on a siding in Marazion, Cornwall, that were eventually destroyed by vandals. It doesn't make sense to me why all this rolling stock is just left there for arsonists and vandals to have a fun day, or is there a good reason for it that I have overlooked? 🤔 Paul.
It is amazing the man can make a beautiful machine the out last himself, but yet keeps on serving humanity !
