I'm more shocked they haven't shown the power of FireWall Dragon yet. At this rate they will make it seem like a fair card.
Gumblar is just a disgusting Link-4 monster. In the anime, it solos 99% of all other Yu-Gi-Oh characters including main protags, because it WIPES THE ENTIRE HAND on EVERY TRIGGER.

Don't worry they'll probably mess up a combo
I loved Gouki Gumblar.
I only got to play it once before they banned Gumblar, but it was a great card. The cheapest competitive Link 4 I ever bought.
That entire game 2 deserves to be a highlight, that was absolutely hilarious.
That's just the average Invoked gameplay though

Mekk-Knight Invoked still a deck that can be played to this day. Normal Summon Aliester for over 5 years

You can, but I think Pure Mekk-Knight now has a higher ceiling. Aleister just doesn't have it anymore.
i mean you also can play teledad, but its not good. Invoked these days is just too fair.
Invoked Shadoll with Dogmatika is way more interesting IMO, while Mekks could be paired with some other cool strats
Bystials kill the deck, you never resolve an Invocation again...
Cimo winning game two is the proof that normal aleister is the best play in the game
I hope when they get to TOSS format they bring back the wheel with all 4 decks as options for both. That format was fun and it really felt like every tournament match could have been anything, including dittos.
Agar pain summon hot red in every deck sadly also luna light summoning azathot. And let's not forget mystic mine....
Another thing I have to mention about toss... Mystic mine was underused af. With today's knowledge it's be in every deck period. Which is the case in the comunity playing toss.

@@shakewellerit was underused because every deck sided or mained Order or Anti Spell for Striker and backrow removal for Babel.
Plus we can finally watch the debate of "Was TOSS actually fun or did everyone think it was fun because of the cancer that came before it" in real time.
Man, the absolute joy seeing Cimoo deck MBT with Invoked. I played this matchup so many times in this format. Aleister forever.
Man, I love Invoked. If only there was a catchy tune I could listen to while I summon my favorite monster, Aleister the Invoker.
Joseph referred to Candina as "Canadia" so many times that for a second i had thought i was in the wrong year or something
Invoked Players and drawing exactly what they need, love to see it. Truly the Invoked skill difference.
At 16:33 last time I checked Borreload Dragon's attack reduction effect cannot have cards or effects activated in response to that effect activation so Mechaba's effect should not be able to negate that.

yeah, the actual misplay here is MBT not just using the -500 effect repeatedly until Cimo can't use Aleister to trade with the Borreload Dragon in combat - or at the very least, forcing Cimo to use both of the Aleisters in his hand.
Yeah but the misplay MBT did was try to steal Mechaba as he knew that effect can be negated but forgot that Mechaba also banishes the card it negated
I mean doesn't Borreload just die to Geki otherwise? Or am I missing something (probably am)
I love mekk-knight invoked!! This was my first foray into competitive yugioh and this deck felt so good to play into every matchup great episode!

I'm so happy you guys played mekk-knights. My absolute favorite archtype. I keep my deck updated every ban list to play at locals. I hope to see a pure version played here too
The build I'm hoping for eventually is world legacy scars turbo for history of jank. It's such a ridiculous effect to put on a card.
Pure was never really good, so it’s extremely unlikely to be played on history, jank however, there you have a chance
I think Scars Turbo could be a shoe in for jank. It's shockingly easy to achieve especially with Girsu the Orcust MekkKnight. I personally play a pure MK list that leverages the backrow to lock the opponent out of the field pretty consistently on turn 1. If MK gets one more normal summon it could become problematic.
@orochimochi905 what kind of normal summon did you have in mind? My current list mixes with adventure instead of invoked, and using avram as an additional target for dracoback. Also can go into link spider to help set up a column
@@hannibal9852 The pure version needs another normal summon for going first. Girsu is good, but half his effect is meant to be Orcust Support more than MK. Someone who can search out a continuous World Legacy S/T, and/or give the opponent a token to column up with turn 1 like Girsu does would be a nice addition. And 1 more good name in the main deck would make it that much easier to trigger Scars' ludicrous 3rd effect. That and a Link 1 that searches the field spell would really be all it takes in my estimation to make the deck Tier 2 or 3. It still wouldn't be enough to be a meta killer, but it would be neat. I just think it's a shame that fewer decks don't really lean in to the columns. It's something pretty unique to Yugioh that could be further explored.
im pretty excited for trickstar sky striker. I usually despise trickstar, never really considered it a real strategy, even gimmicky as mbt says at the end, but trickstar sky striker felt like the craziest resource machine, and its short life span really put it under the radar. drones being limited so fast attests to that sky striker engine people played for a very short period of time
I usually root for Joseph but I gotta cheer for my favorite deck, Mekk Knight!
How fitting that Trickstar was the first deck to really start using Firewall, given the anime.

Cimoooooooo doing the most skillful play in the game of Normal Summoning Aleister.
I stand by that Trickstars were 2018's Kashtira. Very consistent with a Stratos and a Field Spell which searches backed up by a gameplan which is very frustrating and with lots of variants. Droll 'n' reincarnate, Firewall-Lilybell OTK, Trickstar Burn, Trickstar Mill and Stun Trickstar. If you don't have an answer on your first turn, then you're screwed.
Again, the only fallback was that it wasn't Pendulum or True Draco. Much like how Kashtira couldn't compete with Ishizu Tear.

I'm so happy you brought mekk-invoked my first ever top, not this build exactly but I was the one that brought this deck to the tcg being the first to top with it.
Invoked Mekk-Knight is my favorite deck.

This is great memories because this is the time that I started playing the game and the guy who taught me was playing this deck.
My high school senior after prom had a raffle where I won a $200 check and use that check to build mekk invoked. They hold a special place in my heart.

I do love me some Trickstars. Not often do you get to see a deck with such bad board presence do so well in a competitive setting. I hope we get to see more of it in later episodes
Classic Invoked gameplay, you just can't stop them from getting to Invocation.
Real shout-out to Mekk Knight invoked, it was my best friend's first regional top. List is very similar but he was playing 3 evenly matched in the main.
I LOVE MEKK-Knights, easily one of the coolest archetypes in the game.
Well considering the results of game 3 MBT would of lost anyways but game 1 you would of taken 1200 per card off of reincarnation not 800 (as shown when you said Cimo takes 12 when he drew for turn) which matters when CImo only had 400 lp left when he won.

He does, but it has a HOPT so can’t always do it, or just playing around MBTs hand I guess

As someone who loves all three of these archtypes and has played a combination of all three this was the hest episode of history in a long while
I love this deck so much. I topped with this deck at a montreal regional in 2018!!! I mained droll and lock and i included 3 called by when it was the promo card. Lol

@@andrejv.2834 dzeeff's old content was pretty good when he bullied "casuals". He had some awful takes like "zoodiac wasnt even that good they basically ended on a raigeki break" which is one of the funniest sentences ever said or defending the format when Pendulum FTK was the format, however the content was very entertaining and you could learn a lot from his discussion videos. I really miss them

This was my first banlist back after not playing cause college in 2012.
Unless I'm mistaken, at 16:30 when MBT activates Borreload, Cimo isn't able to activate Mechaba due to Borreload's effect not allowing it to be responded to. The reading comprehension devil strikes again!
The stealing effect can be responded to. MBT messed up by using that effect when he shouldn't have

This was a fun break from all the combos.

Yeah shoutout to him being able to chain to the chain able effect of Borreload to steal a monster that is negate able as it does not have the stipulation that is it nonresponsive like the attack reduction effect

How did Mechaba negate Borreload in game 1? The sentence immediately after the attack reduction is “your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this effect’s activation.” That’s the whole reason why Borreload was able to be a Crystal Wing killer.
Reread the card, as that stipulation only applies to the attack reduction effect not the take effect that MBT tried to do
notice how Mechaba was 2000 atk after activation, which implies that the effect got through. The negated effect was the control-gaining effect
@@Orfeh9999exactly the attack reduction went through and then MBT decided to try and steal Mechana which allowed Cimo to negate that effect
My bad. Seems like a gigantic misplay to go for the steal effect knowing that Cimo had Aleister in hand to fuel Mechaba. Would’ve been better to just swing over it and then go for the same Reincarnation play next turn to clear the hand of Alleister.
@dariuspenner2528 yeah no problem, at least you aren't alone in that thought but yeah even MBT admitted it was a massive misplay on his part for trying that out
If he didn't activate the steal effect, both of them would have crashed because of Aleister's in hand honest like effect to increase the attack back to 3000 but then he would have a zone cleared for the links from scapegoat so who knows of it would have mattered or not

game 2 was an average invoked players hand
Interesting to see that even at this time engines were so compact that there was enough room for at least 12 non-engine/handtraps. For some reason I thought that sort of thing only showed up around TOSS format
It started with full power zoo at the end of MR3
@@lucasalarcon3230 You may be right. I just never noticed because generic multipurpose handtraps didn't exist yet to fill those slots
handtrap spam became a thing for real when maxx-c was banned.
cause people found out that using 3 ash, 3 ghost ogre, veiler and more shuts down pretty much every deck.
it got realy out of hand when imperm and nibiru came out tho creating decks with 15+ handtraps.
it's absourd how literally no one has read theyr card borreload effect to reduce can't be negated
