I was in Jakarta 3 weeks ago after staying in Lombok for a week. It was my 3rd visit to Jakarta and I always loved the city especially around SCBD, Bundaran Hl, Monas and Masjid Istiqlal
Hi Hannah, since you are a vegetarian you might like to visit Bandung. There are lots of vegetarian friendly restaurants/places there, even street food. Anyway, if there are people looking at you, you're right, they're just looking and don't mean anything bad. It may feel uncomfortable but unfortunately there's nothing you can really do. My husband is white, he's from the States so we get a lot of that. The best way to respond is to keep walking and if someone asks to take a photo, smile and politely say “No”. Hope you guys enjoy Indonesia 😊
In general, foreign tourists who explore the island of Java from Jakarta will do this: Jakarta - Bandung - Yogyakarta - Surabaya - Malang - Bromo / Ijen - Banyuwangi and cross to the island of Bali... Actually there is 1 city that is interesting and really worth visiting, namely SEMARANG... I suggest you go to Semarang from Yogyakarta then continue to Surabaya and so on.. Traveling by train is very easy and comfortable... you could say that trains in Indonesia are the best in Southeast Asia...
Welcome to Indonesia. Paradise of food, exotic places, friendly people, unique tropical fruit, and cheap shopping. Some foreigner usually try Whoosh, high speed train from Jakarta to bandung. Landmark of Jakarta is kota tua, Monas monument, MRT,LRT,KRL , taman mini indonesia indah and Ancol beach.
Welcome to indonesia..the most friendly country & poeple in the world.. 1 rules, Always walk on the left side guys, bcause indonesian traffic so crowded.. 2, explore street food = save cost.. 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩

what u see there with the police are role play of crowd control training, basically they are mostly graduated in police academy and they must practice what they've learned ( crowd control). the demonstrant mostly their senior officer. sometimes they use public area for the sake of role play.
Our beloved Jakarta is a bit of everything around the world from ultra modern to super primitive. Yet, Jakarta is truly world's megapolitan together with Tokyo Japan. Jakarta size is 6 times size of Paris Europe's largest city. Jakarta is 1st place winner STA 2021 (world's best public transport)
This is your best vlog yet!! I loved the collaborative impressions from both you and Carson!! And the food! Wow it looks delicious. Your mention of the "smells" in most Asian countries. An interesting observation. I'm really looking forward to the next Indonesian adventure!
13:20 Fried banana. Because In Indonesia, many fruits or foods are changed by frying them. After Jakarta, try going to the western part of the island, such as Central Java or East Java provinces.... Happy holidays 🙌🙌

Religious tolerance in Indonesia is very good, friction rarely occurs. Actually the Istiqlal Mosque and Cathedral Church are connecting by an underground tunnel, and also if there is a big event they share the parking lot with each other that's why there is an underground tunnel.
bango is a brand for "kecap manis" is sweet soya sauce.. if you drink ice tea or any drink in indonesia.. you should tell to give you a little sugar (sedikit = little, gula = sugar) otherwise they gonna give you lots of sygar.. because indo people like it sweet..
You should discover unique soup from East part of Indonesia such as Rawon meat soup from East Java and Konro Soup from Makassar South Sulawesi, all you can find around Jakarta
if you are still in Jakarta look out for bakmi GM. its like legendary noodle chain that only available in Jakarta and i never see any foreigners review it. vegetarian food are kinda hard to come by but try gado-gado.
For vegan dish. You could try "Pecel". Mix of noodle, some vegetables and it pour with peanut sauces with some spices ingredients. And we have some traditional street food wich suitable for vegan peoples. We call it "Jajanan Pasar"
Please go to Blok M area in South Jakarta. It's where Jakarta's young people hang out, there are tons of restaurants, street foods, and even an art area called M-Bloc Space! And Blok M is reachable by MRT. A must-try is a popular street food dish called gultik, a popular curry-stew with rice dish that everyone loves. Once you arrive in the area, just say "gultik", and they'll show you the place. Good luck!
Next Explorer to skywalk Senayan park of Jakarta city, Gili Trawangan Lombok, Kuta Lombok, savaya beach club'Bali, finss beach Bali, atlas beach Bali, and labuan bajo komodo dragon island in Flores INDONESIA 🇮🇩❤️
Maybe u can try the public transport like MRT next time if u guys wants to explore Jakarta more, rather than walking at hot and busy traffic. I recommend u guys take train if u want to explore Java Island, it's more cost effective and relaxing rather than taking an airplane ride..
Walaupun anda kurang beruntung tiba di indonesia, mendapat sambutan demonstran , semoga anda mendapatkan manfaat liburan anda di negri kami, terima kasih..

Indonesia has the 2nd most languages in the world after Papua New Guinea, has the most tribes and cultures in the world. The country of Indonesia has Indonesian culinary specialties such as Fried Rice, Rendang, Sate, Meatballs, Martabak, Chicken Noodles, Gado-Gado and so on.The largest cities in Indonesia are Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Bandung, Makassar, Yogyakarta, Bali, Aceh, Papua, Makassar, Manado, Lombok, Banjarmasin, Pontianak, Semarang, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Maluku, Batam, Palembang, Padang and so on. there is also Indonesia having "Little India" only only the cities of Medan (North Sumatra) Most of North Sumatra is of Indian Tamil, Punjabi and Sindhu descent and Jakarta. Terasi is basically shrimp paste and it has distinct smell. Other sambals usually not used terasi. Kerupuk (crackers): there are many kinds of kerupuk in Indonesia, some use animal product like kerupuk udang (shrimp), kerupuk kulit (skin, can be cow/pig skin), kerupuk ikan (fish). Other kerupuks don't use animal products. Most seller use non-animal kerupuk when serving it with dishes because the ones with animal products are more expensive. Emping (also crackers). It yellowish and a bit bitter. it is made from melinjo seed, which is totally vegetarian, or even vegan. It's more expensive than kerupuk so most sellers only serve small amount or sell it separately.
@@HannahGodard you're welcome. Oh also tahu (tofu, in Indonesia, if you say tofu refers to Japanese type of tofu, while tahu is Indonesian tofu which is more firm and sometimes yellowish), tempe (fermented soybean), and oncom (byproduct of tempe). Those are very common too. There are many traditional cake and snacks that are vegetarian actually made from singkong (cassava).. etc Perhaps I should just write a blog about it. 🤭😁
